The saga continues, minus all the pomp.

Aaron's determination to find his long missing brother Moses brings him to the desert where by godly intervention, they find each other. His reunion with the Pharaoh is quite different than Charlton Heston's and Yul Brynner's. Here, it's Laurent Terzieff as the Pharaoh, trying to bring Moses back into the court, but Moses has quite a different agenda. While we get to see the Pharaoh's wife, there's no sexual tension between her and Moses, and she seems devoted to life as Pharaoh's wife and mother of his son.

Anthony Quayle avoids the theatricality of John Carradine's Aaron, and nobody will ever accuse Joseph Shiloach of imitating Edward G. Robinson as Dathan. The script and direction continue to be far more subtle, lacking any type of camp, but Burt Lancaster continues to be a quiet yet determined Moses, debating as to why he had to be chosen, obviously turning down the easy path, and this makes the slower pacing of the miniseries to be much more engrossing because of the lack of unintentional laughs.
