The sensitivity that Sreebala displays in handling the theme at hand, makes 'Love 24 x 7' and honest film, that is warm, tender and heartfelt. -Veeyen

Warning: Spoilers
The assured sense of tone that is apparent in Sreebala K Menon's debut feature 'Love 24 x 7' renders it a film that takes pleasure in the simplest of its moments. Roopesh Nambiar (Dileep) is a leading television journalist, who works at the channel 'Naalaamidam', and is unarmored by a new trainee with a fancy name - Kabani (Nikhila Vimal).

When he realizes that Kabani has none of the Wayanad roots that he had expected her to have, he is surprised, but she shocks him further with a horrendous Trivandrum slang. Nonetheless, love strikes between the two.

The romantic tryst is observed with much adoration by Sarayu (Suhasini), a dear friend of Roopesh's mom, who is haunted by the loneliness all around. When she meets her former class mate and lover Satheesh (Sasi Kumar) after eons, the duo recognizes that it's never too old to get going again. Burying their bygone lives under the carpet, Sarayu and Satheesh decide once and for all, that they should perhaps start living for themselves.

'Love 24 x 7' is thus all about the choices that we get to make in life, some of which lead us on to decades of never ending regret, and some others that we force ourselves to be happy with. As life flits by, remorse sets in, and the new array of alternatives that one is left with, hardly make any sense.

I would say this is a film that gains fantastic momentum in the latter half, with a highly realistic, unexaggerated love tale that draws you right in. Sarayu and Satheesh keep the dramatics at bay (expect on an odd occasion when he offers her a flower and proposes), and go about the business of being in love all again, with an exactitude that is impressive.

The contrast between the two stories works excellently well, precisely because one is marred with immaturity and the other is liberally doused in mellowness. You cannot simply miss the spark in the writing, and at least a couple of sequences stand out from the rest.

In one such scene, Sarayu talks of the inevitability of falling in love, and then the helplessness that accompanies it through a brilliant analogy with a stray dog that has let its head into an earthen pot. In another, Jayasree (Lena) waxes eloquently on the gender issues that very much exist in the media realms, just as it is a reality in several others.

However, Sreebala's first ever directorial venture isn't without its share of blemishes. For one, it does not convincingly let its younger pair fall in love as it does the older couple. Even as we are told that Roopesh and Kabani are inseparably in love with each other, one wonders when it had all transpired! And, there is an epilogue of sorts that goes on as the titles roll up at the end, which sound at once needless and totally unwarranted.

In fact I was all the more disappointed since I was tremendously impressed with the way it had all ended - just as in real life - with an add on message that life simply repeats itself. Which is why I would pretend that I hadn't been witness to the epilogue bit.

Here is the third heroine that I am writing about this week, who has left a mark with a striking acting debut, and Nikhila Vimal looks like she is here to stay. It's refreshing to see Dileep in a role that lets him be anything but the comic self that he has over the years restricted himself to. Suhasini and Sasi Kumar make a lovely pair, and Lena is simply wow in a short, but significant role.

The sensitivity that Sreebala displays in handling the theme at hand, makes 'Love 24 x 7' and honest film, that is warm, tender and heartfelt. It has an old-fashioned sweetness to it, that lets its characters ingratiate themselves into your heart. -by VEEYEN from NOWRUNNING.

Love 24x7 is a promising debut by Sreebala K Menon, writes Paresh C Palicha.

Warning: Spoilers
Writer-director Sreebala K Menon attempts to do something different in her first feature film, Love 24x7.

Here, two adults start liking each other and they discuss how to take their relationship forward. Do they like each other enough to make a commitment to spend their entire lives together?

The backdrop of this story is a television news channel, and the director presents the inner workings of a newsroom in a lighthearted way. She weaves a love story into the narrative as seamlessly as possible.

Roopesh Nambiar (Dileep) is the face of the channel but he remains casual about it.

When a trainee Kabani (Nikhila Vimal) comes in, he rags her at first. Slowly, romance brews between them.

There are other subplots in the film.

