One of the best this season
Kingslaay5 May 2017
This was a great episode, thoroughly enjoyed it. It certainly ranks highly compared to the previous episodes. Nice to see other hunters feature in the episode with a great story line. The Winchesters team up with two young hunters or witches to track down their mother. Similar to how Dean approached Sam all those years ago to go looking for their father. In both cases it worked out horribly and tore families apart. Nice to have a flashback and reference to the first episodes that started it all. We saw a new type of witch and magic that wasn't well known in the supernatural universe. A powerful old witch who wanted to pass on her powers to a new generation. She didn't care who she killed as she already made a deal with a demon. Castiels absence after the explosive end last episode actually worked as there are other things cooking.

Mary also had an interesting time with Ketch as we know he is slowly plotting the end for American Hunters. She grows suspicious of the Men of Letters as Mick is away and Ketch seems to be hiding something. We saw a great fight sequence between her and Ketch.

A very well made episode, I like how the end of the episode resembled the first few moments of it with Mary being tied up in front of Ketch. The only downfall was the female British men of letters agent show up at the end. She never flew with fans to begin with so its no picnic seeing her back. Since we have three episodes left hopefully she will be killed off and that unfriendly headquarters be burned down.

Things are shaping up nicely for a thrilling season finale.

One of the better filler episodes this season

Warning: Spoilers
This is an episode about family, with the return of Alicia and Max Banes, who previously appeared in 'Celebrating the Life of Asa Fox', who team up with Sam and Dean to find their mother Tasha, who they haven't heard from for 4 days. It's amazing to see how the Banes can be compared to Sam, Dean and John. Alicia tells Sam that she often feels like she is left out as, unlike brother Max and mother Tasha, she isn't interested in being a witch and practicing magic, and feels like Max and Tasha have a closer bond. Sam can relate, as we all know that Dean and John had a solid bond in hunting. Sam even says "their mom's on a hunting trip and hasn't been home for a week", mirroring Dean's line to Sam about their dad in 'Pilot'. At the end of the episode, we see Max (mirrored Dean) sacrifice his soul to resurrect Alicia into a twig doll after she is stabbed... remind you of anything. This episode is strong because it manages to show you the parallels between the family, the shattered happiness that happens, and has a sturdy plot to tie it all together! Why 9 stars? Because, similarly to previous episodes, the identity if the baddie was glaringly obvious

Here for the twins

I really like Alicia and Max and this was an interesting story for them. I fairly positive this doesn't come back in the show, which is disappointing, but what a cool ending.

Anyone else notice that the witch was played by the same lady who played Ezra Moore in the episode where Dean goes back in time to meet Elliot Ness? Great actress in both parts, it took me a minute to figure out where I recognized her from and then I realized from the same great tv show!

Mary and twins

I think the twins were fine it is just that i don't care about them much to be into their story. The problem with the tone of the show is that it isn't dark enough to land the creepy or scary parts like it did before. The whole Bmol thing i just want over with.

Not a very convincing plot...

...To turn the british MEN OF LETTERS into some kind of ruthless Nazi Corporation. It could have developed into an interesting rivalry between the Brits & the Americans. But this is not believable. If you hunt monsters, why should other monster hunters be your worst enemy which needs to be eradicated...? Please.... NO. Stupid Plot

Painfully boring

Warning: Spoilers
I don't understand how this episode has high ratings?? I can barely get through it. It's so boring. I'm not even sure why they brought the twin witches back in the first place. They didn't even serve a big purpose in the first episode they appeared in. They really weren't affiliated with the Winchesters so it really makes no sense why they were brought back. The plot for this episode is awful. The acting is terrible. This was just another case of a bad filler episode. I genuinely think season 12 might be one of the worst seasons of the show.

These side characters did not need a second episode.

I am perplexed by why the writers decided to burn an episode on the Banes twins. They were minor characters in a story about a one-off set of characters. Neither the Winchester nor the audience have a connection to them. Moreover, unlike say the trickster the Banes twins weren't particularly memorable or compelling.

The episode itself is rote; it is yet another devil's bargain because the death of a loved one. It is also some the easy to solve mystery elements in the show's entire run. I supposed the ending is meant to be emotional but I didn't know Tasha Banes enough to care.
