- The first preliminary polls of the presidency are released. Molly continues to cope with the loss of Emma. Situations arise for Sammy as well as Laila. Barry and Dalia's conversations begin to complicate.
- Barry's tough policies put Daliyah in grave danger. Al-Qadi enacts a risky plan to broach peace. Fauzi puts his feelings on the line, leaving Daliyah conflicted. As the elections reel out of control, Barry cracks down on the political process. Leila's relationship with Cogswell creates a wedge between her and her sister.
- The Caliphate has been able to mount an effective online campaign demonizing Barry and calling for action against him and his government. Beyond the broader task of neutralizing the message and planning how to dismantle the Caliphate more decisively, Barry decides to enact a measure to deal with a symptom of the campaign to protect the Abuddin populace: ban unsanctioned public prayer places, which have been targets for individuals radicalized by the Caliphate. This decision provides fodder for some of Barry's political opponents. In light of what looked to be Molly's suicide attempt, there is an around-the-clock watch on her. She comes to a decision if she truly wants to live or die. Sammy receives some harsh but friendly advice about his own actions. With regard to the upcoming election, the candidates react to the first opinion poll released. Leila feels that Daliyah is working against her in summoning her to appear before the Truth & Dignity Commission. Lelia receives further advice about what her longer term political plans should be, that advice which includes what she should do about her professional and personal relationship with Cogswell. And Ahmed, upon news of his true parentage, wants to be more involved in Sammy and Barry's lives in all its aspects.—Huggo
