Spoilers

The trivia items below may give away important plot points.

In Part 3, Brook Payne makes a comment that all of the members' second albums (their side projects outside of New Edition) " flopped." This is not necessarily so in the case of Bobby Brown. Brown's second album was "Don't Be Cruel," his magnum opus that sold ten million copies and made him a bonafied superstar. His first album "King of Stage," was a modest hit and gave Brown a #1 R&B hit with the single "Girlfriend." The King of Stage era was never portrayed in the miniseries, so people who are in familiar with the group's history might incorrectly assume that "Don't Be Cruel" was Brown's first album. Incidentally, Brown's third album "Bobby" sold three million copies.

In Part three, In the scene where after the last concert of the tour, the group piles in the bus and the soon to be R&B group 'Boys II Men' stops Michael Bivins (portrayed by Bryshere Y. Gray) to sing for him, Mikes jacket incorrectly reads 'Mike Divins'.

1) Monica Calhoun who portrayed Ralph's mother was in Best Man Holiday and in that film Morris,Taye,Harold and Terrence performed Can You Stand The Rain. Can You Stand The Rain is a song by New Edition. 2) Since Terrence performed that song in BMH,he also portrays Lucious in Empire and father to Bryshere's(aka Mike Bivins,New Edition member) character.
