After writer/director Dylan R. Nix released the short 'sIcKoS: The Very First Ones' only a few weeks passed before he wrote the feature script to 'Baron Von Laugho's Halloween Spook-A-Thon!' and began principal photography with the goal of completing the film and releasing it October 2015 on Amazon Prime. But after set back after set back which ranged from lead actors leaving the project to going over budget to time constraints and a slew of other issues, the project was nearly abandoned completely, before finally being completed in September 2016 with a release date of October 21, 2016.
Before the film was nearly abandoned 3 of the 4 shorts that make up the feature were already completed and were going to be released separately on YouTube.com until the tragic death of Nix's older brother pushed him to complete the film.
A majority of the film was shot in Baltimore, Maryland while the 'That's No Bear!' sequence was shot in Green Cove Springs, Florida.
The original titles of the four segments that make up the film were to be as followed, 'The Lost Taping of Baron Von Laugho', 'Daring Derek, Ep. 39', 'The Karvers' and 'The Hotel Dead'. However after numerous rewrites the only original segments that remain nearly completely unchanged are 'Laugho' and 'The Karvers'. The new segments are 'That's No Bear!' and 'The Hallowed Sin', both of which were scripts or parts of other scripts that Nix reworked into this film.
The film is inspired by Halloween TV specials from the 70s and 80s and a legion of other horror films.
