kinda rushed but satisfying ending
matejbuljan31 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
My honest opinion is that they should've made this season a bit longer so it would be more enjoyable, it just feels so rushed at times,I don't mean 20+ episodes, that would have been way too stretched. I think 13 to 15 episodes is enough.

The writing in season 5 is still good(with a bit of flaws but every show has it so its alright), directing and acting is also good as usual.

but after nearly a decade of the show being "over" you would expect those 9 episodes to be perfected to the last second. I'm gonna binge watch it soon to see if I missed something

I would love to see more of their back stories, from each character, more scenes about prison tension, getting to know the characters, more talking about their past, more mysteries and stuff like that. when Whip got shot I mean it wasn't believable or anything, it was weird and silly, I was like .. ...what the hell ... .. .. [20 seconds later] should I feel sorry for him?? or T-Bag for losing his son after only knowing him for 2 days, or what??? should I be "oh man why he died... such a shame..." I gotta admit it was kinda laughable, that whole situation..., T-bag coming out unarmed like "oh no, stop, don't shoot", .he was a decent guy but had no time to get interested in him. although Sid's death was tragic, he was a young dude on the run, about to flee the country, live free and then he got killed

that is I guess the only main issue I have with this final season, it feels so rushed but we still have like one or two filler episodes when they were on the run from prison, episode 5 had nice ending, the prison break style i loved it but that entire episode could've been put into 10 minutes or less loll(if you re-watch it you will see)

if this season were 15 episodes long it would'be been more than great, I love that most of the cast got back together to shoot this final season and I appreciate them giving us more Prison Break material.

A descent and satisfying ending to a great show.
ng-8242316 August 2022
Even though there was a bit lag in the mid season the writers were able to come up with a satisfying ending to the show. The finale had a dramatic touch till the half but gifted us a last amazing 20 min showing once again how much of a master brain Michael Scofield is. Everyone nicely played their part. The finale was also able to give us all the answers to our questions we had from the beginning of the season. Michael's plan to bring down the Poseidon was mind blowing. T-bag was awesome as always but got less screen time. I was kinda not happy with how t-bags story line got ended. The episode name (behind the eyes) clearly justifys the episode. The very last scene should have been different. That's it. Thanks for reading.

Great ending, which should have been 8 years ago

Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this season, especially considering that I binged watch the whole season in 1 day. I mean, that was a blast. Made so may good memories "resurrect", as the name of the series suggest.

Although I never found the acting to be perfect, I always loved T- Bag. The level of tension he brought to the original show was such breath taking that no so many villains managed to provide, not original, but an excellent psychopath. Yet they decided to make him a different person in the sequel. But this person was not T-bag by story, just a shadow of him. This was a good person, seeking justice and solace, and forgiveness, which are so unlike him. I can't believe they didn't give him a more demanding job. And the ending for him was justified weakly. Of course he killed an agent, but she was corrupted (as it was proved) and it was sort of self defense. They made the whole scene with him killing the agent just to make an excuse to put him back in prison for the culminating scene at the end.

In addition, I can't believe they did not bring back Alex Mahone. I mean, he was the super smart brain in season 2, they could have give him at least something more than Sucre.

On the other hand, when this season finished, I realized that not a lot of things are different from what they were back in 4x24. Everyone's free, T-Bag is still in prison, the law is good with everyone. The only difference is that this time, Micheal is alive and well, with his family. This makes you wonder, why couldn't they do this back then? Obviously they killed him before to make things more dramatic and heroic. Like he is a hero that should not be abounded by normal life. So why they decided to do it this time? We are definitely not going to watch him and his family live a normal life and happily ever after. Why bother all this?

A fitting end!(minor spoilers)
Shmaden30 May 2017
Warning: Spoilers
After the last episode's cliffhanger I was waiting for a good finale that would finally tie up all the important loose ends and that is what I got.

