Slow episode
MomentIMDB22 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The episode focuses on Hiltop and the Saviors, and Rosita and Sasha going to kill Negan.

The episode begins by showing hiltop and people working and practicing to fight.

Sasha and Rosita embark on their journey when saviors arrive, and Daryl and Maggie hide in the cellar.

the part of rosita and sasha could be reduced and save us intracendent dialogue. Rosita and Sasha talking about their feelings, I liked them a lot. The assassination attempt was already waiting for me.

the hiltop part could also last less and trim the scenes that contribute nothing.

the best of the episode was daryl apologizing to maggie, an emotional and well managed moment.

the episode ends with sasha entering the sanctuary so that rosita escapes and the latter meets a shadow. Who will it be

Pretty average (also, I like Jesus now)
mku1tr43 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Pretty average episode. It was really invigorating to see Maggie again, and that scene with Daryl... Beautiful. It makes me want to rewatch the show and analyze the complex relationships among the -now enormous- group. I feel there's an interesting emotional universe behind worth thinking about.

As per the Sasha-Rosita subplot... I didn't hate it, but it doesn't deliver. I actually would have love it if it had had a prolonged development over the season, but they did what they could with a limited on-screen time. I should add that I do think their actions are credible and valid, because people 'be like that' when grief goes places. Nevertheless, I enjoyed Christian Serratos performance and body language -and her character Rosita, even though people seem to loathe her-.

On another note, I do like Jesus now? I don't know how this happened.

The Widows of Abraham
claudio_carvalho19 March 2017
In Hilltop, Maggie and Sasha are training the residents to fight with knife. Rosita meets Sasha and they plan to go to the Savior's facility to kill Negan. Out of the blue, the Saviors arrive at Hilltop to take Dr. Harlan Carlson with them to be the substitute for their former medical physician murdered by Negan. Gregory makes a deal with Simon to be protected by The Savior. Maggie and Daryl hide themselves in a basement while Rosita and Sasha leave the colony. They sneak out into the Savior's facility and wait for Negan in an empty building with a rifle to assassinate him. Will they succeed in their intent?

"The Other Side" is a poor episode of "The Walking Dead". It is hard to understand the brainless attitudes of Rosita and Sasha in a suicidal mission. They are rivals and both miss Abraham, but it is not justification for such stupid idea in a moment when their friends are preparing to attack the Saviors. Gregory is a despicable character but Eugene is loathsome with his instinct of survive. My vote is six.

I don't mind extensive dialogue but...
digitalboy7229 January 2020
Sasha failing to take out Negan when she had at least three good chances is beyond ridiculous! She had him in her scope, he was *RIGHT THERE*, she could have ended it all right then and there, but nope, the writers pulled the ol' "Dammit I don't have a clear shot!" nonsense.

The Other Side
bobcobb30113 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Another real nothing episode of The Walking Dead. For all of the threats The Saviors make we need to see real repercussions out of them. We saw what Negan did in his first full episode, but he hasn't done that much since then.

It is also difficult to root for anyone on The Hilltop. This group is rivaling the whole barn/farm season for boring and unlikable characters.

Boring.

This episode is really boring, really slow. Expept for pretty good final. Twice, at least, I was about to fall asleep during the watching. This is the worst episode of the whole season, as for me.

I guess there is a 1-star-gang attacking TWD
simon-lutz-9420 March 2017
Like seriously. Season 7s episode aren't bad and they are by far not worse than the episodes from other seasons. People keep voting 1 star and the average rating just drops down and never reaches 8.0 and higher. Please just stop it.

I really enjoyed the episode, especially the parts with Maggie, Enid and the whole Hilltop crew. The character dynamics are amazing. The best part was the intro sequence... wow. The music, the feels, the cinematography... One of my favorite scenes of TWD! Sasha is a strong and great character. Her suicide mission is very risky though. I'm thrilled for episode 15 to find out more about all this crazy stuff that was built up in this week's great episode.