Dr Sarayu (Suhasini) is a friend of Roopesh's mother and his local guardian of sorts. She was widowed at a young age and had to bring up her son single-handedly. Her son has now migrated to the US and has a family of his own. She takes Kabani under her wings, and the wisdom she imparts to Kabani (without being preachy) is immense. Her early widowhood, leading a companionless life and then the revival of romance of her youth with her college mate (played by Sasikumar) changes Kabani, and makes her ask her mother if she wishes to have a companion.

All this makes Love 24x7 a few notches above the typical films that only target box office love.

Even Dileep's histrionic instincts of going over the top are curbed, yet he seems to be comfortable in the skin of Roopesh Nambiar.

Nikhila Vimal seems to be worthy of the confidence reposed in her by the director.

Suhasini is her charming throughout but the guitar in her hand when she is singing Chura Liya seems to be too big for her comfort.

Sasikumar's aristocratic presence adds depth to the proceedings.

Sreenivasan is unduly subdued without his brand of self-deprecatory humour.

Love 24x7 is quite a promising debut by Sreebala K Menon. -written byParesh C Palicha for REDIFF

Same Old, Same Old. ♦ 34%

While I am happy with the fact that one more woman has taken up filmmaking in the Malayalam film industry, I am upset over her blunt work.

Love 24x7, which sounds like the tag-line of a sleazy, illegal lodge that offers rooms for one-night-standers, talks about two love stories that aren't love stories, per se. A celebrated TV news anchor (Dilip) falls for an intern (Vimal) half his age and soon love blossoms faster than the intern's transformation into a well-known presenter. A generation ahead are two oldies (Suhasini & Kumar) who have found solace in each other's arms now that their better halves are better off either six feet under or in someone else's arms.

While the romance between the aged couple makes sense, it is the younger ones' that comes out as hackneyed. This romance, which unfolds through the mundane happenings of a regular corporate office (news channel, in this case), is hardly convincing. The build-up was fine, but the path it took to involuntarily reach a point of stagnancy was annoying.

The humor is pretty decent, but still somehow felt like medicine that the film had to consume in regular intervals to stay afloat. Dilip has of course shunned his idiosyncratic slapstick-dependent style, but as a torchbearer, his character fails, more so terribly towards the end. There are also strains of virtues that are polished here and there, mostly along with the oldies' part, that makes for good entertainment value. But, we all have watched Blessy's Pranayam (2011).

If one stops and wonders about the film and its intentions, the words "a cavern" would definitely be found in the conclusion. The film drags towards the end like a flour mill churning out noise pointlessly without any grains to work on.

Cast performance is generally good. Songs are apt for what they are picturised on, and the overall direction is fine. +1 for the unconventional climax, yet it makes and then breaks the whole drama.

BOTTOM LINE: Love 24x7 is the same old romance story that has nothing significant in it other than the sugarcoated idea of love, which it says, like everyone else, is eternal.

VERDICT: 3 stars out of 10. Below average.

Can be watched with a typical Indian family? YES

Worst movie I have seen in the past 5 years
nikhilrj26 July 2015
Seriously i didn't have the patience to watch the Full movie. Waited for the interval to open the theater doors. If you want to watch this movie. Don't waste your money. It will be in televisions within a month. I hope in KAIRALI channel. They are the one who telecast these kind of Dileep's terrible movies. The movie have no storyline. Not even some jokes that Includees in Dileep's movies. The story is about some News reporters. Dileep comes as a news reporter with his horrible jokes as usual. The story goes nowhere after 60 minutes of watching it. I really believe this movie is a shame to the entire Malayalam film industry.

love 24*7 is one among the decent movies which i've seen in my recent past, the movie doesn't show any out of the world peppy songs or colored visuals, but made me feel ,that I am watching a movie with soul. it deals with the love stories of 2 couple ; Dileep and Nikhila (news presenters) Suhasini and Sasikumar (Doctors) making their decisions to go for their career or love ; how does the decisions differ from the generations wind up the story. It was glad to watch Dileep in a common man's role with out any of his clichéd comedy and fun to make others laugh at any cost!! Sreenivasan was excellent same was with Sasikumar. Suhasini and Nikhila shared much more brilliant screen space than others. Lena made her one of her career best role in this movie. All together Sreebala K Menon made a promising debut!!!
