It took Vimal three years to complete the screenplay, and before the filming he made a digital story board so that nothing goes amiss. He invested nearly seven years in this film.
The story was based on real life incidents.
Rain also plays a huge role in the movie as 80% of the movie features rain.
It was the real-life Kanchanamala, who insisted the director to cast Prithviraj the role of B.P. Moideen, her lover, in the film as she felt that Prithviraj was the most eligible and similar-looking person to cast Moideen.
Kanchana was kept under house arrest that lasted for a long 25 years.
