Not a 1/10 but not a 10/10
workit_oz18 October 2018
Over the top critic's need to settle down with the 1/10 rating. Its not that bad, but not a box office hit either. Jackie just keeps the FUN in movies & the dudes in his 60's. This movie being down under has the same feel as one of his 1st hollywood flicks in the 90' which was in australia. I think it was called "first strike".

A brave attempt for Jackie Chan in sci-fi film , but the film's bad script has make the outcome embarassing
chikin-5361124 December 2017
Warning: Spoilers
'Bleeding Steel' is a sci-fi action film starring Jackie Chan, co produced by both Chinese and Australian film company.Jackie Chan also serves the producer of the film.

It has action, stunts, car chasing, fight scene, extoic location, pretty actress, handsome actor, interesting story. But the outcome of the film is not as good as it should be due to: (1) Poor editing at several imporant scene , (2)Several unfunny jokes, (3) Too much flashback , (4) Poor script that turns a 'could be' interesting story into a mess , (5) Poor CGI, (6) Poor acting, (7)Poor dialogue....

At the age of 64, Jackie had already done his best to do the action . But the poor edit had ruined the film. Maybe it is necessary because Jackie is obviously slowing down. The edit will help to hide his weakness . Also the film focus too much on how the little girl discover her relationship with the character played by Jackie in the film, unfortunately the process is so boring and uninteresting.

Besides, the action scene appear so sudden on the screen. Jackie is just like Batman on the Dark Knight Triology. On some occasion he appeared in the film just because of doing action, and it is not very related to the story, which is similar to the situation of Jackie in 'The Foreigner'. But The Foreigner has better screen play, better actor, better fight with good action design, better humor and a more intense story.

'Bleeding Steel' is just look like a film with different clips being put together in a wrong sequence and become a MTV,with no soul. The director just don't know how to direct and edit. He ruined the film. Even the fight at the Sydney Opera House become uninteresting because of the poor script and edit.True Chan fans will discover many elements in this film have alreay appeared in his past film,in particular 'New Police Story'. But NPS had several nicely shoot action scene that save the film. This film just don't have .

Also , I think fans are getting bored to see Jackie crying in every film. He acts good. But I think it is enough for uncessary crying scene. His recent film is always about revenge, some body die and he has to look for the murderer. The audience just get bored. If Jackie still want to be in the film industry and make good film, he should seriously choose script, director and his co-star.

This film is even worse than 'The Medallion' and ' Around the World in 80 days' . Because these film are pure Engilsh film and have better CGI.

Overall, this film is a drag in Jackie's film career. The director tried to copy the style of 'First Strike',"Who am I ' and 'Nice Guy' to be a Chinese made international action film. But at that time Jackie is still young and can do some dangerous stunts and fancy fights. But now he cannot. Also those film are not about Sci-Fi,filmmakers are able to handle more easily. Therefore this film just look weired.

A little too much of everything
blumdeluxe18 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
"Ji qi zhi xue" tells teh story of a cop and father who has to face a radioactive villain in order to save his daughter and the world.

It kind of feels like the producers took many good things and used them just a little too excessively. While I appreciate the mixture between action, sci-fi and comedy, all of these elements feel a bit exaggerated at times. There are just a ton of explosions, sci-fi elements that don't really match the logic and the comedy sometimes turns a bit silly. If you take these exeggagerations away, what remains is actually a decent film, nothing specctacular but solidly produced and entertaining.

All in all this is a nice distraction for a quiet evening but it is lacking the consequence to be something bigger than that.

As a JC Fan it hurts me how bad this movie is.
Andytaken7 January 2020
Let me start by stating I'm a life long Jackie Chan fan and have watched all of his films even bit part and cameo appearances over the course of 30 years and as a rule would usually not have a bad word said about him or his films. However...

Like someone else had put in a review I actually came here half way through the film to check how this was being received as I was honestly struggling to get through the film.

