The film refers to Harvey Milk as the first openly Gay person elected to public office in the U.S. He was not; Minnesota state legislator Allan Spear first won election in 1972, five years before Milk, and was re-elected in 1974 after he came out.
The film includes Gay characters referring to the people with whom they're in long-term relationships as "my partner." The common term in the late 1970's and early 1980's would have been "my lover."
