Great cast but ...

Warning: Spoilers
It has a great cast. Seeing Sam Elliot, Debra Winger, Ashton Kutcher, and Danny Masterson in the same show is really great. Unfortunately, many of the jokes are formula or recycled, and the comedic timing is a little forced. This show is best when they deal with real, non-comedic issues. It is not politically correct. That is a plus for me and many others, but it may may get tiresome in the long run.

Debra Winger is a great actress whose character adds stability to tone of the show. She plays the sensible, grounded one. San Elliot plays a strong, self-reliant rancher with a pretty clear understanding of who he is. However, he hasn't been able to instill this confidence in his sons (Kutcher & Masterson).

You should watch the first 2-3 episodes and make up your own mind about it. It has some great parts and you might like it more than me.

Grow fast on this episode. Must be the rain. The Bennett's are funny.

TURN OFF THE GD LAUGH TRACK

They should have cast someone besides Ashton- but whatever. The laugh track is so IRRITATING we won't stick around to see whether or not the show's potential is realized.

The guy running the laugh track loves this.

Full disclosure....half way through the very first episode. No laughs yet, but it shows promise.

Lots of jokes, they're obviously working to a formula of x laughs/minute. Not hitting that yet.

I'll give it a couple of episodes and see if I catch up to the laugh track guy.

Don't bother

I had high hopes, except for Ashton Kutcher, it's a great cast, and ranch implies "a golden age of television" atmosphere. Unfortunately, so far, The Ranch plays like every other TV sitcom lately. Safe but boring jokes, over a heavy handed laugh track. Don't bother, it would have to improve considerably to be just bad.
