I was very impressed by this episode. It's funny because it features flashbacks within flashbacks. The basic plot (is that the first term I've mentioned that with these ponies?) is that Rarity is reading a review of her boutique in the newspaper and her friends don't want her to know that a lot of trouble occurred to get them where they are. We see flashbacks where the ponies talk about what they did to prepare and then we flash back to them doing that. They actually go back to the flashbacks really well. I just love seeing these characters getting literally interviewed. Is that J. Jonah Jameson pony?
It's great to see all the antics these characters get into. Pinkie Pie is at some of her funniest. I especially like the part where she floats in mid air by using her tail as a sweeper! There's another great gag when one of her Pinkie Pie clones has a cameo. I guess one of them survived! There's even a pretty unique variant of Good Angel, Bad Angel with Rarity appropriately enough. The other ponies are really well designed.
I guess the overall designs of a lot of ponies may not be that distinct. This episode showed a lot of different pony variants even with the female ones. They appeared to be more sunken in and had a better frame. I'm reminded of Freddy Krueger with how they use spoon hands at the end (long story). Plaid Stripes is a very funny character. Apart from having a great character design and colors, she's a nice goofy addition to this episode. Perfect ****.
