A wonderful ending

Not sure what the other reviewers watched...they didn't even get the facts right. This was the perfect episode to honor all of the characters and give them the lives they wanted and deserved. People don't stay exactly the same...neither should these roles.

One Big Fat Slap
Johnny_West25 September 2021
I had hoped the series would end with everyone walking up to nosy busybody Angela and slapping her fat face and telling her they were moving out of Boston to get away from her.

Having seen the entire series, I can honestly say that this show would have been 100 times better if Lorraine Bracco had been in the cast as an occasional recurring character. She has the most annoying and obnoxious tone. She always seems to be talking down to, or guilting everyone. If she had only been in this show now and then, she could have reminded everyone of how annoying "Ma" was whenever she made a guest appearance, and the other shows without her would have been a lot better. Sad that she lasted the entire series.

Not how it started!

Warning: Spoilers
I was disappointed with the ending. A strong woman and a good detective like Jane leaves her family and the job she couldn't live without to teach upcoming federal agents. Another strong woman Maura who absolutely loves what she does and has been working for a reason is more interested in writing novels. The ending completely negates what the characters stood for. The ending in which Jane leaves the job at FBI and continued being a homicide detective with Maura, Frankie and Holiday and meeting Korsack at The Dirty Robber post his retirement would have made more sense.

Lousy, disapponting episode.

Warning: Spoilers
This is all IMO. To me this was a disappointing episode. First Jane leaves Boston? Seriously? Then her and Maura would be apart? I don't think so. Jane joins the FBI? I don't think so. Why didn't she marry Casey or hook up with Gabriel Dean? Also Angela breaks up with her boyfriend? Why? The only tidy point is when Korsak retires early and gets married. Disappointing finale.

Sappy shallow end to what started as a smart savvy show
b-logical6 September 2016
R&I started as a smart savvy detective story. First they degraded the supposedly intelligent ME into a shallow ridiculous fashion-shoe collecting bimbo; then this last year the whole show skipped what made it interesting and turned it into a soap-opera. Too bad -- obviously changed the people in charge. This last show was the WORST. I continued to try to watch, since I had been watching for years, but it became painful. This show had no intelligence or substance - just sappy; shallow; nothingness. Too bad.

I've seen this happen with other shows. Maybe the good writers get bored and move on? Maybe they just run out of ideas? Maybe they back-fill with people who think Hollywood priorities match those in the real world? But intelligent professional women who have worked hard for multiple degrees don't dress in stiletto heels & fancy clothes to crime scenes. The show became too ridiculous to continue.

Lame finale
rambleredhead21 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I love this show and there have been some very good episodes and some horrible ones and this episode falls in the later. The case was dumb and it seems like they had no idea this was going to be the end and just fast forwarded the story so everyone had a happy ending. Especially with the change with Jane she hates things changing but then is the one making the big move to DC. It was bad writing and with Frank as well - lame. This is a truly horrible way to end a series that has been on for seven seasons. A big middle finger to the fans of the show. The writers and director involved with this should be ashamed of themselves.
