The Name in itself
tonysd-7073115 October 2019
I am not sure if anyone mentioned this but the lead's name was the first thing I picked up on... Malison, some might think its a combination of Melissa and Allison or Malory and Allison, but it comes from old latin (as if it could be anything else) Maledicere meaning to speak badly of a man or a male figure. However in the 13th century after Malison became gender neutral, and was being used more often, it took on a new meaning, in today's webster, the word Malison means CURSE, TO CURSE or CURSED.

So using it as a First Name, was creatively a good idea, I can see how it might have been overlooked by the audience, specially since Malison is not something one hears in a day to day conversation, besides it has largely been supplanted by its younger cousin MALEDICTION.

The Hexecutioners review
JoeytheBrit3 July 2020
A murky horror picture in which two young women are despatched to a remote, creepy old house to assist its occupant in a mercy killing. Once there, they find that things are not quite what they seem. Weak and unfocused, with a very slow build to a confusing climax. The lead character will lose most viewers' sympathies early on when she abandons her pet cat in the countryside.

What a bore. What was it about anyway?
Finfrosk869 March 2016
Alright, so this movie started out kind of good. Had a creepy moment in the beginning. Unfortunately this early moment was the best (and scariest) thing about the whole movie.

A shame, because this movie had potential. Sort of. But it's taken in the wrong direction, and just wasted. To be honest, for it to be better the whole plot should have developed in another direction. Meaning, you know, different plot.

It has decent acting, looks decent, but it's just too boring. Boring, and just doesn't add up. Being boring is the worst thing a movie can be, because movies exist solely to entertain.

So, to sum up, slow, boring, and almost nothing happens in this "horror" movie. Better luck next time.

Confusing
Stevieboy6667 November 2018
This film starts off fairly straightforward. Euthanasia has been legalized and two young, attractive women, who carry out this work, have been assigned a job at a large creepy mansion. It reveals that this place and it's owners are involved in some sort of dark Himalayan (I think) cult and it all gets very weird and hard to follow. Visually it's OK so rather try and understand the plot I just went along that. Strange film, I wouldn't waste my time trying to understand it with a second viewing.

Cheap and digital, say no more
Leofwine_draca11 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
THE HEXECUTIONERS is another cheap, digital indie horror with some fun stylistic touches and a novel premise, wasted in a drawn-out, slow-as-molasses execution. With poorly-written and unengaging characters and a story that prides itself on simplicity, this feels repetitive in the extreme. The digital look doesn't help much either. There are some deeply unpleasant touches here, especially early on, but things get increasingly silly as the story progresses and the CGI climax is a step too far.

2 girls work for a company who assists family's in helping there loved ones commit suicide or is it murder.
tkaine33 June 2016
So I watched this movie with a guarded reviewers mind because I was fed words like boring and having no point. Well those who felt that way in my opinion were 50% on point because the movie was definitely not boring. The movie starts off with a couple quick scares that were pretty creepy in the first 10 mins. Liv Collins plays the lead and has one of those faces that is very recognizable but you have no idea where you've seen her before, and Sarah Power who has been in some very popular movies American Pie being one of them, Shows us she has a lot of hidden talent along with her Beautiful looks. The acting, writing and score was all above average and quite enjoyable. Every character thru the first half had a witty dialogue that was lightly comedic at times. The pace of the movie was also fine and had pretty good mystery injected into the storyline. And that's where it all starts to crumble bringing me back to the other 50% of having no point or a very unfulfilling storyline. A sky burial was something I heard of but never really did any investigating on the ritual, it's pretty disturbing and knowing that some tribes or abarrigian people still carryout this Tibetan style burial is mind blowing, The problem with this movie was the fact we really don't get the right information as to why this is even taking place along with other characters popping up saying a few words and then disappearing. It's also unclear as to why a character can go from being frightened by everything in their surroundings and then a minute later wants to explore every creepy room they come too. Too many other characters were a mystery and remained that way confusing the watcher even more. I give it a 4/10 I wouldn't highly recommend this movie but it was OK to watch a good original idea and good film quality but the actions of some of the characters and story line was completely Horrific and not in the good way👎.

Monotonous movie with a lack of story...
paul_haakonsen4 January 2019
Given the movie's cover, I must admit that I was immediately lured in. The promise of a horror movie is always something that gets my attention. I hadn't heard about this movie prior to finding it. I didn't read the synopsis, I just picked it up and decided to give it a go.

Somewhat of a mistake on my side. Because this movie was horribly boring and pointless. The movie started out rather well, but then it fell into a seemingly endless spiral and never recovered, and the movie just kept getting more and more boring as it progressed.