Simon....what a great character.
Scar3827 October 2022
Warning: Spoilers
He is terrifying and Stephen Ogg is such a brilliant actor, he made this episode and many more worth watching, but on the flip side is the character of Morgan who I find so boring and pointless, he never did anything at all, I'm not saying Lennie James is a bad actor because he isn't, it's just this character who the writers have complety wasted. Carol is another character who started off great but became a bore and pointless, all she did was whinge and whine about being alone.

This episode was ok I guess, I really wanted Jarred to get his comeuppance, they guy who played him was excellent aswell .

The episode is notable for its exploration of grief and revenge, as Sasha and Rosita grapple with their own personal demons and motivations for wanting to kill Negan
fernandoschiavi21 March 2024
Rosita and Sasha make their way to the Sanctuary. During the journey they share their experiences concerning Abraham. After seeing Eugene at the compound, they add his rescue to their list of goals, along with assassinating Negan

At the Hilltop, a group of Saviors arrives, wanting Dr. Harlan Carson (as a replacement for his brother Emmett Carson, who was recently executed). Daryl and Maggie hide in a cellar during the visit. Before the Saviors leave, their expedition leader Simon talks to Gregory, who discusses his concerns that "others" might not be as cooperative as he. Understanding that Gregory is hinting that someone (most likely the Survivors) may be getting braver, Simon gives Gregory instructions to meet him at the Sanctuary gates if the problem ever becomes more serious. That evening, emboldened by the notion that he has Saviors protecting him, Gregory subtly threatens Jesus to toe the line.

After nightfall, Rosita and Sasha cut through the fence at the Sanctuary, then kill one of the guards on patrol. They urge Eugene to come with them, but he refuses, saying that he didn't ask for their help. After he heads inside, Sasha works her way inside the fence. Before Rosita can follow, though, Sasha uses a lock to close the opening behind her. She tells Rosita that Alexandria still need her, then runs inside the nearest building. Sobbing in frustration, Rosita flees. She then stops, as she notices a dark figure watching her.

"The Other Side" follows Sasha and Rosita as they embark on a mission to assassinate Negan. The episode is notable for its exploration of grief and revenge, as Sasha and Rosita grapple with their own personal demons and motivations for wanting to kill Negan. The episode also explores themes of friendship and sacrifice, as Sasha and Rosita form a bond and work together to achieve their goal.

One of the most memorable scenes in the episode is when Sasha sacrifices herself to save Rosita, allowing her to continue on with the mission while she stays behind to confront Negan alone. This moment highlights Sasha's bravery and selflessness, as she puts her own life on the line to protect her friend. The tension builds as Sasha infiltrates the Savior compound and confronts Negan, leading to a dramatic and emotional climax that has far-reaching consequences for the survivors.

The episode is also notable for its exploration of the characters' motivations and the lengths they will go to in order to achieve their goals. Sasha's decision to sacrifice herself for Rosita highlights the bond between the two women and the depth of their friendship.

On the other side
TheLittleSongbird7 June 2021
"The Other Side" seems to be a quite divisive episode. Despite being well received critically, though with reservations, it has been a lot more polarising with fans and those that disliked Season 7. Evident here, with a good deal of vehement dislike and strong defense, and how none of the reviews on either side have been popular. Can understand both points of view of love and hate. Personally didn't care for Season 7, though there were exceptions such as "Rock in the Road" and "Bury Me Here".

Really wanted "The Other Side" to be an exception, as the premise did sound interesting (though anybody who dislikes Rosita and sees that she features a lot here will be wary). Sadly to me, it is one of Season 7's worst episodes and the worst since "Service", am aware a lot of people disliked "Swear" but while it was not a particularly good episode to me it wasn't that bad. "The Other Side" is not an awful episode but it did underwhelm me and seems to have lost what 'The Walking Dead' is all about and what makes it so great.

