Welcome to a new column for Nerdly. I used to do regular WWE reviews here and I’m back to do more once again. I will be reviewing the week of WWE television in one review each week. Raw, Smackdown and Nxt. I’ll also review other WWE content including PPV’s.
This week in WWE began with Monday Night Raw on, well… Monday (11th April).
Results: Cesaro defeated Kevin Owens (Cesaro is now number one contender for the I-c title). Tag Tournament 1st Round: The Dudleys beat The Lucha Dragons WWE Womens Title: Natalya beat Charlotte by Dq (Charlotte retains) Tag Tournament 1st Round: The Usos beat Social Outcasts Aj Styles defeated Sami Zayn (Aj is now the sole number one contender for WWE Title) Apollo Crews beat Adam Rose Bray Wyatt & Roman Reigns defeated Alberto Del Rio & Sheamus
This was one of the best Raw’s of 2016 so far.

Nxt TakeOver: Dallas is in the books, and the most anticipated show in the history of the brand lived up to all of the hype. Not only did Shinsuke Nakamura debut in a classic bout, but three great title matches highlighted a night of action that furthered Nxt’s reputation as wonderfully anti-wwe.
At TakeOver: Dallas, wrestling was king, and all of the extras that fill up a typical WWE show (even WrestleMania) were absent and not missed.
I’m in Dallas for WrestleMania weekend, and believe me when I say TakeOver was the hottest ticket in town – it was really difficult to find seats for the event, and the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center was packed. Still, the venue was tailor-made for a wrestling show – it felt like every seat in the house had a great view of the ring. I was sitting above the entrance, blocking my view...

As WWE continues to recruit the top wrestling talent in the world to freshen up the ranks of both their main roster and Nxt, yet another star looks set to join the company, assuming he hasn’t already signed.
During the action-packed Nxt: TakeOver Dallas show, the cameras focused in on Japanese superstar Kota Ibushi seated in the crowd, a recent free agent after successful runs in Ddt and New Japan Pro Wrestling.
Ibushi resigned in February after recovering from a cervical disc herniation, stating that he felt he could no longer maintain the strenuous schedule he was working while performing for both companies simultaneously.
His departure was a difficult blow for New Japan following the losses of top stars Aj Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura, and many expected “Golden Star” to be in line for a major push.
WWE has even acknowledged his presence on their website which...

Just 13 days after Tna announced Bobby Roode would be leaving the company after 12 years of service, the two-time Tna World Heavyweight Champion and eight-time World Tag Team Champion was sighted at Nxt TakeOver: Dallas.
Highlighted by WWE’s camera crew and social media team during the live event, Roode looks destined to become the latest Tna stalwart to have found a new home in WWE over the past year.

Along with Samoa Joe, Aj Styles and Austin Aries in the past year; Beer Money Inc. teammate James Storm also had a brief stint in Nxt before returning to Tna in early 2016. Even so, it’s more than likely that Roode will pursue a singles career in Nxt after Storm’s signing with the troubled Impact! brand.

Nxt TakeOver: Dallas marks the official start to WWE’s WrestleMania weekend and it was incredible. In what might go down as one of the best wrestling shows of all time, at least four of the five matches that aired during the broadcast could be rated at at least 4 stars. Even better, the Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Sami Zayn is already being heralded as a 5 star classic.
With so much quality wrestling on a single card, there were more than enough exciting spots to go around.
This special edition of the Most Insane Wrestling Spots will focus solely on this Nxt show from Dallas, beginning with a seemingly insignificant accidental head bump from the main event…

With only two days to go until Nxt TakeOver: Dallas, the brand pulled out all of the stops when it came to promoting what may be its most highly-anticipated show ever. And while the in-ring action was mostly confined to squash matches (there’s probably not a fan who saw the show and couldn’t predict the winner of every single bout), it’s okay – TV is supposed to serve the paid product. That’s a lesson WWE’s main roster’s creative team would do well to learn.
There are six huge matches scheduled for TakeOver: Dallas – Nxt Champion Finn Balor versus Samoa Joe, Shinsuke Nakamura versus Sami Zayn, Nxt Women’s Champion Bayley versus Asuka, Nxt Tag Team Champions The Revival versus American Alpha, Apollo Crews versus Elias Samson, and Baron Corbin versus Austin Aries. In the course of a 55-minute show, Nxt managed to hype each bout on the special.

With Nxt TakeOver: Dallas only nine days away, the focus on this week’s episode of the brand’s TV show was the women’s division. In the main event, number one contender to the Women’s Championship Asuka took on Emma in a hard-fought battle, and while champion Bayley was nowhere to be found, she and Asuka were still drawn inexorably closer to one another, and to Dallas.
Nxt Champion Finn Balor was in action, as well, and while his nemesis Samoa Joe didn’t compete in an official match, he showed off his dominance and sent a message to the man he’ll face on April 1. The seeds for one final TakeOver bout were sown, as well, when Apollo Crews and “The Drifter” Elias Samson came face to face early in the show. Finally, both members of the former Dragon Gate USA tandem Ronin were in action...

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that former Nxt Champion Sami Zayn is currently scheduled for a match at WrestleMania. With that in mind, he’s expected to start appearing on WWE television shortly.
No match was announced, but given Zayn’s lingering bad blood with Kevin Owens after an unresolved Nxt feud between the two, it’s likely that he’ll compete in a bout with the prizefighter. The Observer is reporting that a multiple man contest is scheduled for the show and could very well involve the Intercontinental Title, a slot which the exciting Zayn would undoubtedly fit into well. On the other hand, the newsletter also made mention of one more singles match expected to be made over the next two weeks. If Owens loses the Intercontinental Title before WrestleMania, he could take on Zayn in the one-on-one contest.
Zayn has appeared on WWE television twice before.
