A beautifully written episode.

Warning: Spoilers
Contradictory to what other people think, this was a very fresh episode to watch. The alternating flashbacks with the present suspenseful wait till 7:00pm. Absolutely riveting.

And let me explain why.

Remember the other flashback story we had on suits? Rewind S02e08. What was the heart of the flashbacks in that story? To put our characters in perspective, and their decisions in line.

But flashbacks in this story had a different objective. They were meant to ;change; the characters. Put their past in perspective, and determine their future. And how by the end of the episode, they all sacrificed themselves TRULY showed character development.

I mean we're talking about witty, egoistic and self-centered characters. And how their past develops them into people who stop caring about themselves and start caring about their firm (Harvey) by stepping down, and their family (Mike) by resigning.

I only have one thing to say about it.

Det character development doe.

And it was refreshing to see it after 5 years of consistent personalities.

And God, the way this episode was directed. Such a perfect combination of smooth cinematography and brilliant acting. The new character, Father was such a brilliant fit and explains such an important part about Mike's life.

And Donna <3 is back in business. At least it's set into motion. That's all I want for Christsakes. Just a vague chance. xD

And all topped off with the blown up ending of Mike getting arrested, well that'll just keep me waiting for the next season.

What more could you possibly ask from a Season Finale!

As episode reviews go, i don't like to do them, but DAMN!
dimbost29 August 2015
I was starting to lose interest in the show, and was only watching to see how will it end. This season they did start to change few things around, which sparked an interest with me, and then previous episode conclusion made me think, what a fitting end it would be if the show went out it in style. I remember discussing and telling my friends that if I was the writer i would finish the show in the next episode, but he told me that it got approved for 6th season, never the less this was my image:

Harvey see's that there is more to life then his law career, and agrees to Forstman's term and resigns and starts to live his life. Mike resigns because of what Trevor told him and that frees him as well as relieving all of the stress on Rachel. Hardman looses all of his remaining respect as everyone's sees that his words and contracts are meaningless. Louis is left stunned and rushes to Jessica, and the closing scene is Jessica standing all alone in her conference room, realizing that this is now her only life. That apart from this firm she has nothing. Jessica starts to cry.

The whole meaning is that every one got what they deserve, Jessica's obsession with having a law firm, had driven every one away from her, but she is undoubtedly the queen bee there. Litt is still a named partner, but is left reflecting his own life and what is he going to do next. Harvey understands what is the meaning of life and is finally truly happy and free, and Mike is no longer concerned about his past, or his fraudulent life.

I know that it not exactly how it ended, but it was still a great episode, and this leads into the whole of the sixth season is about the trial of Mike Ross and his future.

Gem of an episode
aslv125 February 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Easily one of the best episodes ever in the American television history. This may seem as an overstatement to some but most of the suits fan will agree with me.The direction and screenplay makes this episode stand on par with great and stupendous episodes like 'Ozymandios' from Breaking Bad and 'The Battle of Hardhome' from GOT. A rare admission of his past mistakes finally brings out a moment of human weakness from the Great Harvey Spectre. Mike's story moves your soul. All the supporting cast play out their part beautifully. To be honest I never expected an episode of this quality in this series. And the highlight of the episode is Mike's conversation with the Father. I hope they follow this episode with more masterpieces like this one.

wow : I love this show

I love a show that a) expects you to think and 2) requires your attention ... This is not my favorite episode, _ but I am stunned by the ending.

I also am NOT a fan of "who Shot JR" type finales. _ I hope this one gives the writers more flexibility for character & situation development ... _ so, I am also looking forward to next season.

Doesn't Donna seem to get more beautiful and "important" with each episode? And, I hope to see Gretchen's character developed.

The writers should give Jessica's character a little more care; She is NOT weak. She is "Managing Partner", let her words reflect that strength.

Overall a great episode which contained a bit of everything, was absolutely jaw dropping to watch, Suits is peaking with Season 5, not been one bad episode, 10/10. Best episode of the whole series for me so far.

Wait - wha - huh?
kemority27 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
I misspoke in an earlier review about a previous episode being the mid-season finale. Evidently this one is it.

