Die Gest: Flesh Eater (2018) was originally conceived in 2015 as 'Die-Gest: Flesh Feast' by filmmaker Dan Brownlie of Brand-B Productions after the planned sequel to Self Induced Nightmares (2013) fell through, however the production was eventually handed over to Tony Newton to complete.
An early concept for Die Gest: Flesh Eater (2018) was to feature a TV 'horror host', dressed as a chef, who would introduce each segment, this concept was abandoned after production delays forced a quick turnaround on the post-production.
An early concept for Die Gest: Flesh Eater (2018) was to have the various story segments inter-cut between the channel-hopping of the 'Meat Feast' chapter, implying the character from that segment was watching all the other stories on his TV set while waiting for his pizza delivery, this concept was abandoned after production delays forced a quick turnaround on the post-production.
All the stories presented in Die Gest: Flesh Eater (2018) connect via the themes of food and eating.
The title is a play on the word "digest", which is what the body does to break down food into substances that can be absorbed and used by the body.
