Even Though I Lived It, I Still Don't Know Enough About Sandy!
Sylviastel6 February 2020
I was one of the fortune ones where I lived right by the Raritan Bay and could see Staten Island from my neighborhood. We lost power for eight days as did many others. I lost a week's worth of work. But we were lucky, the water could have flooded our garage and damaged our property. The winds that night of Sandy wore horrendous and knocked out power but we were spared the water. My street is prone to flash flooding too. The high tide, full moon and storm were a perfect storm in the making. Because we lost power, we only knew what was going on from my walkman radio. It would be days before we see the devastation and still to this day, I'm amazed by what I didn't see. Sandy is still in my town where the rivers rose up and damaged homes and lives as well. This documentary episode made me want to know more about what happened when Sandy hit. The personal toll is still felt. This documentary and investigative report detailed how the insurance companies and red tape still determine what happens and to who. Houses still haven't been built. Everybody has a story to tell and that was mine. I still feel for those who lost homes and lives during the storm. I'm thankful for this frontline episode.
