Great show but Andrew O'Keefe needs to go.
Andy_Aitken15 January 2019
My reason for the low rating is Andrew O'Keefe. My god he's annoying and difficult to watch in anything, even in his stint during weekend Sunrise had me turn off. Of the 20+ million people in Australia he's picked for TV? He cannot talk without his hands, waving those things wildly with every word he utters and his far left views are not what is needed on TV, at all. Apart from that, when contestants on the Chase are trying to answer questions his delivery and inability to control his monkey spankers I'm sure makes it hard for them to answer correctly.

Great Trivia Show. Forget the poor comedy
Tak0058 February 2019
If you are into Trivia, this is a great show. However, it is let down by the often cringeworthy attempts at humour, which are obviously scripted. Could be much more enjoyable if all involved acted naturally.

Some interesting differences to the UK version
safenoe3 September 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Andrew O'Keefe is an amiable host and in fact he's a nephew of Australian rock legend the late Johnny O'Keefe. One difference between the Australian version and the UK version is that in the Australian one - after the cash builder, the contestant isn't given an opportunity to get feedback from his/her team members on whether to take the higher amount, so no "I think you can take on The Beast but we need you back here for the final chase".

Another difference is that the Chaser sits in at the end when the team goes for the final chase.

Another difference is financial. When I first watched The Chase Australia I was impressed when one of the contestants earned $20,000 in the cash builder. Wow, he got 20 questions correct! But no, get got 10 correct (still good) but in Australia each question earns the contestant $2,000 instead of in the UK where they earn 1,000 GBP per question. I guess it's an exchange rate thing. Which makes me wonder, if there's an Indian version of the Chase, would be it be 10,000 rupees per question? Maybe.

The Chase Australia has two British chasers...The Beast and The Governess.

Headwreck on his podium
kamenwozere26 September 2018
For such a fantastic show with many spinoffs across the globe, the twitching presenter Andrew can't get enough of listening to himself babble on absolute nonsense. With a great selection of chasers and questions relating to the Australian general knowledge, this idealistic daily gameshow is smeared with a bad selected host.

Disappointed contestants don't get to final chase.
simmonsj-6125015 December 2021
Love Larrie. But how come contestants who obtain high scores can't get through the chaser. Disappointed when most the contesants don't get through. Would rather see 3 _4get through and loose in the final chase.

Need Changes in the show
jendowoz9 February 2023
I like watching The Chase, Australia but I would like to see a few changes.

1. The A and B set, contestants have to choose at the end seems unfair. One set us obviously harder than the other. If the chasers are so clever they should always be given the harder set of questions to give the contestants a fair chance.

2. The contestants should be given something at the end even if it's a consolation prize. To leave with nothing doesn't really give them any satisfaction or fulfillment for being on there.

3. In the final chase the contestants have to hear their name said before they can answer that can add up to seconds, which could make all the difference in the outcome, whereas the chaser can answer immediately, so I think the contestants should be given an extra 30 seconds to answer their questions.

4. Lastly, Larry is good and tries really hard to read the questions at the same rate, but I have noticed he sometimes reads those for the chaser faster than he does for the contestants.

O'Keefe stinks
copcar-3277411 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
To me it appears that Andrew O'Keefe thinks the show is all, maybe only, about him. His hand waving and fake laugh along with his feeble attempt at accents make the show unbearable to watch. I like the English show and find the only difference to me is the host. The English one very good but Andrew O'Keefe not very good at all.

terrible babbling idiot
meltyson697 September 2018
Used to like this but has been unbearable for quite some time, now its at that totally unwatchable stage with okeefs stupid constant gibbitzing. As another reviewer mentioned if you ask someone a question have the respect & decency to answer without your constant babbling interruptions,& that uber annoying fake mental patient laugh.Just SHUT UP for a second & let people speak without constant interruption & treating them like children, then there's that flailing of the arms & hands.Wont be watching this one again but the uk one is much much better

Unwatchable egomaniac O'Keefe
crw118 February 2021
As another reviewer said - unwatchable. The theartical hands, the facials, the awful false laugh ... and awful more. Like supersmug Tony Barber, O'Keefe oozes vanity, thinks it's the Andrew O'Keefe Show. Thank fate he's gone (though for bad reasons). Hope 7 get someone quietly competent like Glenn Ridge or Ed Phillips - not another bighead like Rove Mc (or Mac).

