Ai Paquita!

I stumbled on Paquita Salas while looking for Spanish language series on netflix. Very entertaining, I laughed a few times hard, watching it alone. That is always a very good sign. Start immediately with season 2! It's better than the first season.

Fun Spanish Comedy

As irreverent as a guy in drag may seem to you, this series is full of amazing randomness. It probably won't be understandable for non Hispanics because most of the jokes are about other Spanish actors but Paquita is lovely. It may have some R rated jokes, but you will finish the first season yearning for more.

Unexpected joy

As an English only speaker I didn't expect to be able to appreciate this show as I hoped to. Yet comedic kindness, friendship and dedication crosses language boundaries. This show is amazing as it is funny, shocking and kind all at the save time. Series 3 is a wonderful evolution of character progression, and shows how character eccentricity, flamboyance and particularness (not sure that's a word) can translate to funny, relatable and gritty storylines whilst remaining at its core what it v should be - fabulous. Love this show and it's actors.

A Hilarious and though provoking mocumentary style series and I can't get enough!

Text: I am a huge fan of shows like The Office, Parks and Rec, and Veep, and they do a fantastic job of making us laugh with hilarious nods to current events, but what they lack is heart and real, genuine relatability. Paquits Salas accomplishes that! While it is a Spanish series with many jokes poking fun at Spanish pop culture, it's easy to watch for us English folk as well. At first I thought they casted a male actor to play the lead character for comic affect, but as the show progressed I found myself forgetting she was being played by a male at all. That's how good the acting is! Although clearly meant to be hilarious (which it is),there are scenes that really bring on the feels. I found myself feeling for this amazing and beautiful woman who has a tough exterior but would do anything to help you out if you needed it, even if you stabbed her in the back countless times. I really appreciate that they hired several trans actors, and had trans, gay, lesbian and ambiguous characters without any sort of agenda. The show is about real people who have a common bond, that love each other, being hilarious, but also being real, and it's a perfect, spectacular balance. I laughed, I cried, and I felt. Thank you to the writers, incredible actors, and producers for putting together this masterpiece for everyone to enjoy. I needed this!

Similar to The Office (British version)

Hilarious, but with a lot of heart. Reminded me a lot of The Office.

Spanish speaker though and I'm aware that there are lots of in jokes that only Spaniards will get. The second series is even better than the first.

Amazing low-budget comedy with localized humour
mfontalvap1 October 2022
I really love this show. Could watch it 500 times, will laugh my a** every single one. And it still has place for drama and deep points. Achieving that with a first season produced by Flooxer -dependant on a TV channel, honestly haven't heard of another project from there- is brilliant.

One important thing is that it's crowded with cameos and localized humour you wouldn't get if you're not related to Spain. I understand some people don't fully understand it for that reason. But you wouldn't believe how many references and quotes my friends and I still use from this show -despite being short-.

All of the characters are so well developed. The humor is ridiculous yet so right on.

Who cares about casting the right actors?
kemro200231 January 2018
I came across this title while browsing on Netflix, and I was not sure what was going on for the first 5 minutes of the first episode of this series, until it dawned on me! The 29-year old Brays Efe is portraying the lead, a middle aged woman, Paquita Salas, because... because... Well, you lost me there! I have no idea why on earth the casting director, or whoever was in charge of choosing the actors thought that this was a good idea, and forever ruined a potentially good and funny show. Don't get me wrong, Efe is not necessarily bad in what he does, it is just that, with his looks, the whole deal is utterly unconvincing. Isn't the whole point of acting to convince us, the audience, that you are precisely the person you are pretending to be? And if so, how am I ever supposed to get convinced that Efe is a woman? I live for good surreal comedy, but the fact that a 29-year old male with very little makeup is playing this potentially funny lady just puts me off. Perhaps if the rest of the characters were mis-casted it would have even made sense, but the other actors are believable and seem to know what they are doing to a T. I am so sorry Paquita, it's just not working, and I am more than anything disappointed because the dialogues are smart and funny and I was actually ready to like this show, alas, the unreasonable casting.