Honestly, I would say this episode is not as good as the previous and definitely is not one of the best episodes of Prison Break, but what it is... is the finale that Prison Break should have had a long time ago. Take for example Breaking Bad a series in which the character that turns evil dies at the end. Fitting right? For a guy who committed so many crimes to finally pay after getting a somewhat redemption. Well as fitting as it is for that show, that's how much unfitting(couldn't find any other word) was for this show to kill the character at the end. Many questions were raised like: How Michael's tumor came back? Why he would willingly kill himself because his tumor came back?(I mean he could have lived for years) yet his mum who had a similar condition lived after surgery... well this episode is what that ending should have been. I'm not saying it's the perfect finale but it does have some awesome Prison Break moments like: "Truth is whatever you tell people it is" or a moment at a warehouse in which I for one couldn't keep up with the mind games and who was doing what was supposed to anymore. And above all we have some of the best Michael moments put in Prison Break that reminded me of why I liked this show so much. There are twists and revelations and moments that will surprise you just as long as you don't expect this to be the "Greatest Finale Ever" but just the finale that we deserved 7 years ago.

In conclusion I'll say this once more: This episode is a fitting end to this show and one that tied up very nicely all the loose ends that were raised during this season and during the final episode of season 4. Seeing this rated with 8,7(at this moment) on IMDb is a little disrespectful and I guess it's only because we were expecting some of it and the episode wasn't as artistic as the previous one. But in the end all good things and bad things must come to the end!

I can't believe they don't use T-Bag more. . The best actor in the entire show.
bola_de_pu26 June 2017
I don't get it, really don't. They bring back one of the most awarded and acclaimed shows in the history and they do a bad job bringing it back. I mean, I give them 10 stars to these season because of the "nostalgia" that make me feel the old days of Prison Break. Nothing else. Too much rush, the script is not good and Mr. Kellerman and Theodore Bagwell don't have enough scenes. I mean, REALLY. How is possible that these guys can't find a way to introduce more in these nine episodes to Bagwell, who is possibly the best performer of the show. Let's not mention the fact they don't include Alexander Mahon too. Not even a scene. WOW. I'm disappointed and I hope they can do a better job with the scripts if they decide bring another season.

Ignore the naysayers

Warning: Spoilers
I've been waiting ages to read the reviews on here but stayed away for any potential spoilers. I've got to say, I'm genuinely shocked to see so much negativity around this season. Personally, I thought it was great. Loved every second. Was it too over the top sometimes? "F..." yeah! Would I have it any other way? Hell no!

And to that grade-a idiot who mentioned that there was 5 seconds of reused material in the last episode from the very first episode, just take a step back and think. Seriously, just THINK. I've never h are such a ridiculous statement in my life!

The end
Hell, I would give 3 stars for the many logical errors of this final episode and - why not? - of this entire series. This episode looks like a melodrama. But, hey, Michael and Sara got the end they deserved from years ago. I cannot say the same for T-Bag, but, well, he is in familiar background again: Fox River prison :)

Cheapskate
coolgit8 June 2017
Look at the final episode, time around 41:46 to 41:50 and you see the inside of Fox prison. A black guy shadow boxing, a white guy passing a cig from one cell to a black guy in another cell. This scene was taken from season 1, episode 1, 6:27 to 6:32.

That's what i call cheapskate. Could have done with new characters eh.

lets face it that series is too bad in many different whys. first the story is awful and there is no logic on it they look like they run out of any fresh ideas . we all fell bad when they announce there will be only 9 episode but in fact that is too long for this show its can be done in 5 episode max.there was an episode that all they do run in desert and do so stupid action they left man alone in desert what is that really . actors they are too bad i am not related to any one of them and the Arabian actors the cant even talk Arabic Well and the CGI work in Yemen was too bad one of my biggest issue with this series the amount of Coincidence all they need it will happen so easy . the final was not too great or too bad but i think the whole series is too far from the original prison break

Action - yes, logic and explanation - No!
andreasgelever22 July 2017
The show's sequel could have been much better! I liked action, suspense, actors' play and the whole idea, but its implementation feels way too weak even lame. Too many small and big flaws in the plot, illogical steps the characters undertake (in prison, in desert, on ship, everywhere...- why bomb the whole ship in favor of sending hit men after Sara coming to Michael in Greece?), there are many other - over- twisted actions without a real need, and I didn't understand final episode denouement((. Feels like filmmakers' main aim was to make fast buck and make it as quick as possible without putting the back into the plot's details. They at least could have explained Michael's miraculous healing, couldn't they?

