Really enjoyed watching this documentary on modern Witchcraft (Wicca) in the Netherlands. Why I liked it? First off, it is the first of its kind. As far as I am aware, this is the first documentary (biography) on modern witches in Continental Europe. It covers the development of Silver Circle, founded by Merlin and Morgana Sythove in 1980, an association of Gardnerian witches and their friends in the Netherlands, as well as stories from other traditions of modern Witchcraft, such as Alexandrians. A touching tribute to many good witches, pioneers of Witchcraft in the Netherlands. A collection of personal stories and recollections, which will gain in value, as historical evidence, in years to come.
As someone who is also involved in film industry, I also would like to comment on the professionalism of the filmmaking crew, scene editing is nicely done to provide balance between personal interviews and voice-overs. The soundtrack fits well and provides extra emphasis of the material. I was fortunate to see the film on the "big screen" at its launch party, and had a friend beside me, who never met Merlin, and does not understand Dutch. She had tears in her eyes, during scenes focused on Merlin. Even without understanding the voice-overs and text... This is a sign of good filmmaking workmanship, indeed. An extra bonus is that the film is available now with English subtitles. Great work altogether, and a good film to watch, particularly interesting to those who enjoy learning more about modern Witchcraft and Dutch cultural history.
