I really like this show - Stylish and Funny
musebaby27 April 2017
I really like this show. I love their taste and style and I find it quite humorous.

The banter back and fourth between the couple is great and the other quirky people on the show work. (Although I do miss the old design assistant they had on the show.)

I find this a joy to watch as there is often unexpected things that happen eg, funny high jinks, unexpected renovation work and at the end they present a beautiful house. You get to go through the process with them on finding a house, they pick one out of three, usually they change the layout and/or extend the house. Anyone that says Kortney has terrible style must be old fashioned and stuffy. I find this show quite refreshing its a lot less boring then other renovation shows out there. She isn't styling with beige, brown and cream... its magazine worthy. If you are looking for how to renovate a house DIY show - this isn't it. If your looking for a show to get great tips on style and space and have a laugh - this is the show for you.

Entertaining fluff
Like most flipping shows on these networks, it's mostly nonsense. The costs are unrealistic. We learn nothing about arranging financing or making deals. And we learn next to zero about how renos are done. Plus, the wife's taste in colors is horrible. On the other hand, if you watch these shows as ''couples fooling around with houses'' this is an entertaining diversion. The couple has a good rapport and they have senses of humour. Some of the footage of Dave is like watching outtakes from a Christopher Guest movie. Much preferable to the FlipFloppers with Jerry Seinfeld's lookalike and his 46-toothed Barbie doll wife's 30-minute infomercial for their flipping seminars ''coming soon to an airport hotel conference room near you.'' Less grating than Teeth McGillivray's fantasy reno show. Less obnoxious than Tex and Edna Gaines (&Family) exercise in bad taste. Are there more? I've lost track.

Enjoyable but scripted
kmormac4 June 2020
This show would be so much better without 'design assistant' Abbie who is an actress and is only there to show that Courtney has good design concepts and doesn't need help but like to jump up and down with Abbie over shopping. It's the part of each episode that I change the channel.

Courtney and Dave are entertaining and fun to watch. The before and after of the Flips are impressive. They show real problems that occur on many homes.

masters of flip is the best show on flipping houses I have watched ,they do a great job ,the finished houses are just amazing ,I watch every episode ,the show is interesting and fun ,and it's great to see what people can do with an old house even on a budget ,Kortneys finished decore is gorgeous and inspirational I HAVE GOTTEN SOME REALLY GOOD IDEAS TO DECORATE MY RENTAL ,and it is just so refreshing to see a show that is not distasteful or violent .many reality shows are quite over the top and they go for shaming and insulting people ,Kortney and David ,just have come up with a show that is entertaining ,family friendly and often full of laughs ,there should be more shows like this

Masters of Flip my favorite show

Warning: Spoilers
Best house flipper show out there.

Love all the characters, Dave, Courtney, Chance the contracter, Angela the stager, Abby and Jessica the design assistants, Courtney's brother, and of course Jeff the landscaper- the best! Unlike other house flipping shows which just has focus on main couple, this show is different. Love it, hope it keeps going!

Love your show!
hermankitching1 December 2016
Hi, I am enjoying this show tremendously!! I feel Kortney and Dave is a wonderful couple. I wish I could stay in one of their houses as I feel that they put a lot of love and enthusiasm into every project.I enjoy seeing the difference between the start of the project to the wonderful outcome. Please do not stop being so enthusiastic!Unfortunately in South Africa our houses are inside out build with bricks so it is not so easy to make the changes you can. I still find lots of creative ideas I can follow. I have already ventured out of my comfort zone with color. Wish you can come and visit us in South Africa and show how to flip these brick houses.Regards Claudia

Just as dumb as the rest.
yowcowboy7 February 2019
Same stupid scripted home reno show as the rest of them. Here is the basis for every episode; 1: we buy the house 2: OMG look at everything that has to be replaced. 3: We are so over budget and over time, but lets spend more. 4: oh look we still made money.

Brightly coloured front door lover
theoriginalantiblonde24 April 2016
I think this just might be my favourite of the reno shows when everything is considered. The finished houses are all different, style wise, and they don't always stick to the "neutral" notion that everyone else seem obsessed by. They do things like painting the internal trim a colour other than white (oh no, they wouldn't, the design lemmings scream aghast). They don't always paint everything in "neutral tones", inside or outside. They actually incorporate televisions into the design. They paint front doors orange or turquoise (more screams of protest ensue). They take chances in their designs, their finished houses have character and are often quirky, and I for one like that! I would even want to buy one of their flips and not want to change, repaint everything within a month. Not to dismiss shows like Fixer Upper, Income Property, or the Property Bros, (and others) which I do like, but hey, how much beige and grey and white can one person take.