Its main redeeming merits is the performance of Sonequa Martin-Green, a performance every bit as powerful, commanding and moving as that of Lennie James in "Bury Me Here". "The Other Side" is also the only episode where the bonding between Sasha and Rosita was actually investable and where Rosita was halfway tolerable and not as one note and annoying.

Also shining is the scene between Daryl and Maggie, a poignant scene for primarily Norman Reedus' remarkably sincere acting when Daryl apologises. It is a well made episode visually and hauntingly scored.

Unfortunately, "The Other Side" was begging for a trimming in the excessively talk-heavy script, which is every bit as long-winded as Negan's monologing in other episodes and sounds awkward. The episode also drags quite badly, meaning that the already too thin story, that doesn't really go anywhere or progress much of what happened before, was incredibly dull. The story felt like 15 minutes stretched out to just under an hour by overlong padding of not always necessary scenes going on for too long and a lot of talk.

For example it takes forever to get to the pay off, which felt forced rather than emotionally resonant or tense. Most of the characters are not interesting and have too little to do. Absolutely agree with those criticising Sasha's decision, that was far too manufactured, out of the blue and considering her character didn't make sense to me.

Overall, underwhelming. 4/10.

It's a Long Life, and Then it Isn't
ThomasDrufke19 March 2017
I feel like I go back and forth between liking and disliking the structure of the show from week to week. With so many characters, there's really no other way to present the story than focusing on one group/community each week. Luckily, 'The Other Side' was one of the good uses of the focused approach, as it was nice to get back to the Hilltop community after an extended absence.

We learn in the opening few minutes that Sasha, Maggie, and even Enid have been training the Hilltop Colony for a while now. And you guessed it, Gregory has been sitting each and every one of these training sessions out. Of course, that's not the only questionable decision he made in this episode. He didn't make a blatant effort in keeping Doctor Carson at Hilltop, and even suggested to Simon that he should help him take out those who are threatening his leadership position at Hilltop. If this guy doesn't die at the end of this season, I'll be extremely disappointed.

So as Simon and other Saviors surprise Hilltop with a visit, Maggie & Daryl are forced to seek shelter together to avoid being seen. Once again, Daryl broke my heart during his scene with Maggie. His guilt towards Glenn's death was one of the remaining bows untied after the season premiere. I don't recall a ton of scenes between Maggie & Daryl in the past, but I'm not sure how any fan wouldn't be overwhelmed with emotion after they embraced each other. Norman Reedus is killing it of late.

The other pairing this week was Sasha and Rosita. Their insistence that they should take on Negan alone has been painful to watch, but there was a considerable amount of effort put forth to make us care for the two of them on the trip together. At the very least, Rosita was given more to do than pout and make unnecessarily snarky comments to people who are trying to help her. As for Sasha "saving" Rosita by going in by herself? I don't know, it felt weird and a little bit anticlimactic. I can assume that we will get that resolution, and inevitable death, in the season finale.

So it was a slower paced but still emotionally impactful, perhaps just the type of episode you need before two action packed episodes to end the season? One can only hope. The march to war continues.

+Daryl breaking my heart

+Rosita wasn't completely one-note this time

-Sasha's choice

slow and slower
themoment-6420120 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
the producers of TWD know they are coming to an end. that's how this is rolling out. i have never been put through such a long tease for any series. EVER. they just keep stringing viewers along, with the anticipation of the inevitable war.

in my crystal ball, i see viewership drop by 20% after this extended cliffhanger season ends. and if they dare to set up another cliffhanger to drag us to next season, that percent will be more.

i get it. there are characters. there is suspense. but there is also taking advantage of one's audience by dragging out this story-line. preying upon TWD's dedicated and frustrated audience is running out of gas.

Slow but Great.
hiimsam-12320 March 2017
This season of The Walking Dead has undoubtedly been disappointing but the back half had improved the season, slightly. Coming near to the finale this episodes teases what is next to come. The pace of this episode was slow but still enjoyable, I can some may disagree but the performances from Sonequa Martin Green, Christian Serratos and Simon Ogg helped make this episode.

