a fiction tale with much truth
Dunham1627 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The premise is wealthy people with discretionary income spend as much as 200,000 Euros per week prior to tipping the vessel staff do whatever they want in the safety of international waters and exotic tourist locations/ They are assisted by a staff promising to give them better than five star domestic servant assistance yet among themselves certainly not the profiles of real people likely to succeed in the real world in these jobs. The cast does a fine job with each performer even if on board for only one sail spectacular. The exotic resort settings are tantalizing in many ways travelogues of what the TV audience might wish after watching the episodes to visit. The fictitious job jostling positions and personality clash setups do remind us of what happens in real life in our committee work and on our jobs and in this way is fascinating. The penchant of the photographer and editor to photograph many of the actors in many situations in various states of deshabille gets a suitable for network television rating but not necessarily the approval of those viewers hoping for something more interesting than seeing men and women in various states of undress. A well made and fascinating series worth renewing for many seasons to come.

I love this show for some reason
cerwen8022 February 2022
I'm not a fan of reality tv shows, I can't stand all that nonsense, yet there is something about this normal people working on a boat in a beautiful part of the world. I have a lot of love for the show and i find it extremely comforting to watch.

Funny. Pretty people
grantwrathall22 May 2020
This entire programme is so funny. Shallow no brain pretty people. Not just the staff. But the money digger woman with the rich fat husband. It is sooo funny. After looking at it if these pretty younger girls. "Their mentality". Deserve what they get. Look at Ashton. Mega poser with no brain. But woman drool over him. Get hooked up briefly. Conquest done. Next dumb pretty girl to get. Lol. In real life these pretty "people" are used to being worshipped. Looked after. I am pretty. Blah blah. It is funny. The world of shallow empty heads. Classic. Funny to watch.

Horrible people
Jokerolan23 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've read about the famous Season 5 incidents before I saw them. Now I saw them and I'm livid.

A good leader has to know their subordinates, find the best way to motivate them, know their mental state. Sandy was horrible with Kiko. Kiko was not the best chef in the world, but he could have stayed the whole season. Sandy completely destroyed his confidence by constantly peeking behind his shoulders and berating him. It was hard to witness the mobbing.

And what to say about that little neckless viper Malia? She knew about the drug way before, but kept her mouth shut. Then she proceeded to force Hannah to change beds, when that failed, she lied to Sandy about the way conversation went. At the end, she played her trump card. I'm disgusted with her.

Completely addicted to this show
ThomasDK14 October 2019
Below Deck Mediterranean is the only reality show I watch and I can't get enough. The surroundings are amazing, the dramas are intense, there's constantly something happening. I love the insight you get to all that goes on under the surface of a luxury yacht and I would love being able to afford a trip such as the ones you get to follow. Although I would definitely treat the crew a lot nicer, than most of the guest seem to do. It's both good and bad, that the crew changes from season to season, though so far in season 4, the crew seems to work really well together. Absolutely love this show and hope it will continue for many more seasons.

Love this show
dsp-988734 March 2023
I've loved the show every since it started and every season sense! I look forward to it coming on every year. Captain Sandy is a boss and I love that they decided to add a woman captain in the mix. I love watching all of the below deck series and the crew as they progress With their jobs and watch them deal with their struggles along the way. The drama is fun too! Are used to be one of the ones who like to see a lot of the same cast returned from year to year but got over that when Hannah got fired. Below deck med was the first below deck out of the series I started watching and still my favorite. Since then I have started watching below deck, below deck sailing yacht, and below deck adventure. I'm hooked.

Season 3 - Love it but so fake
cjally4 May 2022
I think Hannah claims to have been in yachting for 8 years in Season 3...so for 7 years she's been saying "Saloon" instead of "Salon", (as this is the first season on Bleow Deck she starts saying it right) and no one in 7 years of yachting has corrected her???

Polluting the Mediterranean
livstanglund4 June 2021
I like these Below deck reality shows. It's nice to see participants actually DOING something. Not like The real housewives, who just spend money. But what about the throwing of plates and such into the sea? How is it possible to be so unaware of the state of the world and the ocean? Hannah seems to be a real ignorant, thoughtless girl. It's bad enough with the enormous CO2 emissions from the boat for no other reason than pleasure. That the crew should not just throw thrash in the water. Hannah, are you aware that there are living beings in the water where you throw broken glass?

Kyle is the real problem in the interior staff.
storie-2128521 November 2023
I have been watching the whole Below Deck series since the very beginning. I enjoy all of them. My favorite is Below Deck Med series, love Captain Sandy.

