After Voight's son Justin has been shot, his good friend from Chicago Med, Dr. Sharon Goodwin, comes to the precinct to personally tell Voight all the bad news medical details about his son. Those details include the fact that Justin will not be able to breathe on his own, and will therefore need to be on a ventilator for the rest of his life. But when Voight goes to see his son for the last time, he is only on a nasal oxygen cannula. Well, if he needs a ventilator for the rest of his life, why would he not be on one already? Now, you might think that he was already dead, but that can't be - dead patients are immediately disconnected from any no-longer-necessary oxygen supply, as well as any IV's (which Justin also still has).
Dead people don't need oxygen and IV fluids. And live people that require ventilators are put on them immediately. You just can't have it both ways. And this mistake of no ventilator is particularly egregious considering the fact that Sharon just stressed to Hank Voight how he will need one for life. This one is a particularly sloppy, careless, and inexcusable mistake...
