El Beso (The Kiss) is the debut as an actress of Lourdes Hernández, best known as the singer-songwriter Russian Red. She was living in Los Ángeles, but she returned to Madrid, where she was born, to shoot El Beso (The Kiss).
The short film is a tribute to Auguste Rodin's universally renowned sculpture.
Coco's part was going to be played by Lourdes Hernández real dog, named Chula. The part ended up being played by a trained dog named Uma. Though Coco is a "male" character, both dogs are female.
The Kiss was originally going to be shot at the underground, before moving the story to a two-floor touristic bus.
Paolo's house is actually the house of the director's grandfather, with its original configuration and furniture.