The discussion on the renovations themselves, are pretty good also. Choices, problems are explained. And they seem to try to keep the extreme fake drama (take that; love it or list it) down to a minimum. What does come up, for the most part, seems viable. The need for certain changes, and building codes are explained with it getting too top heavy (that's what Mike Holmes is for, lol). Sometimes when I watch these reno shows, I have to think the people in charge of inspecting the house had to be idiots that the problems found after demo were a surprise. Especially when it's in the basement or foundation - that should be the first place inspected when first viewing the house and definitely before buying one. I also like that they show the need to go around and take photos near the end of the reno of the bits and pieces that aren't done -- a realistic part of any reno.

Someone mentioned that this show was somehow less because the final staging factored strongly in the final sale price point, but that would be the same with all of these shows. I think this speaks more (negatively) about the potential buyers and their personal lack of imagination, than of the show. It has been shown repeatedly that buyers, that people, are really only interested in the final vision, the pretty picture. They don't really care about what's behind the pretty facade. That behind the nicely finished basement walls or floors, is a crumbling foundation allowing water and earth and critters in, causing untold damage. Let's face it, what's behind the walls isn't sexy (okay, it is to me, but that's another story).

My one huge criticism of this and pretty much all of these reno shows is the unwarranted waste and garbage they create on "demo" day, by their complete destruction of all of the existing cabinets and such. Yeah, maybe it's fun to smash stuff, but c'mon, most of that stuff could be reused, repurposed, by many other people who don't have tens of thousands of dollars to just buy the kitchen or bathroom of their dreams. Or even donate the building materials to places like the habitate for humanity type places. Just trashing all of these potentially reusable materials and creating even more landfill is not cool at all!

Nothing Special
skinnygaillard3 December 2021
This show would have been great if the focus was more on the actual work that goes into renovating houses. There are plenty of great personalities and talent (Jeff comes to mind) that should be given more screen time than Kortney and her rather nebulous role.

Speaking of Kortney, it's often impossible to ignore how grating she can be. If she's not acting smug about picking pretty tilework, or staging she didn't organise, she is nagging Dave over the budget. It's ridiculous - whether pushed by producers or not - how peeved she gets when he spends money to fix structural problems, meaning that their $100k+ profit isn't as huge as it could have been. This is not even her at her worst; the shrieking sessions between her and the 'design assistant' when picking out granite or flooring are insufferable. I'd much rather see a structured walkthrough of a design plan than the occasional visit to a store punctuated by a lot of squealing. The whole process of design is portrayed to be a series of impulsive decisions made in 5 minutes, and and actual plan from start to finish would make for better TV.

One positive of the show is in the design, in that it doesn't revolve around hackneyed, contemporary ideas that every other flipper seems to adopt. It's good to see colour and a variety of styles instead of the usual grey-on-grey-on-grey.

All in all, the show can be entertaining if you're looking to switch-off and watch something that's not challenging. There could have been a fantastic show but it's dominated by Kortney's 'personality'. I'd happily watch Dave, Chance, Angela, Jeff, and construction workers actually do the work, instead of the hectic mess that is shown.

Not Good!
jcronin-0901622 August 2016
This show is trying to copy some of the other flipping couples on TV but definitely don't pull it off. She is like a female Hitler. She treats the builders horribly. I'm not sure if she thinks this is good, but it makes her look all the worse- spoiled brat. He seems to have it more together, but she definitely calls the shots. Why they would put someone so arrogant on TV is beyond me. I watch HGTV a lot but will not be watching this show. I think he could have a show and be successful, but not with her. He seems knowledgeable and seems to have a nice TV presence. They definitely don't pull of the easy going flipping couple that others pull off.

Annoying couple
morganbank31 October 2016
The only good thing I can say about this show is that the location is a good one. The banter back and forth between this couple is annoying. An hour is too long to watch. Maybe 30 minutes would be tolerable. The wife's voice is way too loud and too wordy. Also this makes three flip shows in Nashville. How about another city?the market is going to be saturated with homes that when Just walk in all you see is ....everything you own! Next will be no walls for bedrooms. Pleas keep a door on the bathrooms at least. Another problem with these flips is when looking for a home to move to you will not know what you get. We have toured several homes that have obviously been flipped by amateurs. Buyer beware.

