Good idea - god awful presenting
tatjanakueth28 June 2022
I love watching how things are made, get a little added info of the history and feel educated and entertained, and then Gregg Wallace shows up. His overbearing school boy « amazed at everything » act is so terribly annoying. He is irritating and obnoxious and I swear most of the time you see the poor people hand picked to give him the tour cringe at his horrific demeanour. And not enough that they let him loose on the British factory workers, they sent him to France and Germany where his condescending, dumb act is even less well understood than in his home country. I get it, he has to ask « seemingly dumb » questions so the people explain to the audience why I need a screw in this thing, or yeast in bread or whatever. But can he not do that in a way that seems less like he is on an energy drink high? Cherry and Ruth are doing such a great job and the show is really well done, just get rid of Gregg or tell him to bloody tone it down!

Ruined by the key presenter

Fascinating concept and a great series. Well, it would be if they had not cast uber-irritant Greg Wallace as the main presenter. His gurning, mockney barrow-boy schtick wears thin after 30 seconds. The other presenters add some gravitas and insight into the history of each product but I have to watch it with the subtitles on and a mute button handy to cut out GW's faked amazement as he patronises each machine operator who is unfortunate enough to be compelled to suffer GW's egotistical contrived patter.

I love this show

...And a 7,9 rating shows, so do most others. Gregg Wallace is enthusiastic and funny, some find him to be too much, I don't. I think he nails it with his good mood and inquisitive personality.

Interesting, but ...
LyonME25 August 2021
It lost any credibility for me when they did the chocolate taste test in episode 2. I get that Brits like their own chocolate. But describing American chocolate as having a vomit taste is a bit much. It's chocolate, for Pete's sake. No one is going to eat something that tastes like vomit, let alone crave it. It's just not as sweet.

Interesting content, terrible presenters.

Talk about 2 people ruining what should be an interesting show. The show gets 8 stars, the presenters 0. That averages out to 4 stars from me. This is exactly like the American/Canadian version. Interesting content, obnoxious presenters. Seems to be the norm these days for this type of show.

These shows are also in German. Not as obnoxious as the versions in english. Where do they find these people? At an unemployment office for obnoxious-no-talent-actors. I would hate to be around these people after a few alcoholic drinks. Probably even more obnoxious. Too bad for the show, because as I've said, I enjoy the content.

This would be so much better without Greg Wallace

There is only one UK presenter worse than him...

Why does the BBC retain such losers?

I wonder what criteria brought him to the top of their list?

Great concept..... absolutely ruined by THE worst male presenter this side of Proxima Centauri
Beachbum201827 February 2021
Love the informative idea behind this series and so long as Gregg Wallace is not in shot it works.

However, the second you see him, even before you hear him, you want dig up your long dead ancestors and show them how the human race is rapidly descending into oblivion!

Programme presenters should engage the audience, make you feel like it's your mate and keep you wanting more..... but Gregg Wallace has exactly the opposite effect on screen for me, he makes you want to become a member of the Texas chain saw massacre team!

I've seldom encountered a more irritating human individual in my life, he comes across as smug, prissy, loud, boring, unfunny, sarcastic, condescending, obnoxious, arrogant, tedious, trite, ignorant and shallow.... traits you'd think any programme executive would want to absolutely avoid like the plague!

The intent is probably to create a new Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs fame, where Mike is an absolute maestro in that role..... unfortunately Gregg is so far removed from that standard, it's insulting to even try to compare them!

I know Gregg's not stupid, he just hides it extremely well.... great casting choice... not.... programme executives!

2 stars because it's informative!

THERE SHOULDN'T BE THIS MUCH SHOUTING AND STUPIDITY IN A SILLY TV SHOW! WHOAAAHH! THAT'S CRAZY!!!
pmike-1131214 December 2022
Two hosts with their "unfathomable" excitement and loud exaltations over common, everyday stuff being made. The show might be interesting in-general, but the ridiculous shouting and trying-too-hard-to-sound-facinated loudness of these people is beyond reason and way beyond my tolerance. SHUT UP! STOP SHOUTING AT ME AND EVERYONE ELSE!!! STOP BEING MINDLESS NITWITS LET LOOSE!!! And those who say it's just Gregg...Cherry is clearly his "equal" - in being totally annoying.

Basically, get new, quieter, more intelligent and interesting hosts, or take this idiocy off the air! I'd rather watch episodes of Air Disaster for the 100th time than this knuckleheaded nonsense.

Inside the Factory
studioAT8 March 2021
Somewhere along the way a trend has emerged in TV for programmes that go 'inside' places. Whether that's factories, as it is here, or shops, or zoos etc.

I don't know what the fascination is, but it certainly helps fill the schedules.

This programme is ok, it's mildly interesting, but it's certainly not must watch tv.

Series 5 Deja Vu
mistervista30 July 2019
Whilst I have enjoyed previous series and always learn something new, I have a serious case of Deja Vu with the first episode of series 5. It says it's a new series but I clearly remember seeing this before so I have no idea what is going on? I have been saying their lines before they do and saying what is coming next so have definitely seen it before. Weird!

Would be much better without Gregg Wallace
junk-1217124 December 2023
The presenter Gregg Wallace taking credit for the work of others for "his" item at what ever plant the show is visiting. His man child act detracts from what would be a relatively interesting and well put together show. I do find it a bit ironic that many of the factories visited are owned by multi-national corporations that are not British owned but are still lauded as the best in the world for whatever reason they can dream up with their on show historian. Cherry is the least annoying of all the presenters but her role is also poorly scripted. She doesn't need to be portrayed as more shallow and idiotic than Gregg.

TLDR...the premise is interesting but the hosts suck.