So-so
Abdulxoxo24 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
A somewhat indifferent finale that's awfully similar to the ending of Season 4. The new "freedom" the team archeived felt unearned and underwhelming. The season overall starts to struggle when Michael and co leave Yemen. Most of the dramatic tension is gone and we are left with some half-baked family drama. The first four episodes are good as they have much in common with S1 and S3 in terms of tone and plot but as the season progresses, it starts to move to the conspiracy territory and becomes similar to s4. Poseidon is an okay villain, who talks much and do less. The central conflict which involves him trying to take over Michael's family is a bit corny and automatically renders the story predictable. Although, I did like how he and Michael trying to outsmart one another. There's one scene in the finale in which Michael frames him in the same manner he did to him, it was really good. And although T-bag didn't have much to do, I liked the subplot involving Whip being his son.

On the whole, I liked the first half of the season more than the second half. The overall story lacks novelty, it just feels like the reset of S4 with this ending the same way as it but with Michael alive. Some side characters were also wasted. But overall, I had a good time, and while it isn't a top-notch season, it's still a good addition to the show.

Great show...left a little incomplete for me
shombeje-778763 August 2023
Warning: Spoilers
One of my favorite shows of all time...but the ending fell a little flat for me. I mean...he fought to get back to his wife and kid and one of the last scenes with Little Mike, other than the end, is him calling Jacob dad. Then at the very end we don't even get to see Michael interact with his son or even him calling him dad. Just Michael sitting at a distance from both Sarah and their son. Even Linc went and joined his new lady. Left me wanting more for one of my favorite characters of all time. Would have been nice to see him get everything he fought for actually happen in the episode instead of leaving it to imagination. Not even a glance back or smile from either. WTH.

this whole season is completely garbage. The writing, the acting, the plot, the special effects, oh my god where do I begin... This last episode was laughable, corny, poorly acted (as usual), a complete mess. the whole season from episode one till the last episode made me think of a cheesy b bollywood movie all the way through. Nobody will miss it.

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie!!
arvindmohindra31 May 2017
Why would one not let the sleeping dogs lie. Season 5 was the worst of the lot. Got sucked into watching this purely out of nostalgia. Wish i had not. Want my 6 hours odd of life back!!! Terrible. 24 reboot was bad but this one takes the cake. Wooden expressions, no emotion as if actors are being forced to earn their paychecks and on top of it an absurd plot with more holes that possible. Season 1 was the only season and they should have stopped after that.

Please, don't make second season!
elfelf6662 June 2017
I'm completely disappointed. Not well-played scenes. Bad scenario. Bad directing. Overturned plot. This was really bad, Original Prison Break (season 1 and 2) is one of the best TV series.

No sense of next season. Just stop here. I had great hopes for the new season, but it turned out to be a complete breakthrough.

Extremely disappointing series 5
Jim-Eadon7 November 2017
Season 5 The good: Michael, Linc and T-bag are by far the most watchable characters of this show. Scenes without them fell flat.

The bad: All the other characters. Sarah has absolutely no charisma. The lead villain was uninteresting and unconvincing. I didn't care about his fate at all. Ho hum. His assassins came over as hopeless amateurs.

The Ugly: The Middle East / ISIS / Islamic setting was depressing and yet dull, and incompatible with the generic fun feel of the show. There was no suspense, no real sense of danger and no fun. The show cheated too much. The cells allowed prisoners to access overhead vents. The solitary cells were conveniently only locked by bolts. Etc. After that there were way too many plot loopholes and other implausible coincidences and miracles, such as bullets missing, people healing, and so on. So the entire escapade became meaningless. As mentioned, only there characters were fun to watch. The rest were uniformally awful. The first 3 episodes of the season were reasonably entertaining though. PB is weak once the characters are out of jail, and I was surprised that Season 5 script writers did not understand this. Season 1 was fantastic and Season 3 was fun. Season 2 was so and so and seasons 4 and especially 5 were horrible.

Terrible Conclusion
varnium29 September 2018
The original 4-series was an astounding achievement! But this season 5 is so much worst. The directing & camera angle is more intense but the storyline is just plain stupid and not worthy to be a successor. It's only 10 episodes. The ultimate goal of the entire season is not intriguing, the antagonist has bad acting, and does not involve a grand scale conspiracy like the original 4 seasons.

If you want to proceed to Season 6, make sure the story writer create a spectacular grand conspiracy involving nation leaders around the globe. Otherwise, say GOODBYE to Prison Break series.

This was so bad, it made me cry what have they done with the Prison Break, Its like a 5 year old has written this. Original Prison Break (season 1 and 2) is one of the best TV series of all time but after the season 2 it has cone worser and worser with every season, the 4 & 5 are almost identically terrible.
