During the first 28 seconds or so, I was thinking "oh great, another doomsday film". But after around a minute in, I was hooked. I know my ticket covered the cost of the whole seat, but all I needed was the edge.

This thrill ride lasts every second. The twist ending was unexpected. I am shocked there is no sequel in the works at the time I'm writing this. This film inspired me to persue my acting career.

I can't wait to preorder the Blu-ray edition with the deleted scenes/alternate ending.

The kissing scene was so believable that I thought maybe one of the actors was actually feeling it was real.

Beginning, middle, end. This has it all. No wonder it's award-winning. You'll watch again and again.

I created an account just to write this review. The Web won highest honors at the ELAIFF (if you don't know what ELAIFF stands for, you don't know film). Anyways to win at the biggest film festival in the world was only fitting for The Web. Johnny Depp and Bill Gates both star in this non stop thrill ride. I was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I am going to watch this again and again. Literally once I am done writing this review I am going to watch The Web once again. It blew away its competition at ELAIFF and for good reason. The acting, even from the extras, was spectacular. Amazing directing, writing, and editing.

What a relief I came across this beautiful film, it had everything I was looking for. Amazing performances, a real love story, and suspense so real I was on the edge of my seat. As soon as the credits rolled, I was in tears. Just so beautiful I couldn't hold myself. 10/10

This movie unfortunately only showed at a small theatre during the Eastern Los Angeles Film Festival in 2013. But news of its brilliance spread slowly but surely and people from places as foreign as Japan and even more foreign like China ensured the legacy of this movie.

Nathan graduated from one of Canada's top business schools with really good grades, which really comes across in his attention to detail in the production of this movie. His on screen chemistry with Jessie, as well as the back and forth banter with Ronnie, not forgetting customer #62, leaves you glued to the screen as the plot unfolds.

My only disappointment was that the cameraman's name or gender was not listed in the credits, therefore I have only given 9/10

Just watch this one in the Eastern Los Ángeles Film Festival.This film is probably the best Sci-Fi film ever created.Great Performances by Johnny Depp who looked really different in this film probably because the physical changes that he had to make for his character.Nathan Fielder who wrote,directed and stared in this film was amazing.His performance was amazing with that heartbreaking scene with his girlfriend.I heard that while shooting the scene Nathan Fielder really catched feelings with the actress of his girlfriend on the film.This shows how into his character was Nathan.Talking about performances the girl that spend 87$ dollars did an amazing performance.And I heard she never has acted before.So an Oscar might be on the way.

Overall I would call this film a masterpiece and an amazing First Film by Fielder .This movie keeps you at the edge of your seat at every moment.It's beautifully shot.With Breathtaking shots and Masterfully tension.This Might be the best film I've ever seen.2001 stays behind.Greatest Film Ever Made Hands Down.

I think I was mostly surprised to find this was more than just a CGI action fest. The romance sub plot had a lot of chemistry.

My girlfriend often says the main problem with Hollywood (among many) is that it seems to have a skill to bury interesting thoughts. Screenplay writers, directors, and producers base their films on fresh and intriguing ideas; however, by the end of almost any modern movie, they become completely exhausted and the audience can always predict the finale.

The atmosphere of the film is impressing, especially in the beginning, when it shocks viewers with its novelty. Action scenes, due to the use of illusionists' tricks, also look impressive. But closer to the middle of the movie the tension weakens, and then simply fades away. The creators of "The Web" managed to intrigue the audience, but failed to sustain it; the finale was predictable.

Nathan Fielder has already established himself as an exceptionally smart and visionary industry savant, but this project has topped it all. I would say that I watch and study filmmaking as an industry for a significant portion of my day most days out of the year. But I also view this medium as an art form. As a scholar and (what I would consider myself) a non-biased reviewer, I think that I can safely say that this is hands down the most important, most impactful, most emotional, most provocative, most--and here's that word again-- visionary piece of art that the world has ever seen. On an objective artistic scale, the greats of every medium pale in comparison: every magnum opus, every masterpiece. Music has its Mozarts in classical form, its visionaries in contemporary times. People say that words never had it so good with Shakespeare. Obviously this is still a small portion of literature; but the point is moot. The same argument can be made with every medium of art, painting, sculpture, animation, drama, even video games, etc. The Web has a little of everything for everyone. Fielder, ever the auteur, compliments his film with staggering Kubrickian cinematography, Citizen Kane levels of technological and storytelling breakthroughs, and a story constructed from the sheer unadulterated willpower of every poet and dreamer this world has ever seen put together. After seeing this film, I believe we have reached the peak of human performance; we have Tower of Babel'd. There is no singular factor that can improve a person's life more, in the arts or anywhere else, for that matter-- than viewing the web at least once.