Haven't seen an episode this emotional, on multiple fronts, since season 4's finale.

Okay, so Mike resigned again though for different reasons. I really hope the showrunners have something epic in store for us, being that Harvey and Mike are the entire premise of the show. I understand character/story development and all, but damn. Another reviewer criticized the flashbacks as being unnecessary. I think the exact opposite is true. They connect both the present of Harvey, Mike, and even Jessica. Harvey basically losing his blood family in the past, while being forced to leave his firm family in the present. Mike dealing with losing his parents and being a rebellious student, while being forced to lose his partnership as a "rebel" lawyer, and Jessica losing her husband while (almost) losing her firm. As for the final scene, that came out of nowhere. But that's okay. Storytelling is a gradual process. I do like how they're giving the Harvey-Louis schism some breathing room, and exploring other plots.

I still want to know what Hardman has over Soloff. And Louis, sorry, but you're a childish idiot.

My Favorite Episode of Suits
thomaslovesvideogames14 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I've been binging suits and I can confidently say that this is one of the most raw and emotional episodes I've seen thus far. It doesn't delay, has no filler of B plots, incorporates all of the main characters perfectly, and finally uses flashbacks optimally (in my opinion). It definitely deserves to be the best rated episode as I'd hoped it would be before ever even leaving this review. This episode is truly the capitulation of this entire season, if not the entire franchise. Amazing plot and build up to an emotion ending, packed with suspense of decisions (like that of Mike and Louis) and excellently delivered speeches. The excitement is unmatched and I can confidently say that this should go down as a cinematic icon and archetype for Television Drama.

Warning: Spoilers
Jessica is my favorite, I love when writers bring her story and letting us know that she was married but got to choose work was chocking to me, I am so looking FWD for the winter to keep watching suits. This ep. was one of my best ep. I have ever seen I never expected that mike will be arrested ! and finally Duna got to see the therapist and yes Harvey does not know what he is missing I wish that we get to see more about Jessica's life in future ep. Suits always gets me stressed but this ep. got me stressed and emotional I am in love with the fact that we get to see Harvey's life before getting into law school. and I never knew that Harvey was dating scotty ever since before law school !! it is a mind blowing ep.

This right in my feels attack, the change of our characters' thinking and personal options, the power of Donna in helping everyone making up their minds, all this made this episode the best so far! We saw Harvey not perfect but human,Mike,Louis and Jessica too! This series never stopped to provoke thinking and that's why it is my favorite and the series that I never want to end!In my opinion its name should be Harvey's Specter Fantastic World!Harvey made a decision that influenced everything,he is the King of this show and his humility in this season made him a role model for anyone wanting to ascend the ladder of professional success!I wait for winter season at ease!

Well that was just OK...
piyushmittal7027 August 2015
Warning: Spoilers
It just didn't do anything great for me.It had nothing that we haven't seen before .Mike leaving the firm , saw that , Daniel attacking Jessica and the firm , saw that. Also the ending felt a little bit shoe horned. It ended on a cliffhanger just for the sake of it.It came out of nowhere. Also I didn't get the Harvey part of it.First of all wasting Harvey in the middle of such a crisis by completely keeping him in the therapist's office .Secondly I thought Forstman had asked Harvey to leave the firm in exchange for a stop of backing towards Hardman but it didn't seem like he had stepped off the firm.. Secondly Harvey's flashback just wasn't needed and if you think about it not even Mike's.Although I did feel sad when I saw him cry at the end but other than that , nothing. So to summarize this episode was made like this just for the sake of it since it is the mid season finale.

Creme de la Creme!
Hitchcoc30 August 2023
What a terrific show. There are villains galore. Some might say they are right there in the firm and may be some of our favorites. Soloff and Hardman and their supporters. Then we have an undercurrent of people who would like to see the firm go down. A vote is going to determine whether Jessica keeps her prime position. Jack has the votes because Forstman is backing him financially. What they hadn't counted on was that Forstman is more interested in destroying Harvey than feathering the nests of these guys. So some interesting negotiating goes on. We also get some flashbacks of the chilldhoods of Mike and Harvey, showing how their personalities were formed.
