A very nice journey.

The Dominican Republic is is above all a country of music: merengue and bachata,street musicians are playing this music, in the buses the people listen to this music, Ramon Martinez is teaching music to young boys and girls, his daughter Yokaira Martinez is an good acoordionist who plays every week in the club of Santo Domingo: in every moment the Dominican people enjoy dancing merengue or bachata.

The Dominican Republic is also the country of baseball (like Nicaragua, Cuba and Venezuela), in the streetsthe boys play street baseball and in the club of the Liga Mercedes young boys are training because they hope to become professioinal baseball player and get incomes to support their families.

The Dominican Republic is a great cigars producer: Damien Bischoff, a French expatriate shows how the cigars are produced in Santiago de los Caballeros: about 200.000 persons are working in this industry producing every year 200 millions of Dominican cigars.

In the National Park of the Haitises we discover the Taino civilisation with its cave paintings: Kryn Varnier manages the Taino Park and explains to the visitors the story of the Tino people..Ramon Guillen, a sculptor has a workshop in which he promotes the Taino art.

Now some words about the Dominican women who care very much their image , they spend a lot of time and money in beauty parlors because the smooth hair is correct.

The Dominicn Republic offers very nice beaches, but also mountains place where the tourists can mak canyoning or rafting.

In the northern Coast at Cabarrete the tourist enjoy kitesurfing and in thye Samana Peninsula there i a French colony: about 2.500 French citizen are living there: Gérard Prystacz (the former cokk of the French President François Mitterand manages a hotel in Ls Terrenas, Hervé Broussar takes care for the coconut trees of this area , in the village there a French bakery and also a French school for the French immigrants.

Jérôme has made very nice encounters with Bernardo Rijo nd Rafael Perez in Santo Domingo, with Esperanza in the Cordillera central, with the couple of Punta Rucia and the restaurant owner Luis in Coson playa: in all these encounters the Dominican mn and womaen were very kind.
