This show makes a mockery of a serious health problem!
I have Mitochondrial Disease, and I am really offended at this show. I am more like disgusted! It is people like you guys who make up lies about a disease who make folks with Mitochondrial Disease scared to go to the ER and stuff like that. You have made a mockery of our disease, basically conveying it is fake. Eating better will not help. Some of us can't even eat at all or must rely on meds to digest solid foods. What do we do then. Some of us cannot control our bladders and bowels, and some of us are blind or deaf. Are we faking those things also? We live with muscle pain, severe fatigue and neurological symptoms, and no it is not conversion disorder either where all that crap is in your head. If I could just think all my pain away, heck, I would join the best meditation classes in the world even if it meant traveling to India because I hate having to rely on meds for my pain.
This disease is devastating an life-altering, and those of us with it certainly do not want it. Don't you think if eating better or changing my lifestyle would help I would do it already? Heck, I would buy the most expensive organic food money could offer.
Before making a show about a disease, you will want to get your facts straight. There are real lab tests that diagnose this disease, and there are actual protocols for treatment. And guess what, all of this is outlined in medical journals. So get your facts straight and stop trying to make people and doctors who do not know about the disease our enemies.
For information about the disease, such as peer reviewed medical journal articles, go to: Life is hard enough for those of us with Mitochondrial Disease, stop making it worse! This episode seriously needs to be suspended and pulled, never to be shown again. You guys had an opportunity to do good for the Mitochondrial Disease community and instead choose not to do it. Shame on you! I thank God that none of my doctors over the years both in childhood and in adulthood never thought I was making everything up. I thank God they were not that narrow minded and continued to keep looking. I finally got my diagnosis and am on treatment which is definitely a blessing. My treatment has improved my quality of life. And guess what? Real medical tests, like a muscle biopsy, an EMG and bloodwork, gave me my diagnosis!
