For a movie that really takes place in only 1 room, it's not too bad. There are a few decent performance and the girls are great to look at but it never really delivers anything new.

I'm tickled pink to see Skeet Ulrich and Sean Young back in action and the main 4 actors were pretty good but the story just kind of lays there and never really grabs you.

Pros: The 2 girls are really pretty. The 2 guys do a competent job. Not bad for a movie that probably cost pennies to make. The actors made the best with what they were given.

Cons Inconsistent story and no real surprises. More padding than a training bra. It's an hour long movie stretched into 86 minutes through use of extreme slow motion. Plus, the main characters could have done a lot more to fight the 'monster'. They had a whole room full of potential weapons, lighters, plates, 1 chair, furniture etc. Screaming and swearing at demonically possessed killers never seems to slow them down.

Dont confuse this with the 2019 version which has great reviews. The beginning sequence is not translated but you get the idea whats goin on with the box. It winds up at a store with Sean not wanting to make a deal to sell to Ulich,but he steals it and leaves money, why does he want it so bad if he doesnt believe in it. Why does he want a box that he was warned about when he doesnt seem to promote it, how do we know he doesnt, cause the customers open the box like its nothing. Ulich as the owner of the experience doesnt leave the customers with any way of getting help if something happened. He has CCTV but once it goes out, he refuses to check in on them. Once he reviews past footage and realizes somethings wrong, it takes him a long time to get to the room, then when he gets away, he doesnt help the survivors. Ulich as owner, doesnt seem to be help accountable for whats happened, he trots off. Watchable, but leave common sense in another room to escape.

This movie had potential, but was just a mess from start to finish. From stunted writing, terrible characters and shortsighted plot points that just don't make sense. I try not to be too harsh, especially with horror movies that can be just as good if you turn your brain off, but this was just too full of holes.

Okay, a few notes so far.

1) This award winning escape room is just an empty room with like 4 puzzles. If it wasn't for the killings they'd have been out in 10 minutes.

2) Every single character is loathsome, antagonizing and unsympathetic. The kind of selfish people that when they find a clue they literally put it in their pocket so nobody else can use them.

3) Brice wanted to amp up his escape room so rather than making more puzzles or changing the room he went to a furniture shop and bought a creepy looking box. That is the reason his business is failing, there's no need to take it out on his receptionist.

4) Somehow Brice got the box, drove it all the way to the escape room, put it in the room and sent guests in all without even opening it to see what was inside. I mean, that's just careless.

5) One of the women just said the words "I can't do puzzles, my brain doesn't work that way".

6) This box is one of the most cursed objects in the world (like the doll from Annabelle 🤢) and yet they didn't even put a lock on it.

7) Brice clearly has a mental illness of some sort. Also Brice with a demon in him is still preferable to Brice without the demon, cos he was a garbage human anyway.

This really was a big waste of time. There is no character development, no eerie, no suspense, and the plot seems to linger and linger. One star is for the antique shop lady, rest of the movie, especially the beginning, deserves zero. The Arabic beginning didn't make any sense honestly. The worst horror movie I've seen in years.

Honestly, I am a huge fan of Skeet, but this is just a mess. I actually started to yawn half way through, and only watched it to the end to see if some last minute denouement could rescue the escapade. Unfortunately, there was no rescue. Life is too short to waste on this. It's so bad that I refuse to rate it.

Nearly terminated this after about ten mins there were no sub. titles and nothing in English I should have as the remaining time was a was of time better spent doing something else. The characters are the usual formula type slasher fodder and you have no real empathy for any of them. The best acting award goes to the person chained up as it does not utter a word so you don't need to laugh at the mindless crap issuing from the mouths from the rest of the cast An example of this is he's looking at my boobs well after that was said I tried looking myself and could not see whatever the creature could see. skipping through the rest of the time wasting saga (here comes a spoiler( we have the guy who runs the place just walking away no detention by police just up and walks away (really)after I concined the disc to a pile I use to sit drinks on to protect the wood on furniture I wish that I had,had something to protect me from this mess. The story was okay. Definitely original. The acting was not the greatest. But what really upsets me, is that the poster for the movie shows saw blades coming out of the floor and makes you think there are traps and stuff like that. No. Not even close. Not even a single saw in the movie. The kills were anti-climactic and boring.

This film is entirely unremarkable. That is not to say it is bad, just very average.

The story starts with a long and odd intro before we meet a crew of characters all attending an Escape Room. The owner (Ulrich) is down on his luck, and decides to spice up the encounter by purchasing a haunted horror box (from an odd appearance by 80s star Sean Young).

As the characters start the Escape Room, will wonder if they will survive (spoiler, probably not...).

Seeing an Escape Room, was interesting. The movie itself is less interesting. The plot develops quickly and expectantly - this is good. There are no stupid twists, and the characters act in fairly normal ways. All good, but there is just not much to it after that.

Good concept, average execution and acting. Low budget that works. I do find it interesting that it is labeled a Thriller, not a Horror, which is pretty accurate. It was worth what I paid to see it ($0), but for low budget horror, that is a middling compliment. This will not blow your mind, but I've seen a lot worse. 6/10
