After his attempted assassination of the Queen, Edward Oxford was committed to an asylum, where he was a model patient. He was eventually released and exiled to Melbourne, Australia (ironically a city named after Victoria's close friend Lord Melbourne), where he lived peacefully under the name John Freeman.
Queen Victoria claims to be afraid of dying in childbirth like Princess Charlotte. Princess Charlotte of Wales was the daughter of King George IV and granddaughter of King George III (Victoria's grandfather, as well). She would have been Queen herself had she outlived her father and grandfather. Unfortunately, she died at age 21 while giving birth to a stillborn son, before her father ascended to the throne.
