Enjoyable although the short episodes are very frustrating
aldiboronti27 July 2017
I would have enjoyed this far more if it had been shown in one part, or at least 2 or 3. But to chop it up into 9 episodes of around 15 minutes each made it very difficult to watch. Just as you'd get into the story again the end credits would be rolling and you'd have to watch yet another intro and titles before the story would start again. I got the distinct feeling that the director was doing it this way because it gave him the opportunity to do 8 cliffhanger endings. I'm here to tell him it wasn't worth it and the endings weren't that good anyway.

But do watch it. There is a good story in there despite the obstacles put in the way of enjoying it. I'm rating it a 4, it would have been a 6 if it hadn't been chopped into so many pieces.

Worth watching
gary-1300930 August 2017
In my opinion, the negative reviews are too harsh. For what I assume to be a low budget series, I found it to be pretty good. I do agree with others that the short length of the episodes is annoying, and they could have been spliced together into a two-part series. All the same, I found it to be worth a watch and hope to see more from the lead actors in the future.

Not that Bad Not, But Not That Good

Entertaining bit of low budget fun. Decent murder mystery with some good acting mixed with some bad. Directing tends to come and go in its focus, but it is passable. Give it 6 stars for the story and the good attempt at making a decent movie. A for effort.

Waste of time you'll never get back...
deelolazjourney26 July 2017
I could barely make it through the first episode, which did not have an ending good enough to make me want to see the next episode. Someone else stated in their review that the performance of Andrew Hunsicker was incredible. They are right in one respect. He is an incredibly boring and unlikable actor on this show; both by his acting skills and looks. He looks like an old, very old "has been" that I still fail to see as a lead character in any production.

He seemed to have trouble with his American accent and at times sounded way more British than American. He needs to pick one and stick with it.

The show is boring, moves at an incredibly slow pace and I mean SNAIL pace. It's not well thought out in the sense that we don't learn anything about the main victim in the first episode and I had to fast forward through the second episode to try to understand what the point of this new series was going to be. It just did not grab my attention and whoever gave the main actor (Andrew) great reviews, MUST BE RELATED to him in some way.

I love giving new television series a watch. Most of the time, you get caught up in the first episode, somehow. Even if, at first, it seems you won't like it, something happens to grab enough interest to make you want to watch the 2nd, 3rd or more episodes. This time there is NOTHING there.

Don't waste time on this one. I promise, it sucks!

Crap Fest
drmidnite-7889626 July 2017
This is the worst thing I have ever seen committed to film. A 7.1 rating must have come from the film crew, because, otherwise would imply that the reviews are complete fabrications. I'm opting for the second choice, personally.

The acting, writing and sheer incompetence in showing police procedures and policies are so horrible that I could only stomach the first two episodes. The so-called "leaps of logic" are anything but. The only way a cop could have known such things was if he helped write the story or was involved in the production somehow. Oh, wait... He was.

Avoid this like the plague. You have been warned.

Good series story line. Definitely attention catching
davidfranks-8063616 July 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Enjoyed the series with the exception that it was broken up into 9 episodes lasting only 16 to 20 minutes. The trailer shows scenes that I did not see in the episodes. Would like to see out takes or the cutting room floor scenes. Excellent plot twists and story line. Looking forward to any further episodes.

How is it awful? let me count the ways
texasnana-2990020 November 2017
This is apparently a vanity project for someone named Christian Grillo. Look at how often his name shows up in the credits. He apparently thinks he can do everything. The acting is horrible and since I've seen the main characters in other projects where they did just fine, I cant help but blame the writer (Grillo) and the director (Grillo). I can understand where the plot is supposed to go. Grillo just does an abysmal job of trying to get there. With a decent writer and a decent director the general story line might have some promise, although it's hardly original - i.e. a ghost helping to solve their own murder - as it is, the project bites, bit time.

HOLY CRAP! I have never tried to watch anything as horrific as this *GARBAGE*.
Describing just how insanely bad this waste of time (both theirs and mine), work and money could ever be properly expressed in words is undeniably impossible . The only way anyone could possibly understand the sheer depth of just how bad this show is would be to try watching it yourselves.

I don't remember ever seeing Andrew Hunsicker (Detective Christopher Petrowski), in another movie or show but if I had, the horrendous acting skills portrayed in this waste of time and space, would have made me forget him altogether anyway. While there's a chance he's a good actor in other productions, his performance here is unequivocally horrendous as is most all of the other cast members. There is so much wrong in casting him as the lead in this role that it's nothing short of a crime.

Both Michael Everette Johnson (Captain Beverly) and Evangeline Young (Angela) I do remember from other productions. Both of which are excellent actors in their own rights. So why their performances here suffered so severely, and how bad this film is on so many levels, can only be blamed on the director, writers, producers and casting personal. Everyone and everything failed these actors at every turn.

The director seems to have been asleep at the wheel when it came to pulling the best and correct performance for the characters out of the actors. The sound, more crap! First of all, it sounded as if it was filmed mostly inside a tin can. They certainly didn't make the best use of background music in the first episode and at least half of the second one. Which is where I stopped watching because it was beginning to actually be physically painful (major headache) to watch.

It is my understanding that this is supposed to pass for a low budget film but judging on the direction, production, casting, acting, sound and story telling it's filming budget could not have been so extravagant as to actually be classified as a low budget film. Indeed the budget must have come out of whatever the cast and crew had in their pockets at the time.

