Half of the land consists of open grounds, mainly grasslands and deserts, which provide little cover, so preys can hide and are hard to sneak up on, yet some predators excel in stealth even there, especially solitary felines like cheetah and caracal, also champions in the lethal sprint viz. jump. Alternatively, tactics are developed, notably by social species like prides of lions, to single out one prey, or bald eagles breaking the impenetrable pattern of huge flocks of geese.
