The hand-drawn QR code in Elliot (Rami Malek)'s journal leads to an actual website that has a mid-1990s style and is currently under construction. It boasts that Confictura Industries will be the company of the future. It sports a black background with tiled AniGIF blinking stars, Times New Roman writing and an icon that says: "Optimized for Netscape 3.0" which was released in 1996. Nonetheless the site is created according to modern standards, being responsive and featuring a title tag, a meta description and a Favicon - features that 90's websites simply didn't have. Various theories on social media center around this being an early site that Elliot developed, while he was learning to code.