As far as trying to comment more on the story telling portion of the show I must confess, I am only referring to the first episode and half of the second. I tried, I really tried, to watch this travesty long enough to get at least a sense of what the story is trying to tell. But there was absolutely nothing to even attempt to draw me in. It's a Black Hole. The show just sucks and gives nothing back.

Do yourselves a favor, skip this show. Those that are telling people that this show is a "must watch" or that it is a good show are the kind of people who like to watch themselves pulling the wings off of flies and then leave them to die in, what must be, excruciating, searing, agonizing pain.

That's what you'll feel after trying to watch this mind numbing, less than 15 minutes long but seems like an hour trying to get through it, useless material.

Since I can not give it a 0 I'm forced to give it a 1, which it definitely does not deserve even that much but we're stuck with it.

Watch at your own risk.

Unique take on ghost solving her own mystery
ladybug25352 September 2017
I enjoyed this series, but as mentioned by other reviewers, it really would have been better if it had been presented as one 2 hour movie, or even divided into 2 or 3 episodes. Chopping it up into 14 minute episodes made the film story drag much slower than it would have otherwise. That said, my review of the film itself is positive.

The story's ghost was presented in a different way than usually seen in this type of film, and I much preferred this straightforward conversation over the overly strained mystery usually delved into; the mystery of her death and who killed her and why was enough of a mystery without adding to it. It was also perfectly logical that the ghost would seek out a professional detective who was able to see her over an untrained outsider (as so many do)--it helped avoid the whole "I can't believe it" trope, or the old "you're crazy!" stereotype. THe detective may be crazy (and that question is never fully addressed, wink wink), but he's good at what he does. and this actually helps the story not only move forward but keep it fresh.

The acting was decent, though if I remember correctly some of the minor characters were less consistently committed. Facts were presented as the detective learned them, with nothing set forward to deliberately fool or confuse the audience (I like that in a mystery) yet there was indeed a mystery. The solution when exposed makes perfect sense in retrospect. Overall, while not an Oscar winner, it was worth watching--though as I said previously, it would have been better as one full movie or a mini-series rather than such short episodes. I don't know if this was initially a web series, but from the description it appears that they plan on additional seasons. Given this season dates from 2017 there may very well be more to come. I for one look forward to it, but I do hope they read these reviews and take them to heart.

Really good watch, give it a chance
jhunsi-0561027 July 2017
This is a very suspenseful and enjoyable series. Well written and acted and I loved the moody feel of the cinematography. It took an episode or two to get going but once it did, I was completely engrossed until the satisfying and no frills conclusion. I would have preferred longer episodes (and less opening credits), and some of the sets and locations indicated that this was a low budget production, but these are small grievances. This is a professionally done and entertaining independent work, I'd love to see what these filmmakers could do with a larger budget.

Worth a watch
barbstetter12 October 2017
This series was well written and I enjoyed it. It is an independent film and thus not big budget production. I have been to independent film festivals so I am know what to expect and what I enjoy. There is a place for all types of films. Keep this in mind when watching and do not get caught up in negativity. The other reviews were very critical and I thought too harsh. Enjoy the experience. If you are looking for typical violence, nudity, sex scenes, special effects or fast paced action then I suggest you look for typical Hollywood fare. Thank you Amazon for presenting this series.

Very worth the time to watch
markwolfe53228 April 2018
I thought little of it at the start, then got more hooked as each minute went by. Ended up being late to work to binge the last 4 episodes. The female lead was great and the male lead was good. My bet is the detractors did not watch past the first episode.

Not bad for a low budget series
edkpgh5 August 2017
Warning: Spoilers
Christopher Petrowski is your typical aging, hard-boiled detective, with a dysfunctional family life. He is working on a double homicide of an elderly couple, when he comes across a young girl named Angela, who looks oddly familiar to a murdered girl found dead six months ago in the local creek. Together, they work on solving these and other murders that have hit the community.

Just watched the entire series of nine episodes, which really wasn't that long, considering that each one is roughly a 15 minute short. That was a bit of turn off, but overall, it was entertaining, and not bad for a low budget show. A bit slow in developing, but the story draws you in, and just enough plot twists and supernatural elements to keep it interesting.

I'd recommend binge watching the whole series. The total running time is just that of roughly a two hour movie.

Great job for a low budget indie
Vallbygirl16 June 2019
I laughed at the nasty reviews because I'm sure those people have never tried to film anything let alone make a series. It is not what you are used to seeing on the big networks. That's why I found it refreshing. Good plot, good effects, good acting. Nice job cast and crew!

I've binge watched this twice
ELashes20 July 2019
Once in 2017, and once today, 2019. If there's anything I enjoy more than ghost stories, it's police procedurals. Put the two genres together and I'm there. The two leads are very likable, especially the ghost girl. I'm also a big fan of finding indie projects to check out. I think it's awesome that someone can do a budget show like this and get it out to the whole world via streaming services. Law of Perdition checks a lot of boxes for me.

A cross between police crime-drama and supernatural-horror.
ActorMarkMarcarian23 April 2017
Pushing boundaries and exploring mediums is what film and television creation is all about and nobody knows that better than Pennsylvania based production company Potent Media. From 2012's highly debated horror-drama Deer Crossing to sci-fi doomsday's Apocalypse Kiss to the upcoming tween fantasy Sugar Skull Girls. Now it's time for Law of Perdition.

Stirringly, dramatic and scary! The story line is solid, the acting is incredible. Such a fresh new paranormal series that delivers. The shots are aesthetically gorgeous cinematography and great lighting sets the mood in each and every episode.

Incredible performances from Andrew Hunsicker, Michael Everette Johnson and Carmela Hayslet to name a few.

This series is a must see.