About the currant season.... I just have to say that the first season Kyle showed up, I didn't like him very much and couldn't put my finger on why. This season, he has cleared up that mystery. He is nothing but a sh@t disturbedr...running from one person to the next repeating what has been told to him in private. I think he gets a kick out of stirring up drama and at the same time, coming off like he is a friend to everyone. I hope the whole crew finally realize how two-faced and insincere that man truely is.

Sun, sea and a really tacky yacht.
beverleyhunniford5 March 2021
This is the spin off of Below Deck that was based in the Caribbean. I watched some of the Med episodes around the same time as watching the original. Both very similar, different yachts. Ben did disappear from the Caribbean fo film the med version. Not convinced that it's "reality". IMDb list some of the cast as actors listing other work. Enjoyable, addictive viewing.

First impressions: why haven't I seen this before?
tcecoleshaw19 March 2021
So with mega lottery wins happening every few months, I want a super yacht when I win. But not this one. Its dirty on the exterior shots. The crew are misogynistic, lazy and psychopathic in some instances. Makes for amusing watching but never as a professional business. The passengers are equally borish with their whims and demands but that's what you get when paying 200000 - 400000 dollars a week! It's a must watch, at least for a couple of passenger rotations.

Weakest captain in the all series
alfalb_mansil27 July 2021
Staff is a mess, lack of professionalism, uneducated and Captain Sandy is very weak. The one that caused problems should have been fired on the spot. Series 6 worst ever.

Malia sucked
renglert-115868 October 2022
Malia is a b@#tch! She knew what was going on, but because Hannah upset her, she tattled, and spent the season justifying her move. She wanted Bugsy to be chief stew, but she was selfish. There was no reason, besides selfishness to do what she did. And, Tom stunk, and she knew it. Bad move for the season, and the guests... she just wanted Hannah gone, but I think she later regretted it because they needed her. I'm glad to see Hannah's life has been better since, but Malias is stagnant. Malia is a ho - more concerned about the men in her life than her job, as each season really shows. How many men does she need?

Yeah, let's watch people party!
seroom13 July 2021
Vomit, frack, quarrel, work(yeah hehe) as the script commands, poor camera work, editing, rich guests pitching themselves and their poo for a ton of money.

If you want to watch people party just go to a party and I don't know, party yourself?

I would like to stress upon the fact that people are s.it. I am talking about some guests. If these guests are real, I mean how is it possible that ou do not beat some of them. They are sending the dishes back on purpose. Hard job. I feel for the chef(s) and chief stew(s)

Below Deck Mediterranean Season 2: A Turbulent Voyage with Love Triangles, Power Struggles, and Naked Guests
ergo-5853416 July 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Below Deck Mediterranean Season 2 continues the adventures of the crew of the Sirocco, a luxury yacht sailing in the Mediterranean Sea. The season features a new captain, a new chef, and six new crew members, who have to deal with demanding guests, challenging conditions, and personal drama. The season delivers more drama, romance, and scandals than the first one, as well as more stunning views of the Mediterranean destinations.

The season starts with Captain Sandy Yawn, a respected leader in the yachting industry, who takes over the helm of the Sirocco. She is joined by returning crew members Hannah Ferrier, the chief stewardess, and Bobby Giancola, the lead deckhand. The new crew members are Chef Adam Glick, a laid-back surfer who has a passion for cooking; Malia White, a deckhand who becomes the center of attention of the male crew; Wes Walton, the bosun who has to manage the deck team; Max Hagley, a deckhand who misses his girlfriend back home; Lauren Cohen, a second stewardess who has a history with Bobby; and Bugsy Drake, a third stewardess who has to cope with a family tragedy.

The season follows the crew as they deal with various charter guests, from a group of naked models who want to have fun on board, to a group of Oklahoma cowboys who want to experience the Mediterranean culture, to a group of high-maintenance women who want to celebrate their birthdays. Along the way, the crew also faces their own personal and professional issues, such as love triangles, power struggles, communication breakdowns, and dismissals.

Some of the most memorable moments of the season include:

Adam's defiance and sabotage of the guests' food preferences, which causes tension and conflict with Hannah and Captain Sandy.

Malia's involvement in a love triangle with Adam and Wes, who both compete for her affection and loyalty.

Bobby's pursuit of Malia and his resentment towards Wes for getting her attention.

Hannah and Adam's date night and their subsequent fallout over their expectations.

Bugsy's professionalism and leadership skills in the interior department, which challenge Hannah's authority and confidence.

Lauren's loyalty and friendship with Hannah and Bugsy, which put her at odds with Bobby.

Max's humor and positivity in the deck team, which lighten up the mood and morale.

Wes's promotion to bosun and his decision to make Malia his lead deckhand, which spark controversy and backlash among the crew.

The crew's rescue of a sinking boat near their anchorage.

The crew's day off in Dubrovnik, where they enjoy some sightseeing and partying.

