I'm watching on DVD, a couple years late. Yes, I am that guy who was an enemy of this show from the start, when I first heard about it, enthralled, then dismayed by the politically correct ethnical diversity United Colors of Benetton casting choices. I have ranted about Veronica. Do not ever misunderstand me. I like Camile Mendes' spirit when she confronts Cheryl Blossom previous episode. I just CANNOT accept her as Veronica. I'd have welcomed her here as another main character similarly strong-willed grrrl-power inspirational (within limits, last week she went too far by slamming an innocent boy, no, not Chuck, watch the episode again, you'll see what I mean) but as Veronica NO. To me, Betty and Veronica are inspirational goddesses, muses...
HERE I SIT. Watching this episode. Quickly saw whole thing is sliding downhill fast. Inferior quality film. Camera broke down? TAKE A LOOK AGAIN at the first three MUCH BRIGHTER episodes. We're sliding down the slippery slope symbolising this whole venture.
Watched The New Normal on the DVD extras. AH, THE GLORY OF BETTY AND VERONICA OF THE OLD DAYS. If you're reading this hating me for, er, puddling on your parade, but you're too young to know about the old classic... don't judge me. Those days weren't anything fancy. Plain straightforward with long-legged chicks beautifully drawn. Okay, they were drawings. Reality cannot compare with fantasized allure.
But this episode, so far, more than halfway in, bleak. Bleak. Boring. Disappointing. Odds of improving? BIT MORE THAN ZERO.
I bought the second season on DVD at sale price. The third season is super expensive. Me gonna go for it at this rate? GMPH!
do yourself a favor, young chick reading this... obtain some of those old old comics. Get to know the real thing before this SACRILEGE.