SPOILER ALERT: this show sucks
bigmama-603777 July 2018
Warning: Spoilers
How did this get renewed for a second season? this show is cringey, and definitely a waste of a valuable time slot on one of Australia's most popular channels; GWN. Everything seems fake about it, and surely the 'chasers' are not that arrogant in real life, and if so, they need some help. The chasers' rude attitude makes this show awful to watch and I think that overall, it's one of the WORST programs on the television ever. At best, this should only be on during daytime TV hours of nobody's home to watch OH CLOCK. adios.

Warning: Spoilers
With respect, I do not miss the dramatics of Andrew. I felt his style took away the attention and intelligence of both the chasers and contestants.

I would like to know why the chasers always wear the same outfits . The pussycat bow worn by the Governess for example needs to go!

A shadow of the original.
murraycr28 June 2019
Andrew O'Keefe is a terrible host and the show needs better question writers. The incessant nervous prattle of Mr O'Keefe makes the show virtually unwatchable. He fails to establish a rapport with contestants who appear to have been coached to be as colourful (and obnoxious) as possible. These contestants seem stupendously ill-informed about most topics. Perhaps because of this, the questions are sloppily written and far too easy during the individual chase segment. The three choices provided to contestants should be real and offer a genuine challenge. It seems The Chase Australia's writers can't be bothered to do this. The only difference that I like is that contestants don't have to consult with their team-mates before choosing the level at which they will compete.

arniebraun-2805510 December 2020
This clown must do these ridiculous antics just to annoy,it really is unbearable now all the jabbering over the top of contestants after asking them a question. Then there's the ridiculous forced laugh, even more ridiculous attempts at accents, waving hysterically of the hands, the condescending nature towards contestants & the constant incessant babbling, all this has made this version unwatchable.

They just don't get it!!
grif-395472 October 2018
The UK Chaser is fantastic, the Australiam one unwatchable ...why? The only reason is the music... it's played loudly all the time when people are talking....it means the contestants, the Chaser, the audience battle to hear whats being said. Don't the producers get that we have to actually hear whats being said??? Don't they get that you can't have loud music playing at the same time as talking.... why is it even necessary to have loud noise all the time????

Mediocre Room for improvement
Top1c3xot1c26 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Too many differences from original. The amount of money you can potentially win, is miserable. Not to mention that the group of people are random, have to somehow join together, who can't even chat strategy preshow. The questions are ridiculously hard, I feel like I'm watching who wants to be a millionaire, obsolete now with hot seat however the prize money is enormously high. I prefer to watch deal or no deal repeats even though it has similar payout, which Family Feud can triumph, potentially 50k + Trax.

very poor, the worst game show.
merem121 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Nobody ever wins the cash prize on this show. The show is rigged. The contestants always lose at the end. The host is an annoying joke. He is not funny. The contestants are really dumb players who always say "pass". There is no prize money on the show. It is all taken away from the contestants at the end when the chaser beats them in the final chase. The show has to stop. This show is not a game. it is a waste of time. You get nothing at the end of it.

Rigged
maccas-5636719 February 2024
Occasionally in life you witness an injustice that moves you to the point of action. The recent episode of The Chase Australia had this particular impact on me.

Now, before I start: Larry Emdur is an excellent game show host (including here). He's in his element, captivating and fun, delivers questions clearly.

The Chasers themselves are incredibly talented. Each of them seems genuine, like somebody I'd want to be friends with. They're naturals onscreen. Each of them is doing an excellent job of promoting trivia in Australia.

My issue is with the producers and Channel 7. The episode featured Goliath successfully chasing down 17 'steps'. It was apparently his 'most ever.' The total (by the four-person team) was $107,000.

The face of one contest during The Final Chase said it all: one of disbelief that such a mainstream show would stoop to such low tactics. The questions delivered to Goliath were noticeably a different level (easier) than those given to the contestants. We're talking Primary School-easy.

Examples included: Q: What cricket team is known as the Windies? A: West Indies. Q: What sport involves bending a rod? A: Fishing.

Instead of risking having to payout a possible $107,000, it would seem the producers set Goliath up for an easy slam dunk. I won't be watching again.