***Mild spoiler*** The film starts with a standard plot a cop(special agent), dying daughter, opening exaggerated shoot out scene with some power ranger style bad guy which is where it introduces you to the Sci-Fi element of the film if you want to call it that. That was the first 15 mins and you'll see JC again for a brief fight scene about 10 minutes later and not again until an HOUR into the movie! This film has an awful plot and terrible dialogue so bad that it would make your budget look Oscar worthy in comparison. Even the humour which doesn't actually come from our hero is like kids show level. The twists are so obvious it's not worth calling them twists.

Now as I mentioned I'm a huge JC fan, I love the man and his movies but I can admit he has some weak films with weak plots and sub-par acting however JC can generally carry those film due to his humour, action and general likeability. another questionable choice is the sound design, I get dubbing the Mandarin speaking actors but some of the English actors were even dubbed. Simply every aspect of the film feels so cheap. Jackie has spent decades displaying the right way to film action especially fight scenes and Leo Zhang decided to forego that process and go for generic shaky/slow-mo shots. I won't even go in to the CGI just know that they even CGI'd in a photograph and that didn't even look realistic.

I came here at the middle of the film frustrated at how bad the film was and i'm now at the end of the film just disappointed JC put his name to this. If you love Jackie like most of us do then do yourself a favour and skip this, once a classic of his instead.

Classic Jackie Chan Actioner
gminetos-3810514 October 2018
Serviceable action flick with trademark Jackie Chan fight scenes imbued with humor. It does seem to still be a product of the late '90s though. I liked the nugget of the plot, and some action scenes were real standouts even though they strained credulity. Decent enough overall.

A BAD movie, which happen to have Jackie Chan in it
3epkk9b24 February 2018
I think the best part was the End Credits... I am going to sum this movie in couple of words.. 1- Too much bad Green Screen 2- Way too obvious Product Placement 3- Shaky Cam and Youtube style Cuts. 4- I would never have watched if the there was no Jackie Chan in it.

Such a poor movie
andreasdorn28 December 2017
I like Jackie Chan. He, in his age, has done a lot for the movie industry and put Asia onto the map as well.

But this is such a poor movie. Poor acting and poor connection of all the storylines to make it coherent, too much action without building a character, jokes which are really not funny.

The last 5 minutes are okay. They are after the credentials, and show, how the movie has been made.

All in all, I regret that I didn't go into any other show.

Absolutely terrible and moronically childish
MovieIQTest3 January 2018
What a lousy screenplay, man. If you watch carefully from the very beginning, Jackie Chan is actually the Executive Producer, his son is another producer, one of the female actors is also one of the screenplay writers. The scenario is ridiculous, about a invention of the artificial heart that can make half dead people resurrect from the dead. Lot of gun fights, explosions, demonic-like villains and globe trekkers. Since Jacki Chan has an Australian Passport and his wife a permanent resident there, he just like to use Australia as one the movie's shooting location other than Hong Kong.

This is a very childish and shallow action movie for the majority of video gaming generation, guys still live with their parents, eating instant ra-mien soaking in boiled hot water while still playing the video games. But if you really like Jackie Chan's movie, watch "The Foreigner" instead.

A step backwards...
Leofwine_draca10 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
BLEEDING STEEL is the latest production from Chinese superstar Jackie Chan and a big step down from his work on the tight and realistic THE FOREIGNER. This one's a return to bloated, big budget mainland Chinese super-adventure, this time with a sci-fi edge as Jackie's aged cop battles armour-clad goons and synthetic super-humans. I had the misfortune to watch the Lionsgate release, which offers horrid dubbing for Jackie's co-stars, but dubbing aside the film is a mixed bag. The beginning and ending offer lavish action spectacle which isn't too bad, albeit cheesy, but the slow middle section is all teen romance and unfunny comedy with an Australian setting. I think Jackie needs to work abroad more to make more of an impact these days.

Jackie Chan can't even take a break huh ?
phanthinga17 February 2018
Keep slamming Bleeding Steel with low score and bad reviews for all I care cause I believe even in the worst movie ever made if it starring Jackie Chan somehow he will make the best out of it and Bleeding Steel is an example .Yeah the movie plot make no sense at all and I couldn't care less about any of the characters but the fact that Jackie Chan still doing his own stunt in his 60s alone is wonderful enough for me not regret buying the ticket

mattcarpenter-644342 January 2018
One of the worst movies I have ever had to endure in my life.

