The plot point of registering Inhumans is similar to the same type of event discussed in the X-Men (2000) franchise when the government wanted all mutants registered and put on a similar type of list. Though it is not part of MCU, the X-men films are based on Marvel characters but had a licensing deal with 20th Century Fox. However since then, Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, bringing X-Men back to Marvel.
At the time of Emancipation's airing, the fate of the television series Agent Carter (2015) was unknown, with several outlets noting that this could be a surprise, meta-announcement of that series' cancellation. ABC officially canceled the series two days later.
