The Starry Night, the Starry Sea is my favourite Chinese drama. The cast is great, the acting is superb, the visuals are stunning, and the soundtrack is beautiful. The first season, set in modern times, is light-hearted and full of humour, adorable and silly all at the same time. The second season is actually a prequel, set in ancient times. It is dark by comparison, with more tension, passion and violence. It also includes the best choreographed fight scene I have ever seen. At the end, you will want to go back to the beginning. You will wish with all your heart for the third season. You will never again look at the ocean and see only water.
