- A mother's love guides the behavior of Cassie, Stephanie, Mayor Tinsdale, Linda and the yearning Tara. Elsewhere, there's patient Sharon, Abigail, and handsome John.
- Sam reluctantly lets Linda move into his house for Nick's sake, but in the end Nick needs his mother to move out - and move on for all of them. Cassie realizes that Grace is looking for more than a driving instructor in Sam - she sees him as a father figure. Sam continues to be stumped by the persistent Sharon, whom receptionist Eve thinks is more lovesick than sick (and for Sam himself).
- Nick should choose whether his controlling and emotionally needy mom stays or goes after she moves into his father's house. Abigail "borrows" Cassie's help wanted sign, which Cassie says won't solve her problem of filling a large order on time. Stephanie's embarrassment drives Ben away. Sam figures out the true problems of both test-avoiding Grace and a presumably hypochondriac patient. Brandon conveys a solution to Tara's yearning for the patter of little feet. Cassie reassures a widowed novelist. Martha struggles to maintain a blind eye when it comes to her slacker son. An interesting fact surfaces about the John-Anna relationship.—statmanjeff
