Warning: Spoilers
Back when I was a kid during the Super Nintendo era. I played The Addams Family and the spin off title Pugsley's Scavenger Hunt. I have mixed feelings about this game that I've won with that said let me tell you what it's about.

You play as Pugsley in this game, his sister Wednesday sends Pugsley on a scavenger hunt for 6 items, you have to explore 6 hard platform levels, defeat 6 hard bosses. You also have to get dollar signs, 25 for an extra heart, 100 for an extra life, or find 1 ups or get 50,000 score points for 1 up.

You have to dodge enemies ranging, from mice throwing cheese, rockets launching at the player, dodging spikes, spiked enemies, spiked chain ball, guillotine, rubber ducks, mallards, cats underwater, explosions, pits, fireballs, penguins, geese, snowballs, slippery floors, alligators, knights.

You have to explore 6 levels in this game, the attic, the basement, the crystal ball, the bathroom, the laboratory and the icebox levels.

What I liked about this Addams Family game

  • I liked that you can start with 3 hearts and 7 lives because you'll need it in this game.
  • I liked that you can spam 1 ups in the underwater section of the bathroom stage by jumping on the fish the cats barf up netting 1600 points and every 32 fish you jump on gets you a 1 up and believe me you'll need them in this intense game including the infamous icebox level.
  • I liked the characters you get to meet including Thing a walking hand, Lurch, Uncle Fester, Wednesday his sister, Grandmama, Cousin Itt, Morticia his mom, and Gomez his dad, Norman his wife and kid and they have funny sentences.
  • I enjoyed the colorful background and character visuals in this game and the detail in this game, it reminds me of a Saturday morning cartoon TV show which this video game is based off of from Hanna-Barbara.
  • I liked the music in this game though it uses recycled music one theme in 3 stages, another theme in 2 stages. The third theme music is used in the Bathroom and end Credits. It also plays the main theme song.

What I hated about this Addams Family game

  • Oh man where to begin, first of all I hate limited lives and limited continues, they ruin the video game experience and you have to worry about getting a game over. You have grind for extra lives in order to survive in this game making playing this game a hell to go through. I wished this snes game had a save state option but it didn't exist back then.
  • I didn't like how hard it was to control Pugsley especially with the timed jumps that make it a pain in the butt to push on the controller button.
  • I didn't like the traps including the rockets, the spikes coming at you the explosions to avoid, the pits and the icy level which makes Pugsley even more slippery than ever.
  • All 6 levels are hard as hell to play through. The levels that were the hardest to play through are the Attic, the Basement, the Crystal ball and the infamous icebox level which is the worst of them all. Also if you complete a level you cannot go back to that level. There's no save files or passwords so good luck winning the game in one sitting.
  • I hated hitting the question blocks in a certain order because if you hit the wrong block you start over. Some question marks can cause walls to prevent the player from getting the dollar signs or 1 ups.
  • There's a glitch in the game that can cause your game to reset if you view your menu in the underwater level.
  • You can accidentally get Pugsley stuck in a trap in the Basement room that will cause the game to be unwinnable resulting the player to reset the entire game.
  • The boss fights are hard to beat as the move around so much, including the dragon, the octopus, the spider, the mouse, the washing machine and the magician which require Pugsley to jump so many times just to defeat the boss.

I'm surprised about the blood splatter effect in the game every time Pugsley jumps on an enemy and the red blood in the bathtubs and the toilet bowls shown. It must've slipped past the Nintendo censorship back in the day before the ESRB rating was established.

Overall this snes game could've been a better experience, while I did like the music and art style in this game. I think this game could've been better, there should've been more than 3 heart points, unlimited lives and unlimited continues and even save states and the game would've been much easier to play. There's only one ending in this game.