Unimpressive
Vic202031 March 2020
As someone professionally trained and experienced in interior design I am pretty shocked at seeing the build and design choices made by Kortney and her team. Whilst open concept living is desirable I think that most of the flips see the removal of just too many walls which then creates the feeling of a shell thus removing the soul of these old houses and all too often the furniture placed in the open plan entrance, living, dining takes on the look of a furniture showroom. A professional designer knows when to stop at, however it seems that Kortney's approach is to remove all walls and just leave the bedrooms and bathrooms intact. Furthermore with the entrance halls removed there is never an area for boots and coats which in turn removes the natural flow you'd expect into the main living areas. Not to forget to mention that a home office /study is usually overlooked, however to my horror in one episode a desk was placed as part of the open plan concept - not practical to undertaking study or work. Likewise many of the finish choices are too personal when the aim is to appeal to as many buyers as possible. Seeing a blue ceiling or hard contrasting colours will only appeal to a very small number of buyers. I like the concept of the show plus the landscaping however it doesn't set good design practice.

I tried to like it
clbzipf19 September 2016
I LOVE renovation shows and follow my favorites like a fiend. I watched 2 whole episodes of Masters of Flip hoping it would get better. It didn't. Between the goofy professionals (gardener and contractors) and the diva, Kortney, I found it really hard to take the show seriously. The focus of the show was on the antics of these characters and Kortney's wardrobe changes. Design/renovation was on the back burner. I learned nothing and found myself annoyed at the couple. The plot was about stupid arguments/power struggles that were supposed to be cute, I think. With so many other great professional design shows out there, this one will get skipped.

Obnoxius little woman.
grahamfiddler15 February 2020
I realise this is an old set of re runs we are seeing in the UK at the moment Fed 2020. I never realised that the so called Napoleon complex was also prevalent in little Women. This could be a good show if they dumped Mrs Wilson.and her annoying squawky voice. She seems to ask others opinion, and then ignore it and go on with what she had already decided. Each episode we see that she is so desperate to get screen time, that she has to join in with the demo crew..when it is obvious she is not needed.Limit her apperances and show more of the actual work that is being done. From what I have seen(and I have seen most of the episodes shown in the UK) Her so called TASTE and STYLE is none existent Wow a rug at an angle !! Gosh paintings on the wall. Finally the scene at the end where they go on about how much money they have made.well seeing as the money is between two of them,in full time jobs re doing a property up over to 3-4 months, the profit is no great shakes. Treat them to a box set of Flipping Vegas. Also, why all the footage of the barn, and stuff they are building at home, and playing with the kids..We are watching to see a refurb..mot a Day in the lofe of the Wilsons.

Obnoxious
joanjrees19 September 2016
These two hosts are obnoxious.

The wife, Kourtney (add hair flip here), acts like she's an "America's Top Model" wannabe instead of a "designer", and the minute I saw the husband with that hat on all the time, I knew he must be bald.

The Masters of Flip duo seem to be much more interested in their profit rather than in creating a home.

Their know-it-all attitude is the clincher. This show is impossible to watch.

Skip this show and watch Flip or Flop or Fixer Upper instead, where the hosts are much more palatable.

Dislike a lot
lbunny-643932 July 2016
I always look forward to watching good renovation on HGTV, such as flip or flop, property brothers and so on. When I came across this "master of flip" I really disliked it. The designer picks very tacky color as well as the end result looks very unprofessional. They seem to only care about the budget. In one episode the designer uses all carpet in the house, and the viewers that we're looking at the house disliked it and said they would eventually take it out. I find the designer goes with bold color, which is very brave but the end result the color she chooses don't look good at all. Compared to all the shows on HGTV it's very hard to believe how this show is still on. Probably one of the worst shows I ever watched in terms of flips. I hope this show can stop airing, due to lack of design, as well as color. Therefore I find this show boring and if I ever see it on TV and would probably just changed the channel and hope to come back to flip or flop.

Not so good
alcmtr-fun2 April 2016
If I had my choice (and I do), I would not choose these people to design or sell a flip because they try really hard to be the Fixer Upper couple and/or the Flip or Flop couple, but are in reality Flip This House couple. The houses they flip and design are the worst of the worst (or at least appear to be that), and they are overly concerned with the budget rather than providing a good product.

I especially disliked the Ice Ice Baby episode which is when I realized the designer can put things together but she needs someone to stage the house to really give it personality, character, and perhaps charm. While the designers of Fixer Upper and Flip or Flop can design the house and especially Fixer Upper can do the final touches with add personality, character, and charm.

