- Dreamily romantic Hilary sings a pure melody as she awaits her boyfriend to come fetch her on a rainy night.
- "Let's go back, back to the beginning, back to when the Earth, the sun, the stars all aligned..." as she looks out the patio doors of Mom and Dad's house at the pouring rain coming down in bucketloads. Hilary, a mere seventeen years old, and looking even younger, like really, really under-aged, is home alone on a rainy night, preparing herself for a date, talking with him on her cellphone as she sits on her bed. Comfy white pants and a pink T-shirt. There is a decorative star against the wall of the blonde princess's bedroom. Precious! As the storm rages outside, she emerges from sitting on the rim of the bath in a white terry-cloth robe, "let the rain fall down and wake my dreams, let it wash away my sanity..." padding barefoot to the mirror, where she wipes away the steamy moisture to study her reflection, "'cause I wanna feel the thunder upon my skin..." We see her boyfriend climbing into his car to come over to keep her company. "Let the rain fall down, I'm coming clean...
"I'm shedding, shedding every color, trying to find a pigment of truth beneath my skin..." She now wears denim pants and a black top. A leaky roof, a saucepan to catch the droplets. Friends arrive, band members, they watch a video. A performance of hers. The friends disappear (?) and she retreats back to the patio-doored sun room where she lights an array of candles all over the place, on the floor, tables and chairs. Lying down in the soft hazy glow. Her boyfriend's car stops outside. The rain is really coming down in a tropical deluge now. Guy climbs out, heading up the winding driveway, as she rushes out to meet him. She comes down the driveway. They get thoroughly wet, hair clinging. They embrace and look into each other's eyes. (One would expect a kiss, but then, Hilary's still a child, and this is only make-believe...)
"Let the rain fall, let the rain fall, let the rain fall, I'm coming clean..."
{author's note: there are musings mentioned on Wikipedia that the filming of the man is meant to be ambiguous: is he a lover, friend, or enemy? Is he coming towards her for romantic reasons, or to confront her? Are they gonna hug, kiss or hit each other? Author's sees no reason to wonder, because they clearly hug, after having approached in a typically romantic fashion. Admittedly there aren't any lyrics in this finding-inner-peace song that makes it a love song, it is the music video that creates this notion}