Dang it, forgot more characters!
ericstevenson19 March 2017
I didn't find this to be one of the better episodes, but that's probably only because it once again uses characters that I'm not that familiar with. Well, that doesn't matter because this was still an entertaining episode. I always appreciate the use of people that aren't as well recognized and it was nice to see more peaceful scenes. This episode has surprisingly little action and I will admit it didn't seem to advance the story that much. This episode doesn't really focus on any single character specifically, but is more about various characters.

Daryl appears, albeit briefly. It was weird just reading the latest volume of "The Walking Dead" in a bookstore today and noticing how much the tone has changed since then. Negan is advancing more which is what we wanted to see. It could have used more action with the walkers, but we do get to know some of these people more. At least the Saviors are here, but don't worry. They don't do much. We still get to see some nice scenes and background film in Atlanta, where my folks live. ***

Season 7 Episode 2 onwards...

Boring, slow, predictable, annoying garbage.

I have been a big TWD fan throughout the seasons but im extremely close to throwing the towel in.

Seriously starting to irritate and frustrate me now!

At the moment the only character that i like is Negan...the rest are just pathetic.

Something seriously needs to change or happen in this programme.

Its like i can fast forward through 40 mins of an episode and watch the final part to get any slight glimpse of any form of action or excitement.

Sort it out TWD!

Slower than a snail!
benyaminshakeri-048561 February 2024
After watching the fourteenth episode, I realized that this series really has stupid writers.

I watched a 47-minute episode, and if I really wanted to break it down for you, I'd say I could play it in just 10-12 minutes.

This episode included completely boring sequences and unrelated to the story of the series, so that if you don't watch the first 40 minutes of the series, you won't miss anything, you really won't miss anything!

There are only 3 episodes left until the end of the season and I expected to see the conclusion and speed of the series in these last 3 episodes, but I didn't see anything in this episode.

Now there are only 2 episodes left until the end of the season and I don't know how the makers are going to end the series well.

I really didn't see any significant progress in the storyline of the series during these 14 episodes. If I want to summarize this chapter, it is:

((Rick and his gang are looking to team up with the other gangs so they can get revenge on Negan and it still hasn't quite happened...)) Yes, this is the summary of this season so far!!!

I give this episode a 5.

Talking and a lot of talking

Warning: Spoilers
I rated walking dead series 1 out of 10 now because it is becoming a boring piece of drama. Talk Talk and Talk flash a character or event in the end of the episode and it ends with nothing literally nothing exciting. I would changes it's name from Walking dead to Talking dead.

Warning: Spoilers
This is the worst TWD episode of this season, and maybe even the entire show. In 45 minutes there was maybe 2 minutes of interesting footage. Literally nothing happened. We got no new information. The writing was lazy and unbelievable: Neegan is not that stupid and Maggie isn't that forgiving. The only redeeming thing was the scene were Eugene refuses to come along. All in all, it was really bad.

15 minute episode
ottawa10121 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Saviors show up and take the doctor (5 minutes) Sasha and Rosita set out to Negan (10 minutes)

The remaining was just redundant filler. Gregory was a brown nosed wimp in his first episode, nothing changed. Simon was a jerk in episode 1, nothing changed. Jesus mildly challenges Gregory in their first episode, nothing changed. Eugene used the safety of Abraham and Rosita in his first appearance, now used the safety of Negan. Nothing changed although we all know he will return when needed...nothing changed.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment was Maggie and Darryl 'clearing the air'. EPIC FAILURE on the writers of that scene. Far more emotion should have taken place. His attack on Negan caused Glenn's death and he knew it. The writers could have worked a lot more tension into their meeting but it amounted to a "you good?' reunion like he had just spilled juice on her carpet. TERRIBLE disappointment there. What should have been a pivotal moment in season 7 was written off.

Warning: Spoilers
Yes I know. All my reviews from the last 3-4 episodes have been 1 star and this is no exception. That 10 Minute intro was absolutely ridiculous. At first I thought my speakers had blows because sometimes they play music but no vocal audio. I was going insane.

