British star chef Robert Holt is fatally stabbed, back in front, in restaurant Le Calmar; which he opened on St.Marie hours before, no robbery yet phone and fat wallet are missing. He didn't mix with locals, but his bully nature gave offense and motives to all who came with him from England. His rowdy brother Gary, who was recently released from jail having served time for Robert's London bar brawl, has no alibi but debts after a failed marriage and business. The others are each-others alibi at the villa, with motives: abused gay sous-chef Dexter Allen, penniless life partner Anouk Laban, pastry chef and ex Kim Sweeney suspected of 'recipe espionage', even teen son Matt whose photography course he refused to pay as 'futile'. Despite Dwayne's blind witness, an urchin who found the phone and illegal footage of the opening revealing a row and offshore bank accounts, Goodman can only solve the case by reassessing the suspect stories as a convoluted plot.
