A man called Sam (Demis Tzivis) is drinking whiskey at the edge of a cliff apparently preparing to commit suicide jumping off into the sea. Out of the blue, a woman called Amy (Joanna Häggblom) appears and starts a small talk to him. Meanwhile Sam seems to recall or foresee his relationship with Amy.

"Silent Fall" is another short film by the filmmaker Jarno Lee Vinsencius, with a too short plot (3 minutes running time) with a confused ending. It is not clear and too open what has really happened to Sam and Amy even if the viewer watches many times; maybe Jarno is influenced by the style of European directors. The good performances and magnificent cinematography, camera work and edition make worthwhile watching this short. My vote is seven.

'SILENT FALL': Four Stars (Out of Five)

Another Swedish short film, from filmmaker Jarno Lee Vinsencius. This one is a psychological drama flick; about a man contemplating suicide, on the edge of a cliff, that's visited by a strange woman. It's just 3-minutes long, and it once again stars actors Demis Tzivis and Joanna Haggblom (they also starred in Vinsencius's sci-fi short flick 'DARKNESS FALLS'). Vinsencius also once again wrote, produced, edited, filmed and directed the short. I enjoyed it.

The short tells the story of a man, named Sam (Tzivis), who's obviously thinking about committing suicide; while standing on the edge of a cliff and drinking whiskey. Suddenly a woman, named Amy (Haggblom), walks up next to him. She questions him, about his plans, and then tries to convince him to get a bite to eat with her (before they both kill themselves). Sam begins to have passionate visions, of the two of them together, during possibly a past (or future) relationship.

The movie leaves a lot up to interpretation. I think I know what happened in it, but it's definitely not clear. I like that about this type of movie though; and at just 3-minutes, you definitely don't need to know any more details. The film is pretty emotional, darkly comedic at times, and bizarre (all things I love in movies). It's nicely filmed, and edited (by Vinsencius); and the performances are both good and memorable. At just 3-minutes, you definitely can't go wrong by giving it a view; and (once again) I can't wait to see what Vinsencius does next.

A three minute movie about emotional anguish and suicide, Silent Fall is hardly a barrel of laughs, but there is still plenty to like about this very short short from Swedish director Jarno Lee Vinsencius. The cast of two do a sterling job, with Vinsencius' regular Tzivis putting in a particularly powerful performance. And once again, Vinsencius impresses with his technical prowess, the film boasting excellent cinematography, sharp editing and great use of music in its tragic ending.