Like the reviewer above said. This was basically a 15 minute episode. I for one don't care that much about the main characters back-stories, 7 Seasons in we should already know those.

Negan sending Simon to take the DOC - who cares - Maggie trying to smooth things over with Daryl - 14 Episodes from when it happened - A bit late and dragging on - Rosita and Sasha going on a crusade to take out NEGAN - Boring heart to heart and pointless cliffhanger.

The only reason I watch this Season now is because I am hoping NEGAN kills everyone or me, as I feel like I am being Tortured.

One more episode till we find the pulse.
xxxNomadicxxx21 March 2017
Back at it again, slow crawling to the season finale. 35 minutes of strait circle talking. One guy comes out the closet and it blows up mainstream media and scores a 10. It was obvious that Sasha was about to be a martyr, she had the most dialogue with Sophita. Show ends with her doing something stupid and pointless but the viewers don't get to see what's going on. All we get is a shadowy figure holding a cross bow and that's the end. Another action less cliff hanger. It got a 2 from me because of Negan's minions.

Warning: Spoilers
... you just let them watch this episode and they'll die from boredom.

Of all the episodes this is by far the most boring. There have been others in season 7 that were a waste of time - but not to this extent.

If you're wise (I'm not) then don't waste 50 minutes on it.

All that happens is that the Saviors take the doctor from Gregory, and Sasha and Rosita plan a stupid assault on Negan, which only takes them to a nearby building and - well - that's it. So, there you go - I just saved you 50 awful minutes of boredom. You're welcome.

It's the Zombie Apocalypse, not Days Of Our Lives!
Mikelikesnotlikes24 March 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Yet another filler episode.

This material has great production values and all the refinements you'd expect when a huge budget is on offer, and enthusiastic actors are involved. But there's no progression of the story, episode after episode. We're watching stuff you'd expect to find IN BETWEEN ACTION SEQUENCES. Stuff that we don't mind sitting through while catching our breath from the sheer awesomeness of the last big event. But there's been no attempt to appease the audience with just one big bang/shock/laugh per episode. Even when I bank a few up to binge watch, I still feel ripped off.

Why are the directors/producers afraid of turning up the wow factor past 5. Are they so focused on the finale that the lead up is being sourced from leftover material; stuff that should have been halved and left on the cutting room floor?

All these complaints are useless since filming is done. Let's hope other franchises who become insanely popular, take heed. Maybe our disappointment in TWD's unrepentant money grab will be a lesson and warning that fans will not accept seeing something fantastic get the life sucked out of it for dollars.

You spit on us AMC. I hate you.

Warning: Spoilers
Terrible like usual. The first 5 minutes of this episode are just meaningless shots of people at Hilltop. There isn't a single word spoken. After the 5 minute mark, Rosita shows up to recruit Sasha to kill Negan which I'm pretty sure happened in the last episode. Then it cuts to the intro so that means that literally nothing happens for the first 13% of the episode. Then Jesus and Enid try to convince Rosita and Sasha to stay. They decline the offer. Then The Saviors arrive just as Rosita and Sasha leave. They argue about how they will get into The Sanctuary while finding a car. Simon wants the Hilltop doctor to come to The Sanctuary because Negan killed the last one. Meanwhile, Daryl and Maggie hide from The Saviors in a storage room. One Saviors comes down but then he leaves. Daryl then apologizes to Maggie for getting Glenn killed which was the only good part of this episode. The Saviors then leave with the doctor. Rosita and Sasha finally get to a building where they can snipe Negan. They can't get a clear shot so they decide to go in. They make it to a fence where they meet Eugene and tell him they're breaking him out. Eugene stays though and walks off. Sasha gets inside the fence but locks it so Rosita can't get in and it's just her. Episode finished. Oh man. Hopefully they kill Sasha next episode. They surely won't give her a full episode and then kill her in the one after that.