The script and plot is so poor I can't believe someone must have been paid to do it. Coupled with acting that makes you cringe the whole way through.

It's not Sci-Fi, it's not Action...it's just ridiculous and complete was of time.

Honestly couldn't recommend more strongly not to waste time with the movie.

Have you had a nose job?
nogodnomasters22 January 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Officer Lin (Jackie Chan) must combat evil bioroids, a "perfect synergy of body and machine."

The film is in both Chinese and English with double running subtitles in case you are learning a language. The bad guy is named "Leeson" which appears to be a combination of Liam Neeson. The film utilizes a lot of flash backs to back fill the plot which was not very confusing in spite of attempts to make it awkward.

The sets looked sleek and futuristic as did the bad guys, who appear they can easily kill any man except Jackie Chan, whose name was used once in the film. The production includes tons of fight scenes to go along with a plot and dialogue that reflects bad Chinese "juvenile" film writing. There were 2 F-words in the film that were not well delivered, and one near one, making the target audience young teens.

The film was more enjoyable in the beginning with a lot of promise, even after they killed everyone in the first scene. It then slowly made its way into a too predictable Chinese script that love Disney endings more than Disney.

Even Jackie Chan can't carry this.
mpripper27 February 2019
I'd like to think of myself as a bit of a Jackie Chan fan, i've Enjoyed many of his films. But this one was so bad I had to turn it off. There's no continuity, Jackie is ok himself but the rest of the actors were terrible. Very disappointed.

Another entertaining movie from the king of stunts...
paul_haakonsen9 June 2018
There was no doubt about me sitting down to watch "Bleeding Steel" or not, because it is a Jackie Chan movie and I do like his movies quite a lot.

I must admit that I am a little bit puzzled about the fairly low rating the movie has managed to receive on IMDb. Sure, it certainly wasn't among the best of Jackie Chan movies, not by a long shot, but it was still a rather fast-paced action-filled adventure that we all know and love from Jackie Chan.

The movie had a rather simple storyline and it didn't really offer any plot twists along the way. And you knew the movie's outcome from early on in the movie, but it was still an enjoyable action ride to sit along on.

The stunts are as always top notch from the king of stunts himself, Jackie Chan.

As for the acting in the movie, well it was actually also fairly good for a type of this type and genre.

There was a good combination of action and light comedy throughout the movie, as it is usually always the case with Jackie Chan movies. So you know what you are in for here when you watch it.

It was amazing to see Jackie duke it out on top of the Opera building in Sidney, and that is something I never thought I would have seen.

This is definitely a movie well-worth a place in the Jackie Chan collection. And if you haven't already seen it, and if you are a fan of Jackie Chan, then I strongly recommend that you find the time to do so.

If you like martial arts and balletic action...
metalgear-2525919 March 2018
There's no getting away from it, this film is completely mad. But there's fun to be had if you enjoy some superbly choreographed action. It is it's only saving grace unfortunately. There's a variety of young and deadly female fighters spinning around in black pvc offering stern looks and cheesy dialogue. I've also never heard such a dramatic score amidst so much crazy action, which only compounds itself towards the end, if you make it that far! This film will make you cringe and smile in equal measure if the lust for crazy action keeps you on board. The Jackie styled energy still emanates throughout the film, but it's not an easy ride to stay engaged with.

Energetic cyberpunk spectacle with terrible scriptwriting
kluseba12 March 2019
Bleeding Steel is a fast-paced science-fiction movie with solid acting performances, stunning visual effects and exotic locations in Australia and China. The highlights are the scenes inside and outside the Sydney Opera towards the climax and the scenes in the laboratory plane during the falling action. The movie has a concise length that never overstays its welcome. This highly entertaining movie with a big budget and a balanced mixture of rookie and star actors is much better than its critical reception because it manages to keep its audience on the edge of their seats throughout the film.

