Ignore the Trolls...
miltm1327 July 2018
Pay no attention to the Siskel & Ebert mini-me wannabes that have written extremely negative reviews of this show. These are people who think they the smartest person in the room, but have their heads shoved so far up their backsides that their two operating brain cells do reign supreme in that dank environment.

This is a very entertaining and light-hearted show. If you want an angst ridden, depressing crime show, Criminal Minds is still around. But this is a show created by the same team that brought us Castle, and it shows. It's not as polished yet, but Castle was a little shaky in its early days, also.

Rachel Bilson shines with her bubbly comic personality, as usual. Eddie Cibrian is new to me, but their chemistry works well together. The stories are good, but could be better. About standard fare for a summer replacement.

I'm hoping this show gets renewed, but I'm not too hopeful. Channing Dungey, the President of ABC is one of the stupidest executives in any business in the history of the world. She has cancelled so many promising shows, and proves she doesn't know what she's doing.

A Pleasant Procedural With Comedic Chemistry
atlasmb10 July 2018
Rachel Bilson plays Sam Swift-an actress whose career is on the skids, but who has gone through rehab to sobriety.

Eddie Cibrian ("LeAnn & Eddie") plays Eddie Valetik-a P.I. who used to be a cop until he was burned in a police corruption case. He was the good guy.

Like many series before it, "Take Two" combines two disparate individuals-one a crime investigator, one something else-and uses the odd couple dynamic to produce comedy and crime solving. And like these other shows, "Take Two" relies heavily on the chemistry between its two main characters for entertainment.

Fortunately, the Bilson-Cibrian connection works well on screen. She is a perky-to-the-point-of-distraction enthusiast and he is a dispassionate veteran with a Ted Danson-like demeanor-the straight man to her comedic talents.

The cast expands to include some welcome additions, including sidekicks for each of the stars. All are interesting characters.

Update 10/1/18: I am upgrading to an "8" due to great episode casting and my overall enjoyment of this series.

Just give the show a couple episodes to get rolling. It is worth it.

Why so much negativity????
rjohnsonxbox9 July 2018
People, people, why so negative? This isn't a serious show. The premise alone, the idea that an actress gives up Hollywood for private investigation work is preposterous haha. That said the show works. Sure it's follows a similar script as any other cop show, but the two leads, and I'm sorry I can't remember her name or his, but they both excell. They're funny. They have chemistry. It's not 24; walking dead; or ER. But that's ok. I say give it a chance people.

I will stop watching ABC due to their high cancellation ratings
ssybelleart12 January 2019
Another ABC senseless decision as it only proves the channel doesn't respect their viewers by not finishing a storyline, or the te they invested in front of TV for their show. It is not up to you after a show is aired but to the Audience at the least. If you have a business this is because of the audience like us.

Besides, that the summer ratings will never be as good as the winter's might have been obvious to ABC decision makers.

Such a feel good show. Funny, mysterious, great chemistry, Bilson is very humorous to Eddy"s dry shtick. Love it can wait for season 2. Please come again!

Light comedy, perfect for relaxing
happyart-9648713 August 2018
Exactly what I need at times: light comedy with good charachters that have chemistry. The stories are intriguing. Who care if they could be real or not? This is TV! Looking forward to more.

Fun cop drama
cassiebotner27 July 2018
I haven't read the other reviews, but I think this show is great. It's funny, has a touch of will they/won't they, and lays out a good mystery per show. It's not serious or heavy, just something fun to watch if you like crime shows and comedies.

Cute and light
crystalline-465796 August 2018
This is one of those shows your'e either going to like or absolutely hate. Personally I like it. The dynamic between eddie and sam is cute. Sam's recent past of being a wild drug and alcohol abuser is not believable. shes is just too rainbows and sunshine to have so recently crawled out of such a dark hole but that's fine with me. If It was more realistic I'd probably get depressed. This is something for people who want something lighter than some of it's very serious relatives but not quite in the sitcom territory. I like how silly sam is and how serious eddie is and how she brings the fun out of him.

Castle it is not, but it got potential
mrdane-5994826 June 2018
The pilot of this new show was a bit messy but enough to get me interested and enough to make me get a dvr pass for the show, I am a huge fan of Castle which was also quite messy in the first season.

Give it a chance people, Bilson is quite charming in this role and now that we no longer have Becket on the force, maybe this will take off.