The film itself gets a 6 or 7. I'm not sure how it won so many awards. It did really make me think about the world and how technology is really taking over, but all in all there was very little character development, the characters were very 2 dimensional and the plot moved way too fast to keep track of.

It gets a 10 because of the actors and the timeliness of the plot. Larry King was great as Bill Gates. I saw a side to Gates that I have never seen in real life. I also think this was Johnny Depp's best work since the film Black Mass. I think he should get an Oscar. Not a real Oscar - a payback one for Black Mass. Most of the newcomers were pretty good but the owner of the souvenir shop was unconvincing. Didn't seem very passionate about shop keeping at all. Probably would've made more sense as a cop or an astronaut or in some other line of work.

The film was also released at the perfect time. With technology at every turn, the spread is happening right before our eyes. Everyone has a phone, which has a microchip in it. People have Siri living with them. Elon Musk has gone to space with electric space shuttles, meaning there is now electricity in space. We really need to be careful before we face the same disasters as seen in The Web, but this time Johnny Depp won't be here to help. Johnny Depp is not a computer hacker, and he's a boomer so statistically he has trouble even using a modern computer.

What I liked least was how fast the plot moved. You can tell it moved fast because it's much shorter than most films, which are usually at least 90 minutes long. Most films would explain how exactly technology spreads to asteroids, but The Web thinks you already know. This is fine, because scientists need to enjoy cinema too, but for the average joe like you or me, it doesn't make a lot of sense. Nonetheless, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because I am not part of the target audience.

I'm giving The Web ten out of ten (10/10) because I have a lot of hope for the sequel. Unfortunately it seems as though there is no sequel in store just yet. I know that The Web was produced independently, and that that is expensive, so I think writers should take this to production companies and vow to make a film that is equally good.

I was one of the lucky few to see this film at the Eastern LA International Film Festival. The film - an action drama with hints of many of the greats (Stan Kubrick, Dennis Dugàn...) - it is clear to see this screenplay was first of its kind.

Set in an altruistic future - where a brilliant programmer has to hack a rebarbative asteroid Fielder has imagined the effect on a group of shoppers. Johnny Depp is in his best since 'Lady Blue'; in one of his most memorable performances to date. The chemistry between the characters was nothing but expeditious and the final act held so much drama and thrill that it is easy to see why this film is the award winning film it was advertised to be. After seeing the previous documentary-exposé ("Me Farting on Command") the atmosphere in the room was palpable (one doesn't want to throw the word glacé around too much!)

To anyone who has seen Johnny Depp's earlier work and liked his classics - 'Dead Men Tell No Tales', 'Untitled Short; I seriously recommend this parfois to modern action. This movie is a romp and a riot and a goof and also a gaff.

A perfect film - 6/10 -McLovin, Fogel

Everything wrong with the award shows these days. 'Me farting on command' was completely snubbed and it's not just a masterpiece but is insightful and informative about how our society is shaping out to be and the restrictions of modern day and how our id and ego has shaped us. Whereas 'the web' is just another money grab that has the same incredibly predictable plot and attractive actors tied to it (especially the dark haired and well dressed sidekick to kip played by Johnny depp) . Despite its lack of creativity and any real ideas behind this I did like the cameo from bill gates and thought his performance was great. But I'm summary it sucks and farting on command was robbed of the ELAFF award.

I have to write 150 characters here even though Fielder's masterpiece can truly summed up in one word. Yes.. just one word. A very good word in fact. A word you won't believe when you hear it.

This is a really good movie, and it received award recognition from an actual film industry professional who was an uncredited script supervisor on Bonnie and Clyde. I really enjoyed its solid continuity.

This movie changed my life. I can not understate the influence this film has had on my very state of being. It was a revelation and a breath of fresh air. It brings forth waves of emotions that take forms one can barely comprehend. Pure. Artistic. Genius.

"The Net" with Sandra Bullock could learn a thing or two from this film. "The Net" was a big film, but the "The Web" has more heart, better plot, more action and hotter actors/actresses. Even the pacing of this film is better. If you want to escape these crazy times and just enjoy a good movie, you should pick "The Web". Hollywood has been put on notice, the next, Johnny Depp or Tom Cruise or Clint Eastwood has arrived and his name is Nathan Fielder. Get your sunglasses on folks, this young super-star shines bright!

Greatest movie ever made that not only kept me in full suspense but also finally allowed me to believe in love.

The entire film is intense and action packed! The direction, the acting, and the writing is the best I've seen in a while! This genius could only come from someone who graduated from one of Canada's top business schools with really good grades!

This movie really makes you feel like Bill Gates. The emotions on display blew me away, I could barely believe I was watching actors. A motion picture such as this doesn't come often, the ELAIFF award is more than deserved. Simply a masterpiece of cinematography and character writing.

Out of ever movie I ha e seen this is by far! The best! Omg! It was so exquisite I almost pooped my pants ngl. It was very stellar xd lol!