Turn off!
feanaro-1742910 October 2016
I enjoy fixer-upper shows so when this show first came out last year I was happy to see another fixer show. I have watched several episodes and I really can not stand this show. I won't watch it again. Dave is OK, but I seriously doubt he is an experienced, quality home builder. Kortney irritates me to no end. She spends a lot of time trying to be "cute", there is way too much girl-giggling, has no design sense, is way to bossy and those outfits she parades around in are ridiculous. The review guidelines say I have to have a minimum of 10 lines of text. I have said all I feel I want to say about this show - it sucks. I hope it gets cancelled so they have space to try another show.

Totally Dislike the show
dolly-1996617 January 2017
I can not believe that you rate them at 7.4 when only 3 out of 16 comments are rated a 1,2 or 3. I watch a lot of home renovation shows. This one I can not even stand to watch. You can't tell me that most of these houses aren't a complete gut. The electrical, plumbing, mold, dry rot etc. Yet they have the least costs for their renovations even including their major add on of footage. Then sell with the biggest profit. With the two of them he doesn't have a backbone. Her Assistant designer doesn't have a say in anything either. It's Kortney's way or the highway. She doesn't have a clue about designing. Like one of the other comment said either does the lady that stages the house. Do not like this show at all.

Solid work
troliver-8028026 April 2019
But, Cortney and her design taste is just not for me. It's pretty obvious that her favorite color is blue. Her color choices are not what I expect if trying to appeal to the average buyer. They use top notch materials and fabulous builds.

Most Boring Flipping Show Ever!
collectorofsorts2 December 2021
I recently found this online and have watched about half of the first season. It's literally the most boring flipping show that I've ever seen. They don't show much of the actual work like the other flipping shows. They just show the really boring and uninteresting parts of it.

Sea Foam Awful
ohappytrailsu9 January 2017
I signed up just to review the awful show "Masters of Flip" that grated on me so much, I had to write it. I tried to like it. I gave it many tries thinking it would get better. It never did.

First, co-host and wife, Kortney Wilson ruins the show. Her overbearing personality and selfish attitude drove me up a designer wall. Her ridiculous outfits were the main display in every episode. Sometimes I even wonder if she plotted the colors of the interior to compliment her outfit, i.e. lilac and then wear a purple ugly outfit. Her colors are mostly dated 1980s old lady pastels, like sea foam and lilac. Her smugness of letting her husband Dave Wilson know she is smarter than him is like listening to fingernails on a chalkboard. An example, "I will get you a copy of Vogue," she said to him about her thinking she knows it all and he is an idiot. She is such a diva. He is more practical and level-headed. She thinks she is smart and a grand designer, but she isn't. She may be a good Realtor and that is where she should stay. A designer she isn't.

Anything Kortney does, like colors and her touches is whacked out and she spends way too much. I can't hold Dave blameless either. He is a wimp and won't stand up to her excessive spending and demands. For instance, she will usually say in about every episode, "I want this to stay, I want that, don't take that one thing," etc. Instead of letting her husband, who is practical and tells her the reason they can't keep it, she refuses almost every time and he caves. When he can't keep her demands she pouts and reminds me of that little rich girl who didn't get her pony. Also she demands he stays on budget since she is worried about making a dollar, but it is OK when she wants to spend big. She gets mad at him if he asks her to budget.

The show could be salvageable if Kortney was removed and only had Dave and his workers. I would watch it. As is, with Princess Nasty Sea Foam, I am going to pass. Unless you like seeing an overbearing diva who mimics a nastier Kate Gosselin, in tacky outfits, pass up on this stinker.

waste of time to watch
yoyogweedo15 October 2016
This show seems to try too hard to be entertaining, the interior design is horrible and the actual structure of the flip is not something that real people would live in. They attempt to be cute but actually she comes across as fake and prissy. She has no taste or design skills and I wouldn't waste my time watching. Flip or Flop, Fixer Upper and the Brothers are real people with real skills and are very entertaining. Masters of Flip are delusional if they think their good, her color choices are not something a normal person would utilize, tile, furniture, flooring, cupboards need to show the general public good ideas to try in their homes and most of the stuff they use would not as it's too outlandish. I was generous in my 2 rating.

Really unpleasant couple
anne-537-35908324 October 2016
This show is pretty bad. I watched all of season one, and started season two. I will not watch any more. The show wants to be another Fixer Upper, but it isn't even close. The couple who do the flips are not at all likable. They are manipulative and snarky with each other all the time. The husband (who wears a hat at all times to "hide" his obvious baldness - just own it, already!) will even yell at people when an honest mistake is made during demo or construction. This made me so uncomfortable I turned the show off before it was done. Besides the unpleasant hosts, their design ideas and construction quality are not that good. There are so many others who do it better. The woman relies on a design assistant and a person who does staging. She isn't really a designer. She is a designer-wanna-be.