So boring that I turned it off with only about 10 minutes remaining. I was ready to call it quits at 1 hour into the ordeal, but decided against it in the slight hope that the movie would improve. It didn't!

"The Hexecutioners" offers nothing of any interest at any level. Well, aside from it actually having fairly adequate acting performances from a rather small and limited crew of performing actors and actresses. Just a shame that they had absolutely nothing to work with in terms of script and storyline.

My rating of 3 out of 10 is solely based on the production level of the movie, because that was rather good. Everything else in the movie, not so good.

This movie is not one that I could or would recommend that you waste your time, money or effort on. I did, and I regret it horribly.

Loses its way
augustian12 January 2019
The story centres on two young women recruited into a euthanasia company; Malison, (Liv Collins) a timid girl who does it because she needs the money; and Olivia, a cynical street-wise woman who, well, just does it. The job in hand just happens to be at the usual creepy Gothic mansion, overseen by the usual creepy keeper, Edgar, (Tim Burd) who instructs the women that the death must be carried out to a strict ritual.

It should be said that there is no problem with the acting which is superb, even by the minor characters, but some of the CGI is not so good and then there is the supernatural element when faceless figures appear and then there is the little girl. Also, some things do not add up. For instance, rooms which are pitch black suddenly have lots of lit candles - how does that happen? The ending, for me anyway, did not make much sense, but by then I was losing interest. A pity because it could have been different.

Stylish ...
parry_na10 May 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Malison McCourt is a hypersensitive young woman who, it is fair to say, has a lot on her plate. Living alone in a run-down apartment with her cat, the job she needs involves working for a euthanasia company. Her deeply superstitious landlord disapproves of this and makes her homeless. For all the unpleasant things that happen in this film, I don't mind admitting the moment I 'teared up' is when she abandoned her cat in the wilderness.

Malison is teamed up with Olivia Bletcha: sexy, confident and every bit as lonely as Malison. Together they travel to a remote castle for the latest 'closure' (the company word for euthanasia). This interesting premise is diluted by the arrival of Edgar (Tim Burd) who is the heavily clichéd creepy host, complete with emaciated gait and growling whisper. Naturally, there is a somewhat eccentric ritual to accompany this latest passing.

Sadly, moments of interest become more and more isolated as the ominous ruminations of a typical haunted house are further rolled out, including sinister whisperings from a 'ghostly' little girl which are delivered with all the disinterest you would expect from a bored 8 year old drama student. Malison becomes possessed by the evil - we know this because she suddenly starts using profanities. The demonic host looks not unlike a white-haired Kiwi Kingston from 1962's 'Evil of Frankenstein'. Events continue to spiral, becoming very visually impressive, but sadly the drama becomes increasingly disjointed and less and less easy to relate to. It is a shame things become so patchy because so much is well done here - rich direction from Jesse Thomas Cook, excellent locations, good production values and mostly very competent performances.

Count the candles whilst you wait for something to happen.
martynmccarthy196521 March 2019
A film that you would think would be asking questions on the morality of euthanasia, as this is the employment of the main characters, but no, it doesn't. It does start off doing so when we hear the brooding sermonising of Walter Bardon as the bible bellowing Mr Poole. Once Malison's out of the way we soon realise this becomes just a ghost story set around the ending of an old mans life by euthansia. Nothing really wrong with the opening scenes where we are introduced to the main characters: Liv Collins as Malison, a poverty stricken, conscientious novice who fouls up on her debut assignment in her new employment. And Sarah Power as Olivier, a professionally detatched, tough, badd-ass with 3 years service who gets partnered up with Malison on her next assignment to get her over her inept start. The competant acting arises some optimism for the rest of the film, but sadly this soon disolves when the ghosts start appearing and disappearing without doing much else but appear then disappear. This is where counting candles may become a suitable alternative to watching the lack of any worthwile action. In fact the most creepy creep around is the house steward, the son of the doomed owner, another well acted role. The final scenes, the expected demise of the owner of the house, rise to something which we would have hoped would have been the norm for the middle part. It is right out of Edgar Allan Poe territory, before the film loses it's way with a couple of more deaths, one not surprising but gruesome, and one surprising but less gruesome. The film rounds off with a rather pointless ending.

There's a word for that.
nogodnomasters29 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Reserved, nervous, quiet, and prudish Malison McCourt (Liv Collins) recently got a job with Life Source Closure, a home assisted suicide company. She had difficultly with her first assignment so they team her up with a veteran Olivia Bletcher (Sarah Power) who appears to enjoy her work, however they stopped short of creating an enjoyable over-the-top character which this film so desperately needed.