Cute but bland and nothing new
Top_Dawg_Critic6 July 2018
Sad to see every single 10/10 except maybe one is a fake review. It's not hard to click on the reviewers name to see it's their only review smh. Pathetic. Maybe if the producers invested in better writers instead of posting/paying for fake reviews, the show would be better. The show is cute but un-original. Eddie Cibrian and Rachel Bilson's characters are too childish and the chemistry is just not there. Is their audience target tweens? Not sure why they cancel Lucifer and come out with this hot mess. A generous 5/10 from me

RENEW FOR THE SECOND SEASON
jojosuryadji23 September 2018
Take Two is one of the many things that changed my life and gave me hope to crime tv shows. After the ending of one of the best crime tv shows, "Castle", it really changed me, especially the enjoyment of watching crime tv shows. After it ended it gave me a hard time finding for another tv show like castle. But now, I find out that the creators of "Castle" was making a new tv show called "Take Two" another version of castle. When i watched the tv show called take two. I had hooe that crime tv shows arent always about crime and sadness. But now there are romance.... mystery..... and a lot of kissing. But finding this tv show made me a very happy person, but after i found out that Season 2 may not be happening i forced myself to tell others to watch it and rate on it so then they will renew it. So pls renew it for a second seasion. I LOVE YOUR SHOWS

So far, so good.
bangel332210 August 2018
This show is no Castle, but it's still a good show. I think Rachel Bilson is really funny, the part was well cast. And Eddie Cibrian plays his part well and is very easy on the eyes!!!! Bit of a slow start but it gets better. Episode 7 is the best so far with episode 8 a close second.

Take Two . No thanks.
weelad23 June 2018
Same as this other new series Carter, actor teams up with real cops. Very lame. Lead actors are mismatched and not right for this. Sorry. Unconvinced.

Please, please, please season 2
mkgazzarari1 November 2018
I don't normally write because I hate doing it but for take two I would do anything for a season 2. This show is more than just a funny, romantic show. When there was some rough patches in my life I would go on YouTube and watch a video of Eddie and Sam. It gave me some sort of comfort and it spoke to me. Seeing the way Eddie and Sam even the two actor Eddie and Rachel just work together and laugh it brings smiles to my face. I have a book and I decorated it with Eddie and Sam or Eddie and Rachel and my friend said it was creepy but I didn't care because I love the show as I'm their number 1 fan. Take two needs a season 2. I know there's low ratings and theirs only about 4 million people watching but canceling the show would let just those 4 million people down, including me. Shows just don't go off the roof on the first season sometimes it just takes time and I think this show has a lot of potential and it could be a great hit. If I had one wish I would not even have to think about it, it would be another season of take two. I can't explain how much I absolutely love his show. Please let there be a season 2!

Bilson adorable. Cibrian dull.
This is fluff, pure and simple. And I love it. But man oh man, do I get irked at Eddie Cibrian. This guy is all jaw and no stage presence, with a wooden talent range barely capable of playing furniture. (Starring Eddie Cibrian as The Credenza.)

But Rachel Bilson is so adorable that I can tolerate him.

Worth a watch
sbdjones9 July 2018
I'm reading the reviews and not sure why people are comparing this to Castle. Rate it based on its own merits people! I'm a Rachel Bilson fan so I like the show, and I like the chemistry between her and Eddie Cibrian. I like it so far ... remains to be seen how it plays out.

First time reviewer

I recorded this show only because I loved Heart of Dixie, but almost instantly hated it, then I actually watched past the first few minutes and the tides turned. When I seen the cheesy opening I thought are you kidding me, but then I realized that wasn't the real show!! Thank God! With every episode I love it more and more! Please let there be a season 2!

Love It!
pellett4823 June 2018
I'll be honest, I like anything with Rachel Bilson. I love mystery/crime shows that aren't too deadly serious or gruesome. I like escaping from reality for a while. This is perfect. Did I mention I love Rachel Bilson?

You're just like me, you need a second chance.
pensman22 June 2018
Eddie Cibrian and Rachel Bilson have had careers for a while now. And I figured this would be a Castle rip-off that like its predecessor relied heavily of chemistry. Writing is not the responsibility of the actor, but they do the viewer an attempt to bring characters and make them likable, if that's the assignment. I doubt either actor was told to make their character to try and convince you to change the channel, but they do. There is no chemistry between them and it is painful to watch.

Here he has the streetwise P.I., Eddie Valetik (Cibrian) forced to take on actress Sam Swift (Bilson) who is a Linsdsay Lohan rehab type as his ride-along because he owes his Hollywood agent sister a favor.

Suddenly the two are on a murder investigation with Swift calling in favors from people she met over the eight years when she had a TV show playing, of course, a cop. Even though they are trying to capture one of the most dangerous gangsters in the city, not to fear as Swift is here. Swift quickly overpowers her PI mentor with favors she can call in, and her fix that everything that happens in real life, as real life is but a poor copy of her TV show. Oh, and everyone who pulls a gun out on our intrepid two, suddenly stops to ask, "Is that Sam Swift?"

If you don't expect good writing, if you have no expectation of good acting, if less than mediocre is your pleasure, here's your show. Highlight in dialogue: an upset Swift looking at Valetik and muttering to him that he, "Puts the dick in detective."

If they wanted Lohan, they should have hired her; she can act.

Fun, light crime solving drama
cehutton13 July 2018
I love the chemistry between the two main characters. There is just enough mystery to solve, and the right amount of comedy to keep me coming back for more each week. It's a great light hearted hour of entertainment that is worth a shot at season two.
