According to the German Newspaper "SPIEGEL," the government film funding spent 5.17 million U.S. dollars on this film. It had just 6,388 viewers in German movie theaters during the first two weeks, resulting in a revenue of 65'000 U.S. dollars. In contrast, the German-language original of 2014 was that year's most successful film in German cinemas, with more than seven million viewers during the entire run time. The government film funding was, among others factors, conditional on a release in German cinemas.