The girls get assigned to a special case in a rural area where the man wants to undergo a killing involving a ritualistic knife and feeding him to the birds in a sky altar ceremony. The roles become reversed as Olivia balks at the idea while Malison seems possessed citing the company manual on customer satisfaction.

The film is your average horror with a euthanasia twist. They could have done better with the characters.

Guide: F-word. Nudity (Sarah Power)

Don't get it.
vengeance2016 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Got round to watching this a few days ago but wasn't blown away after watching it.

The film is about 2 women who provide euthanasia service. One day they are tasked to go to a remote location where their next client is. But have no idea of how sinister this next job will be...!

The film wasn't great. It dragged & dragged until it got somewhere. But even then the pay off wasn't all that. The gore was little to nothing & the premise wasn't at all interesting or even remotely memorable.

Overall 3/10

This Is A GD Suicide Mission So, Take No Prisoners!!!!
wandernn1-81-68327417 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Haha, we start off here with a euthanizing gone wrong. But loyal husband, he finishes it!!!

+1 Star for the husband not fooling around!!!

And then girl is going to be sent on with a partner with an associate for a SPECIAL CLIENT.

Edgar. And much hilarity ensues..

-1 Star for the scene in which Olivia like....dies but then doesn't die. Poison? Stroke? Whatever it was she like came back to life and no big deal was made of it.

So basically it sounds like Euthanasia girls are getting roped into performing some kind of sacrificial ritual for a bunch of pagans. And they aren't bright enough to see it. But MALLORY , odd name, she keeps having visions or dreams or whatever that are freaking her out.

Oh nm it's MALLISON, even worse. MALLISON AND OLIVIA, they spend like 20 min of the movie looking for each other in the House. And Edgar

SO THE TASK IS SIMPLE! Kill an old man on an altar in the entrance to the hedge maze. While Edgar reads the ritual book!!! There's nothing untowards about it!!! Just a couple of young girls doing their JOB!!! Oh and the killing is done like a music video. Man it is AWESOME!! aND THEN WHEN EDGAR SLITS HIS OWN THROAT!!!! MAN THAT WAS AWESOME!!!! AND THEN OLIVIA RUNS FOR HER LIFE!!!! And so does MALLISON!!!

Demon figures are chasing them!! then when Mallison whacks OLIVIA OVER THE HEAD WITH A SHOVEL AND DEMONS BURY OLIVIA IN A GRAVE, YOU FEEL ABSOLUTELY SO GOOD NOW ABOUT YOURSELF AND WHAT YOU JUST WATCHED YOU HAVE A CONNIPTION FIT!!!!

-1 Star for the CONNIPTION FIT!!!!!

At the End, Mallison returns somewhere? Home?? And cuddles up to a black cat!!! We get some ominous music as MALLISON WALKS WHILE HUGGING THIS BLACK CAT!!

-1 Star for the creepy crud ending. Please .

That was not what I expected
RandomTard31 January 2021
This movie starts like any other cheap, akward and clumsy b-horror movie could. Things move along and then after some time the people making this film apparently start taking drugs and everything goes weird. All reason and sense are thrown out of the window and you start asking questions - like "What the hell was that?" Or "Who is that and where did he come from?" Or even "Did somebody change the channel, this doesn't seem like the same movie anymore?".

Well yes, it's artsy and strange - a little bit boring. But is it any good? That's a difficult question. I'd say it's pretty well made, acting is ok. But what is it, it's clearly not a simple horror movie but more of an art movie - and for one of those I'd say it's decent. But I didn't start watching a freaking art movie, so I'm not happy.

Well produced with an interesting story
mjsreg3 September 2019
I don't know why the low rating on here. Perhaps it needed too much thinking about for the average slasher movie fan.

The story is intriguing as it starts out quite normal and soon descends in to darkness with wonderful acting by all the main cast, and real through from the production team in putting all together - in a very atmospheric visual experience.

This is the kind of movie you have to watch properly - then you really get drawn in to the world of the characters and the unfolding sinister experience.

This film is worth so much more than the 4 rating on here.

THE HEXECUTIONERS' SONG
mmthos23 April 2021
Nifty little Horror-Thriller bout a couple of professional euthanists who get in over their heads when a client pays extra for "special dispensations" that include ritual sacrifice.

You've seen all these images before, but seldom so satisfyingly assembled and the wonderful soundtrack sounds like sackbuts blaring from some remote Himalayan mountain monastery of Satanists.

A welcome surprise.
