I don't know if non-Chicanx will fully appreciate what this film does, but I don't really care. I get this film on so many levels! It grabbed me from the beginning because I was finally seeing myself and my friends. It's obviously made for my cultural eyes and tastes, because everything from the authentic Spanglish to the jokes to the hot lesbian sex scenes ring true! I was really surprised by how this film dealt with really difficult issues within our community, never expected puppets! Those scenes especially blew me away. My friends and I have been watching it over and over again to catch all of the little details we missed the first few viewings. Love that the acting is so good to! Finally, a non-cheesy lesbian film I can enjoy and ponder deeply.
