After Peter Capaldi announced he would be stepping down as the Twelfth Doctor for Doctor Who (2005), there was intense speculation as to who would become the next Doctor. In February 2017, BBC Newsnight joined in the speculation by airing an erratically edited and inaccurately numbered montage of previous Doctors. The montage concluded with "15?" superimposed over an atmospheric scene of a man standing under a lowering sky with his back to the camera. The scene was from this episode of Lucifer - and despite the "15?" - helped add fuel to rumors Tom Ellis was in the running to play the Thirteenth Doctor.
The title is said by Lucifer.
Father Frank's words about Conner, " He's had it rough but there's still hope" are also a reflection of Lucifer.
Lucifer also lost his family, in the abandonment sense. And has been vilified as the Greatest Evil for centuries. Since Lucifer met Chloe, he's been growing and changing as a person.
