Watchable, enjoyable enough

The Royal family...yes their last name is Royal...converge on the homestead in order to get their family back together. Mom and Dad are separated and they're hoping some Christmas magic will set it all right

Well, we have a few twists and turns as is custom with family movies, so let's get to it.

Solange (not the character name) is dealing with a boss that has eyes for her

Republican is dealing with a Congressional Campaign and wants to make himself over as a Family Man. He plans to propose to the love of his life...except there's something in the way

Vivica Fox is having some fun with MacDaddy Royal and while Mac is a stereotypical bachelor, he does come off as likeable enough to root for him

Guru played by Romeo is an interesting character that seems to be very connected with his spirit and I like the character a lot

Minister Royal is trying to put together a salon and church and Tichina Arnold plays a part in her story.

All in all, I didn't expect a masterpiece but I did enjoy a charming film that did make me go "what?" a few times. That said, I loved that the family dynamic. I felt like they spent time off camera hanging out in character to play well off of each other.

This isn't a holiday classic, but it is worth a viewing

Royal Family Christmas (2015) is a holiday gem that I recently watched on Tubi. The storyline follows a family that is sick of how hard it is to get the family together for the holidays. They decide to fake a divorce to trick everyone to get together for a last family holiday. As the parents go through the process, they deal with the family's inner struggles and may find their plan backfires.

This movie is directed by Lance Kawas (Paid in Full) and stars Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill), Tichina Arnold (Martin), Richard Lawson (Poltergeist), Romeo Miller (Honey) and Ricky Harris (Heat).

The storyline is unique and has dynamic characters. The divorce plot is as awful as it sounds; and was painful to watch executed at times, but the storyline improves as the family dynamic unfolds. Fox and Harris play off each other perfectly and they were hilarious the entire film. The acting and dialogue was really solid and there's some good laughs baked in here. Romeo was a funny and dynamic character. He delivered a solid performance and the conclusion felt realistic.

Overall, this isn't a holiday classic, but it is worth a viewing. I would score this a strong 7/10 and recommend it once.

If you're depressed this movie hands you a rope

Warning: Spoilers
Thinking I was about to get into a fun Christmas movie with my wife and kids we instead got sucked into this weak tale of a dysfunctional family that lied to find out just how dysfunctional they are... and the ending was terrible. I watch a Christmas movie for laughs and fun, not to be depressed and to top it all off... it wasn't even about Christmas. It was centered around thanksgiving. The plot was about a lie by what seemed like a happy couple about getting a divorce only to end up preparing to get a divorce. The kids characters were terrible as well. One of the kids discovers she's not her mother's daughter, as a grown woman? She's supposed to become a preacher, but can't forgive them for this lie. The republican kid who plans to run for office... congress in fact, yet never seems to have had a job acts like he's never even kissed a woman before, much less date his high school crush whom he can't even talk to... again, as a grown man? Master P's son plays the free spirit who's found himself, yet at the end continues searching... finally, the little light skinned daughter is in a relationship with an older, married white man and she doesn't even know how many kids he has. This was a -5 on a scale of 1 - 10

Nothing comical about this

Warning: Spoilers
The film was described as a comedy. Whilst the acoholic womanising uncle does have a few moments the whole film is created on a lie about a pending break up to entice the now adult siblings to reunite in harmony. Watching this could turn a man to drink due to the totally depressing conclusion that in fact the parents should really be getting divorced due to the Web of lies and deceppsion the parent's had created to keep the family together. Yes you guessed it a cheating albeit likeable cad of a father who by the grace of God had a wife willing to sacrifice herself to keep the family together. One of the kids is not the mothers but a totally different woman. Who turns up as bold as brass and braisenly drops this bombshell for all to view. What looks like a sweet couple simply trying to have their old family back as a functioning unit simply find out that the entire family has somehow lost all their values or have become broken shells as adults. All I can say is the family need a he'll of allot of therapy to bring them together in one piece....
