Creator and writer of Gilmore Girls and the G.G. Revival, Amy Sherman-Palladino also created and wrote for the show Bunheads. Bunheads also starred the same actors and actresses: Sutton Foster (Violet, the lead actress in Stars Hollow: The Musical!), Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore), Julia Golden Telles (Sandee from Sandee Says), Bailey De Young (Heidi), Rose Abdoo (Gypsy), Liza Weil (Paris Gellar), Brad Ellis (the piano guy), Sean Gunn (Kirk) and Alex Borstein (from the Gilmore Girls pilot, originally supposed to play Sookie, but played Drella the "Great" Harp Player instead). If this is your first experience with Gilmore Girls, then you'll probably like this show. It's got an amazing cast, and characters you'll fall in love with before the end of the first scene. It's funny, charming, and highly addictive.
If you're a casual fan of the show then you'll love "A Year in the Life". You get to spend a few more hours in Stars Hollow, catch up with the characters you've been wondering about since the series ended, and have one more laugh/cry with a show you like. There's nothing at all wrong with that.
If you're a hardcore fan of Gilmore Girls then you're almost certainly going to hate this. But let's be honest, nothing was ever going to measure up to what we'd have wanted for these characters. This was never going to be the show we wanted it to be. So let's just enjoy this for what it is, some new Gilmore Girls content. Go into this expecting nothing more than that and you won't be disappointed.
