So now Dar is gay and takes advantage of young boys?
coreydingus5 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Sooo episode was good and all, and most of what has already been said covers that, but nobody seems to have cared about the lines Dar Adal dropped to Quinn out by the lake near the end...

I mean, did I miss something?! Where did that come from? I get they've been setting Dar up for yet another heel turn, poised to be this season's big bad, but did they really need to go there too? Nothing wrong with being gay, but as someone who's been binge watching this series, I honestly can't think of any other time in the first 5 & a half seasons this was even implied once.

And considering his backstory with finding a Quinn at such a young age, they're going to say that not only does he have an interest in men out of nowhere, but he also has had sexuall relations with Quinn while he was that young?! They didn't mention the specific age of the hook ups, but from their timeline, it sounds borderline illegal...and at the very least, an older man of power taking advantage of a young kid who didn't have much say.

Imminent Risk

Claire Danes acting is still solid, not Emmy-worthy, but enough to carry on what it is not the kind of arc you expect from Homeland. Franny is turning out to be more vital to the season than the terrorists, and that is just not why we watch.

Dar going through yet another heel turn is interesting. Curious to see how this plays out.

Good episode here.

To clear the air about Dar

Warning: Spoilers
The other review that is critical of it appearing Dar being gay and his very probable illicit relationship with Quinn. In the season 5 finale Dar mentions how he and Quinn met and that Quinn likely had a gay relationship as part of some operation. It's also just as likely that Dar portrayed being gay so as to recruit his asset. So the whole gay thing isn't worth a care in the world other than it was mentioned that Peter was 16 at the time in the prior ep so it definitely was illegal, but who thinks the cia doesn't do illegal stuff.

Having said all that, Dar is a contemptible person that I hope gets his at some point.

A lot of Shark Acrobatics Going On

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was kind of all over the place. I found the Child Services thing to be unrealistic. Granted, I've never dealt with anything like CPS, but it seems pretty implausible to take a kid from a home and placing them into foster care before you've even talked to the parent, just because a crime occurred at the house (Carrie & Frannie were victims!). So I was hoping this was a setup from Dar, which it later proved to be, so okay, I'll go with it, but I DO think that Carrie is too smart to not see that this whole thing is possibly related to all of her other trouble. She never once suspects this? She thinks this is normal CPS behavior? Carrie is a spy who's eternally suspicious yet this sails over her head?

Also, when she calls the President-Elect for help, the President-Elect flat-out turns her down. Unrealistic. Carrie has been helping the President-Elect for some time. She's one of her inside people. This is what people do - you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours. At the very least, the President-Elect would be nice to her about it, not cold. This is politics, people! The President-Elect would be political even if she wasn't willing to pull strings. Perhaps this is a setup to make us not like the president, so TBD on this story note.

And then Dar molested Quinn? Or something? Sexual coercion? What was implied on the dock? I'll admit that I took a few years off between seasons 5 and 6, so maybe I don't recall, but has this stuff been alluded to in the past? This felt like it came out of nowhere to me, but this might be an issue with me taking time off from the show, so I'm not docking my overall score on this point. My '6' score has more to do with the how oblivious Carrie was being with the CPS stuff.

Not realistic

Warning: Spoilers
Sorry but No.

Spoilers.

Enjoying this season but domestic side of story with Carries daughter is ridiculous and not believable. No one would be allowed to interview a child alone or without parental knowledge. Let alone remove the child from school before any investigation or court order. Now we have a German intelligence officer taking Quinn out of a secure hospital. All along Carrie seems to have become less than street smart and desperate.Poor episode. Come on guys.

No surprises here Warning: Spoilers
No sympathy for Carrie either, she brought it on herself. Also no surprise that Dar was behind it all. That, and more. Looking more and more like Dar is the turncoat/traitor du jur for this season.

Carrie the character has really lost favor with me, but that's due to poor scripting by the writers. Looks like the show is going back into soap opera mode, or at least flirting with it. Claire Danes the actress continues to impress me with her talent. My low rating is for the writers/scripting. Without Danes in the cast I would rate it even lower.