The story revolves around a young woman of Chinese origin living in Australia who has a mechanical heart and biogenetic blood substitutes unbeknownst to her that once saved her life when she was a very young child. She is tracked down by relentless criminals that have been looking for the scientific iventions in her body for decades. She is secretely protected by her father, a former police officer who works as a cook at his daughter's university. She is also mysteriously approached by a youngster who seems to have a romantic interest in her. The three parties involved will change the young woman's life.

The weakest element of the film is its story. Even if one considers this movie to be closer to fiction than to science, it still features poorly developed side stories, minor plot holes and highly exaggerated scenes that put the film closer to a juvenile fantasy flick than anything else. The dialogues are sometimes also of poor quality. The movie might therefore appeal to younger audiences but occasionally frustrate more experienced cinephiles. The scriptwriting of such a big production would have requested more care and details.

In the end, Bleeding Steel is an entertaining, lush and even spectacular science-fiction movie with numerous action scenes and atmospheric cyberpunk elements. Its only but major flaw is the subpar screenwriting with cringeworthy dialogues, several minor plot holes and poorly developed side stories. This entertaining blockbuster is good for what it is but far from leaving a lasting impression.

WORST. JACKIE. CHAN. MOVIE. EVER.
the_slurpee_king27 July 2020
I've never written a review before, but this movie is SO BAD, I thought I needed to. This is not only the worst Jackie Chan movie to date, it's an astonishingly terrible movie overall. This makes 'the Spy Next Door' look like 'Casablanca'. This movie is even too hokey for an episode of Power Rangers.

1/10.

REVIEW - BLEEDING STEEL

The guy is in his 60s, how is he still doing what he's doing?

Another outing for Jackie Chan and another action film to enjoy without too much thought but enjoyable none the less.

Interesting story but of course marvellous action and fighting which is what Jackie Chan does so well.

If your a Chan Fan then watch, nowhere near as great as The Foreigner but a good film in its own right (The Foreigner broke the mould when it came to Chan films and can't be beaten).

Jackie makes the film good.
Quantom-X3 October 2018
To be honest... this movie could have been better. But I really enjoyed it. It's nice to see Jackie in a sci-fi action movie like this... Thought he film as a whole doesn't make a whole lot of sense and there are about a trillion plot holes. And it's never explained how Andre and the Woman in Black have such advanced technology and even a freaking space ship in the year 2020 while everywhere else is more or less modern. Jackie is amazing as ever, and still doing all his own stunts and is fantastic, even at the age of 64 now. (Hey my favorite number!) Also the humor in the movie is freaking hilarious. I found myself roaring with laughter several times and almost peeing myself. Jackie's been doing this for over 5 decades now and he's really mastered how to get great slap stick humor down pat. The movie itself isn't that great, and would definitely fall flat without Jackie. But he just brings so much to the table you can't help but love it.

If only we could give 0 out of 10
mile-madarac2 January 2020
I have watched Jackie Chan for years and am a huge fan. For pure entertainment he is hard to beat, but this movie is probably the worst and most ridiculous thing he has done. It makes a Nicholas Cage straight to home video masterpiece look like Citizen Kane. The storyline is moronic, the special effects are lame, and it lacks that classic Jackie Chan element of being fun. Depressingly bad.

Jackie Chan lost his mojo
MovieWatcher202124 May 2020
Right after Foreigner, this is the 2nd movie I've watched, since I was a big fan of Jackie Chan since I was 10 years old. But, in these days, his movies have a message and I don't appreciate it. If you watch this movie and Foreigner, and if you pay attention, you could see that all the bad people are non-Asians; and only Asians are helping out Asians. In recent movies, Also, the movie is kind of slow, even though filmed in Australia, the story was weak and the actions were like filmed in Hong Kong, close combat only.

I enjoyed this film !
Filmreader10 November 2018
I didn't read ANY of the critics from people or anyone else ! I saw the name Chuckie Chan and that was enough for ME to go to see a trailer to decide if I will watch the film or not. Finally I saw it and I enjoyed. I had a good time. And I don't give a damn for your critics all of you here or in bloody rotten tomatoes.