The season ends with a final charter that tests the crew's patience and professionalism. The guests are rude, disrespectful, and ungrateful, and they leave behind a mess and a low tip. The crew is happy to finish the season and say goodbye to each other.

Overall, Below Deck Mediterranean Season 2 is an entertaining and engaging watch that offers a glimpse into the glamorous and stressful world of yachting. The show balances the drama and humor of the crew's interactions with each other and the guests, as well as the beauty and culture of the Mediterranean destinations. The show also showcases the skills and challenges of working on a luxury yacht, from cooking exquisite meals to handling emergencies.

My rating for Below Deck Mediterranean Season 2 is 8 out of 10. I think it is an improvement from season 1 in terms of drama, romance, and scandals. Some of the improvements are:

The editing of some episodes is smoother and more consistent, showing more details and scenes.

Some of the crew members are more likable or relatable, such as Malia, Wes, or Max.

Some of the drama or conflicts are more interesting or realistic, such as Malia's love triangle or Adam's sabotage.

Some of the charter guests are more fun or memorable to watch.

I hope you enjoyed my review.

2020 and were stigmatizing mental illness
abembridge8 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've loved Below Deck but Below Deck Med needs a complete reset. Captain Sandy, Malia and Bugsy need to go but Malia specifically needs to be fired for her comments on social media and the show about Hannah's panic attacks and the shameful stigma she is spreading about mental illness and anti anxiety medications! It's completely uncalled for. And if Sandy and Bugs and even producers are in on it, which I'm betting is true, all involved should be fired. It is 2020 and no one should feel this ashamed for needing to take anti anxiety medication for their panic attacks, let alone have it used against them for a dramatic firing on a reality tv show. It's disgusting and insulting to people with mental illness and the brave advocates who try to fight this type of stigma every day. I've never been more angry watching a season of below deck and to be honest, their whole plan comes off really pathetic and obvious to everyone. Yeah, I don't blame everyone for wanting Hannah gone although I did really relate to her and grew to like her a lot, but there is no need to drag people with anxiety for tv ratings, find another way! I'm so disappointed in Bravo. Fire them all!

It's time for a mutiny by Bravo TV.
seentheah-4047225 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Season 5 should be the last season with this captain and crew. The show use to be enjoyable to watch, but with a micro-managing, biased captain and an unprofessional, immature bosun, it's become impossible to enjoy. After two debacle firings this season, one being Hannah Ferrier who's been with the head stew from the beginning of the series, I see no point in continuing my viewership.

Sensationalizing Horrible Behavior and People
lancelong7774 July 2021
Let me start by saying that I do love the show so my rating of five saddens me because I like it so much. The reason for a rating of five is because networks like Bravo determine that it is more important to our people on the boat that bring more drama to the story as opposed to just allowing a story to develop organically. In particular, I refer to the person named Malia and the drama she caused when she dated two people on a boat at the same time. To begin, this behavior is abhorrent and next, it is a cheap way to develops the show before the show has had a chance to develop. She is a horrible person and I would prefer not watching a person who represents such horrible behavior on the show. I would not watch this show again if she is on it.

This is definitely not how a professional team performs. It's a joke of a show. I think everyone of the cast cried over minor issues, including Captain Sandy. What a joke.

.. a totally salty tale
bjarias30 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
Spoilers added. What a bunch of total bollix !! Would really like to see comments from crew members actually having crewed on super-yachts. But they would more than likely not want to sully their repudiations by commenting on this utter claptrap. What's more than intriguing are the 'guests' knowingly signing on to this mayhem... for whatever attention seeking motives they may have.

Reality shows are fueled by drama, and for those bored with most all of the mainstream offerings... maybe taking it out onto the water offers a different perspective. But it's all the same... they might be novices, but they are all just actors playing their parts.. and if you were a serious captain on a real life super-yacht.. you would steer clear and as far away from all of them as possible.

And just when you believe it can't get more stupid.. season two comes along to prove you wrong. Three guys tripping over themselves, being ridiculously dumb over this one short, semi-cute, immature blonde.. YGTBK!! And a psychotic chef, who deliberately keeps screwing with the primary guest's food (cause he doesn't like his new-money attitude due to his food 'preferences'). He then purposely lies to the captain about it (to save his job.. as if no one would ever be telling her).. and her response is duh.. she has to keep him cause she wouldn't find a short-notice replacement in Croatia. Seriously.. do we have to believe planes have stopped flying there!? And then (to everyone's understandable astonishment) the primary still gives them a hefty $20K tip.. that with no rationale gets shared equally among all of them?

It just goes on and on.. pick any sequence.. the stupidity is mind-numbing and endless (and guilty-pleasure habit-forming). We should all earnestly hope they do a third season... we've just GOT to see how they top this current bizarre series of offerings!
